[history]
Texas governor Rick Perry looks, at the moment, like the man many Republicans have been waiting for. Perry has yet to enter the presidential race - he looks likely to do so in August - but he is already polling close to ostensible frontrunner Mitt Romney.
The buzz around Perry isn't just driven by the polling. It's grounded in the fact that Perry could potentially bridge the divide between the Tea Party conservatives and the party establishment. To borrow a phrase from Perry's predecessor in the Texas governor's office, who went on to bigger things: Perry could be a uniter, not a divider, that the GOP is desperate to find.

I haven’t found anyone I can support for that particular office as yet.

Look at the so called concerned phony conservatives jumping at the chance to trash Perry ! I wonder who they are trashing Perry for ??
Probably Obama or Mittens ?????
The Paultards are all over Perry as well.
Perry is not my first choice, but he's a LOT better than Baraq or Mitt. (Paul really doesn't even figure in - he's irrelevant.)

You can understand those to whom “better than Barack” is not considered to be much of a standard, right?

We're on the same side; no need for you to feel threatened by me and act so condescending.

“Better than Barack or Mitt” won’t save the republic. It’s going to take a whole lot more than that.

My comment made sense for the context in which it was used. You are trying to take it out of context and put spin on it.
If you're spoiling for a fight, there are plenty of people on FR who visit here just to do that. Go find one of 'em.

Mirror, Mirror, on the wall
Who is the purist conservative of all?
The reality is that someone like Alan Keyes will never be president of the United States of America. Yes, I know who and what you are now.

It was you that was spoiling for the fight. I was simply gently chiding you, because if that attitude is allowed to be the rule again, it will lead to another John Judas McCain. After all, “he wasn’t as bad as Obama.” We can’t afford that crap. We need real principled statesmanship in the country desperately.

Agreed. This is not the time to throw in the towel. This is the time to vet all of our potential candidates.

Oh, stop misquoting me just so that you can climb a little higher on your pedestal.
I wish you could see yourself through more rational eyes.
Try being part of the solution instead of part of the problem.
Your first step in that direction will be to get over yourself.

If the standard is Obama, we’re doomed.
Why does this simple principled but practical message offend you so much?

If the standard is Obama, were doomed. Then perhaps you should stop thinking Obama is the standard. You appear to be the one promoting that.
If you'd spend a little more time researching someone's posts to gauge where they stand and less time thumping your chest and jumping to conclusions in an attempt to make yourself look superior, you might not come off as such a self-absorbed snotrag.
You appear to be one of those people whose philosophy is, "If you don't think exactly like I DO, you're wrong!" Unfortunately, that seems to be an all too common malady these days.
You sound like a Paultard. If that's the case, then I see where your attitude comes from and you have my pity.
More teamwork, less arrogance. As I said, stop being part of the problem.

I don’t support Ron Paul. Never have, never will.
