Why Sarah Palin is Running for President
Yahoo! News / Associated Content ^ | June 30, 2011 | Mark Whittington

Posted on 06/30/2011 3:25:33 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

In the wake of the official premiere in Pella, Iowa, of her biographical film "The Undefeated," former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is still keeping people guessing. "Will she or won't she?" Run for president, that is.

The fact that the question is even asked should contain within it an answer. But to further elaborate, Nicole Coulter (no relation to Ann_Coulter) offers "Six Clues Palin is Running for President."

The clues are: "1 -- For what reason would Mrs. Palin insert herself into the 2010 election cycle? Why go out of her way to 'endorse' local candidates all over the United States? And mostly TEA Party and grassroots conservative candidates?

"2 -- For what reason would Mrs. Palin take her entire family on a 'bus tour' of historic sites around the United States? The key here is the BUS. If she wanted to tour these sites, she could easily do it in her family vehicle. Why stir up all the attendant media coverage?

"3 -- For what possible reason would Mrs. Palin need a movie about her political career? Remember, she had her staff approach Mr. Bannon about making some 'short' segments. It was Mr. Bannon who made the decision to make a 2-hour movie, using his own money. Why didn't she just say no?

"4 -- Why is she supporting this movie with appearances all over the United States? What is the point of traveling all over the U.S., generating press coverage everywhere, and shaking hands and speaking with people, voters, in every locale?

"5 -- Why are there O4P organizations in over_30_states, especially in all of the early primary states? Why didn't Mrs. Palin just tell these people to stop? Is she that callous, that she would allow these people to waste their time and energy in this manner?(continued)

“Reagan did not make it official until Nov 13th, 1979.”

Yes, Reagan did not make it official until......... NOVEMBER 13.

People here are pretty smart they will figure it out.

You can then sell tickets to see it and then donate that money to Sarah minus, of course, the cost of popcorn for all. ;)

I’m with FightforFreedomCA on this one. Sincerely doubt you were planning to vote for Sarah anyway if your impatience is all it takes to drive you away.

Sarah does things when she feels it is right for her. I guess that’s part of her success - she doesn’t jump through anyone else’s hoop. So if you want a candidate who does it your way, your timing - stick with Michelle.

Follow this same logic and you'd have to conclude Newt Gingrich is a sincere and authentic presidential candidate.

He went through all the motions -- at least up until he took that vacation overseas.

But it doesn't look like he is in it to win it.

Palin may be running.

But I'd love to do all the stuff she's doing now without the downside of getting elected president.

Who wouldn't?

It’s almost a year before the election and that was the date Reagan declared.

Want to make the media go apoplectic, this is how you do it. They will spend the next year comparing Palin to Reagan. What are they going to say? Everything Reagan did, Palin did.

Add in a movie about how the media crucified her and pele will start to wake up.

This is going to be classic.

Um, when she announces, do you need to be on suicide watch?

We'll put crack people on your detail.

My take. I believe she has too much character to play coy and then bug out and run away from a fight vs Obama. I think, like me, she knows a second term of his would be a disaster. To wait and muddle through another four years would put our country at risk.

I think that most of her negatives were invented. She can overcome just by being herself and showing the electorate who she is, bypassing the press as much as possible.

Her decency shines through. It’s a kind of magic that I’ve not seen in a politician since RR. She defies easy analysis.

If I’m wrong about her and she does not declare,

There is even more to it. Here you go.

https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:RzioJxvfkFUJ:www.politico.com/pdf/PPM41_reagan_story.pdf+Reagan+campaign+1980+resignations&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESj4xVkMrnMoW4kl_Cxc61zurOfOZ-xHiGOG9q1z5KGqwKNAWajVu7NqfnXm7fE8HfXXMmlB-pr7mJEV1LyKEL_wVCq5ASZJvdvq4ZWCtsfCQyS85Djx9zQAvf89esomJ-tmLOs3&sig=AHIEtbSxtiVfhG6kAAlH2hRB5T2PxCdnbw

“Remember the 1980 Campaign:

During the summer of 1979, Ronald Reagan’s campaign reported that it was broke. The candidate had to explain his weak fundraising and big spending, as well as overcome doubts about his age and ability. The campaign faced the decision of closing its doors or accepting restrictive federal matching funds. Reagan lost the Iowa caucus. Not only that, the campaign also experienced a dramatic staff shake-up in the middle of the primary season. But by the spring of 1980, closing in on the nomination, the Washington Post wrote, “As Ronald Reagan sees it, the seeds of his victory in the Republican presidential contest were sown in the dark hours of defeat.”

As the second quarter of 1979 came to a close, Ronald Reagan did not lead the Republican candidates in fundraising. He didn’t even come in second. As a matter of fact, Reagan trailed Rep. Philip M. Crane of Illinois, former Texas Gov. John Connally, and former CIA Director George Bush. Reagan not only lagged in fundraising, he outspent the other candidates, burning through $1.3 million of the $1.4 million the campaign had raised. Things only got worse—by September, the campaign was $500,000 in debt. By January, the campaign ultimately decided to take federal matching funds and the strict spending limits that accompanied them.

In addition to financial distress, the campaign also endured internal staff disputes. In December, 1979, campaign director John Sears moved to oust a trio of close senior Reagan advisers: Lyn Nofziger, Mike Deaver, and Marty Anderson. Ronald Reagan then lost the Iowa caucuses to George Bush on January 21. Then, on the day of the New Hampshire primary, February 26, Reagan took the dramatic step of firing top leadership and bringing in Bill Casey. Many other top staffers also left, either being let go or resigning. Reagan ended up winning New Hampshire by a ratio of 2:1. Ultimately, when Ronald Reagan took control of his own campaign, he started to see successes. In this way, “the seeds of his victory” really were “sown in the dark hours of defeat.” By March of 1980, the National Journal reported that Ronald Reagan had a “commanding lead” for the Republican nomination.”

She’s already done kingmaker - more than anyone else has. Let someone else pick up that baton. Doubt anyone will.

NEVER saw such obsession about anyone before.

You got that right -- it's pathological. Seemed to reach its height right before the release of her (tens of thousands of) emails last month. The Left was frothing at the mouth like never before, expecting blood. The KNEW they'd find countless stuff with which to beat her on the head for the foreseeable future. When they found nothing, they went into a serious depression. Now they're venting their boundless hatred for conservative women at Bachmann, due to her recent impressive poll #s. But if Palin jumps in the race, they'll re-direct back to her again quickly.

Exactly. She’s about We the People and that is what the Tea Party is.

I wish she could wait until after the holidays, so she can enjoy them with her family. But, OK, Nov 13th it is. I marked 11-13 on my calendar - go to bank. ;)

It will be another thing to be thankful for on Thanksgiving Day.
