And so as I thought about this announcement that I wouldn't run for re-election and what it means for Alaska, I thought about how much fun some governors have as lame ducks... travel around the state, to the Lower 48 (maybe), overseas on international trade - as so many politicians do. And then I thought - that's what's wrong - many just accept that lame duck status, hit the road, draw the paycheck, and "milk it". I'm not putting Alaska through that - I promised efficiencies and effectiveness! ? That's not how I am wired. I am not wired to operate under the same old "politics as usual." I promised that four years ago - and I meant it.
No reasonable person would expect a fellow citizen to commit financial suicide...and for what, in this case?
Why don't you explain, here and now, what you mean by "when the going gets rough?"
You and they both need to get a clue.
Your two cents?
Just curious. Lots of folks on this thread say she is a master strategist who always knows what she is doing.
What indication is there of that?
Nice try, though.
Let me know when Perry has thousands of people come to see him speak in the middle of nowhere, with many of them driving hundreds of miles and waiting overnight in a rainstorm.
Even his illegal alien buddies won't go that far for him.
Cheers!
She was just sauntering. With the Iowa Pride video and today's speech, she's begun stalking her prey.
Cheers!
Until marriage, and then [censored].
(Did you notice that she and Todd have five kids?)
I'm sure she'll be worth the wait politically too.
Cheers!
I thought the same thing--except it was when she said "digging out of a hole" but Obama has said this as well. I figured the press would ignore Obama said this and just go ahead and pin it to Palin exclusively.
She's not going to get any breaks when their president is off on his dates by 3 years, and stating the US has 57 states.
No, don't move, I'll get you a mirror.
Cheers!
I'm one of the official Palin skeptics here, but that's just a silly thing to say--talk is what happens in a campaign.
I keep saying I'm done with Palin because of one thing or another, and then she makes a speech like this.
She keeps saying all the right things.
Your post is as good as Sarah Palin’s platform! I agree totally.
It's easy to say 'all the right things'. I can say 'all the right things'. It's harder to commit to making all those right things happen. I'm waiting to see if Palin is willing to do the hard things. Or if she's just going to complain about Obama and all he's done.
I mean that when she’s in a situation where there’s official responsibility (such as governor of Alaska) and the likelihood of a lot of criticism (because of her opinions), she seems to opt out. That’s how it looked to me, at least.
Obviously, on her own, she’ll get criticisms, but just the way any other outspoken conservative “pundit” would. I felt her abandonment of the Alaska governorship, just like her distancing herself from what would be the normal campaigning process, makes it look as if she can’t take the heat when she is in an actual position.
If people at this early in the process are willing to move on because Palin isn’t doing what they want, don’t see how stalwart they are.
Yeah, maybe she should wait until after Rick Perry has received all the powerful endorsements and has a campaign fund-raising machine running smoothly. Because once people start opening up their wallets and writing checks to other candidates, she'll be able to woo them back to her corner no problem.
Interesting you should mention that,
Either you are a troll or you are not informed.
Imagine if President Obama had to pay personally for every lawsuit he faces in office. He would owe millions in legal fees and be hounded out of office. Alaska was one of the few states that did not protect the governor from personal lawsuits as a result of her duties in office. She had to defend a dozen lawsuits personally and she realized that she could not pay for them.
She did the horable thing. She left office and raised the money to pay for her legal bills. These lawsuits were orchestrated directly from the Whote House.
If you are still open minded, here is a deatailed account of what happened.
The harder they fight Sarah, the more they lose.
What I find amusing is that anyone that expresses any discontent with Sarah is called a troll.
It has been months since I have seen anyone express a negative opinion of her and the discussion does not turn to name calling within two exchanges. Sarah supporters have the thinnest skins.
Lighten up.
