Electable for Governor? Yes. But electable for President? It would follow if the Presidential election consisted of 49 other large, conservative states that are safely under Republican control.
And you'd also need a laughably underfunded token Democrat "opponent" for President to replicate the conditions that made Perry "electable" in Texas.
Going by the actual scenario a Presidential candidate faces, Perry is "electable" the way John Kerry (look I got elected a bunch of times in Massachuttes!) is.
Apprently you've never heard of thing called a "primary election". This may come as a shock, but Obama won't be on the ballot when we get to choose between a bunch of other Republicans and illegal alien luvin' Perry.
How could she pay me? According to you Perrywinkles, she has no hope of fundraising... BTW, Conservative Palin supporters are the real deal, they don't expect to be bribed, like some politicians do. Just sayin'.
“PerryWinkles”.
Huh? I’ve yet to post a thread about Rick Perry. I am only commenting on your anti-Perry rampage. Look in a mirror, fellow FReeper.
I will still vote for him and wish him well if he is the nominee.
Then you might want to find out who is hijacking your account here:

I know a dying website when I see it. If I’m banned for supporting Rick Perry over the rest of the announced GOP field, so be it.

Yes, really.
Plus, Perry has been headlining Tea Party events for two years while still serving as governor of Texas. I cant say the same about a certain lady who quit her job and now is running around the country purporting to be the leader of the Tea Party Express.

“Sounded better” is about it. Not one of the candidates has taken a position on illegal immigration any stronger than Perry’s, which is a travesty. I wish we had a candidate that we could trust to tell the illegals that their presence is not desired here and that they had better leave before we find them and conficate all of their assets to compensate for the social services they have stolen.
Minor children can be deported with their parents unless an American citizen accepts responsibilty as guardian. The amcit children can sponsor their parents to come to the US once they reach 21. We have 300,000 to 400,000 anchor babies born each year. Many of them receive Medicaid and food stamps.
Enforcing immigration laws and punishing those who breach a nations borders is a federal offense. State government does not have jurisdiction. Rather, the states just bear the burden that the feds force on us.
Programs like 287 g and Secure Committees allow state and local authorities to work with the federal government in the enforcement of immigration laws.
Look, I have defended Perry on many issues, but this is one where he is flat wrong. The unfortunate part is that the other candidates really aren’t any better. They just won’t be as straight up as Perry on this issue. This is a major problem with the Rs.
Bachmann and Romney have taken stronger positions on illegal immigration than Perry who is among the weakest of all the candidates on immigration issues.
Perry has always been a conservative period! He was a conservative Democrat (so was I.) and then went to a conservative Republican about 1988. He is a fiscal and social conservative, pro-life, wants a strong defense, control of the borders, and a strong friend of Israel. I have voted for him in 3 elections and will do so again. He is flat spoken and stands up for his beliefs, and is a strong believer of states rights. He has been butting heads with Obama over immigration and the EPA. Consequently, Obama is letting TX burn and will not give TX a Emergency Disaster Declaration. I think Perry was somewhat distracted over the mess in TX right now.
The only thing electable about Perry is Romney.
You want to support those who aid, abet and reward this country killing violent invasion?
Feel free.
Which takes me right back to my first question: If Perry is the nominee, will you split the vote and vote third party or not show up?
This issue aside, we cannot afford four more years of Obama. Republican in-fighting may just deliver exactly that. I'll agree to disagree on this issue - I'm not too petty to look past one large issue in order to solve a hundred others.
Two words. His hair!
Tend to agree. I don’t have a particular favorite as yet, but if Texans thought Perry was some kind of RINO, he wouldn’t have been gov for the past ten years. All pols make mistakes, but too many conservatives can’t see the forest for the trees. Bottom line: there is no perfect candidate. However, Perry looks and sounds pretty conservative to me.
I think Perry is easily as conservative as anyone on stage except Bachmann. If she isn’t more forthright on entitlements, I may change my opinion of her. In any event, Perry had better clarify his immigration enforcement position. (Yea, I’ve voted for Perry, too, but not without some reservations).
