At least the Iowa bus business looks good in this sour nationwide economy.
Michele Bachmann is moving around her birth state in one. Next week, President Obama will pass through Iowa briefly (and Illinois and Minnesota) on his next talking-at-Americans-about-jobs outing before his next vacation.
Now comes word that Sarah Palin will bring her famous, extremely patriotic "One Nation" bus tour to the Heartland this week, allegedly for a visit to the Iowa State Fair, possibly Friday. The fair opens Thursday with a Mitt Romney speech competing with the annual carved cow in butter. Don't fail to miss that.
If you don't need to sweat within immense crowds amid the smells of livestock and anything you can imagine being fried, C-SPAN will broadcast the state fair's entire list of political speakers from Romney at the open to Bachmann at the close Friday. They're even letting one Democrat speak.
Janet Jackson will be there too, on Aug. 21, presumably with a functioning wardrobe.
Palin's not scheduled to speak at the fair. Palin doesn't need no schtinking fair to speak. She's got her Facebook page with nearly 3.25 million fans listening. And her podium over at Fox.
And the political celebrity can pretty much set up wherever she wants to park her political bus, and the crowd and media will flock over, even though she has yet to declare her intentions about a presidential candidacy.....

What if she is there to kick off Rick Perry for President. Those two are very chummy and it would be a real big deal if she gives her endorsement. Something to think about.
Not happening, nor is it pleasant to think about.
Fortunately for our country, she’s herself i running.
That would make the republican party establishment quite happy.
Looks like a fun time to be in Iowa.
For those following along at home:
At Ames Fox News debate Thursday night 8PM Central Time: Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann, Tim Pawlenty, Ron Paul, Herman Cain, Jon Huntsman, Rick Santorum, and Newt Gingrich.
Wanted to debate but refused by Fox News: Thaddeus McCotter, Gary Johnson, Fred Karger.
At Iowa State Fair Friday: Sarah Palin.
At Ames Straw Poll Saturday: Rick Santorum, Ron Paul, Tim Pawlenty, Michele Bachmann, Thaddeus McCotter, Herman Cain.
At Waterloo fundraiser Sunday: Rick Perry.
At Tea Party rally in Waukee, Iowa, on Saturday, September 3: Sarah Palin.
13 candidates
Want to bet a nice, yet not expensive steak dinner on that?
I have as much faith in my prognostications on Palins future plans as I do in those who say she is running. When I read this piece, this is what popped into my mind as to why she would be going there on such short notice. Usually this stuff is planned in advance.
Not Wagyu, just Winn-Dixie or Golden Corral, or maybe a steak burrito at Taco Bell ... LOL
She’s running yet she’s not running. How long is she going to play this? I can see people pledging themselves to other candidates because Palin is going about this the wrong way and it will backfire.
Reagan got in in November, Sarah has plenty os time, if its good enough for Reagan, its good enough for Palin.
She seems to have set herself a time limit of August/September to announce a decision, so you won’t have to hold your horses much longer. ;)
Not yet,She has to resign From Fox First and she has not done so
Right - you wish.
She’s not promoting any Gov. Gardosil. PLEEEEZE !
If anyone really backs Sarah, they are not pledging to other candidates because mrs peel thinks Sarah is doing this the wrong way.
We are in the woods, keeping our powder dry and waiting for the right time.
Patience is a virtue because it's easy to say but hard to do.
I think she will run as well. She must know that if she does not and strung so many people along with the hopes that she would run and she does not, well her political career would probably be over. People don’t forget things like that.
Looks like a fun time to be in Iowa.”
Talked with a lady who was from Iowa on a flight a couple of years ago. She said that most of the “normal people” who live there hate national elections and don’t answer their phone or turn their TV on until it’s all over.
Forgetting for the moment that one should punctuate a question with a "question mark," (?) I'd like some of whatever it is that you're smoking. Anything that can cause an otherwise functioning brain to just completely shut down like that has got to have a place in my toolkit.
Seriously. Do you think her previous bus tour wound up in New Hampshire on the same day Mitt Romney annnounced because she was "endorsing" Romney? C'mon, Laz. You're better than this.
She's going to make a great president, and you know it. Probably one of the best ever if she holds true to the form she's displayed consistently over the past 25 years.
Please. Send me some of that sh*t. I'll bet it smells great!
8^O
Until you figure out that your prognostication is based in the same way as those from the East Anglia bunch, in no basis for analytical reality, your results are destined to be just as skewed.
"Usually this stuff is planned in advance.
She is using her own bus and her own plan, not one supplied by others. That sir, is why so many like her here and also why it scares the hell out of the rest.
