On the Tea Party side of the GOP, the noise is all about Texas Gov. Rick Perry. While there are devotees of Sarah Palin, Ron Paul, Herman Cain and Michele Bachmann, Perry is the kind of mainstream-acceptable candidate the movement would need to prevail in the presidential contest.
With the Wall Street Journal doing a takeout piece on Perry, the east coast media is waking up a bit to Perrys potential in a still unsettled field.
Perrys peeps are measuring the possibilities for a campaign, especially given the high cost associated with taking on the deep pockets of Mitt Romney. But one former and potentially future consultant to the governor told Power Play that the money would be there.
The theory is that if Perry could use support from the oil industry and the other booming businesses of Texas to provide seed money, he could launch the kind of low-dollar national fundraising appeal that could quickly build a war chest while simultaneously enhancing his profile with Republicans.
Running from Texas is not like running from any other state, the former adviser said.

The sanctuary city bill, the TSA bill, and some others on the list I can’t recall offhand...he stood up strong regarding defunding Planned Parenthood by $61 million...I gave him a plus on that one...but he should’ve been busy this whole legislative session getting these bills passed instead of sitting back and watching them shoved to the end of the session and not taking an early stance. That’s now how the job gets done...and there’s a much, much bigger problem in Washington DC. The person that goes to the White House has to MOVE IT!
FoxNews and the RINOs hate Palin and conservatives just like liberals. They must be getting desperate if they are beginning to push Perry - too “right wing” by Fox standards - in hopes to stop Sarah and/or serious conservatives.
But people should better look into his record. Starting with immigration. Not saying he would make a bad candidate or president. Just urging caution. And wanting more than words. America is about to catch or lose the last train to get back on its feet.
And I would like to see some focus on Congressional races. As much as the president is important, it is the Congress that makes laws after all and it must be taken and held by solid conservatives for as long as possible.
More of this RINO quagmire and people will begin to lose heart and fall back into the woodworks or go third party. That’d mean democrats forever and full fledged socialism by 2016 when who wins the election won’t matter anymore. Just like in Europe, where “conservatives” are big-gov’t centrist democrats by US standards. Goodbye Founders, goodbye America.
Uh oh
Why don't you ever hear "Obama" and "mainstream-acceptable candidate" in the same sentence?
.
The clowns we have to choose from thus far suck.
I am not a huge fan of Perry, but
compared to Romney, Newt, and the rest of JOKES running for President hes a rock star.
Texas has been voted #1 business climate for the last seven years.
Texas has been getting all of Californias jobs.
Perry must be doing something right.
We need a good business guy right now.
Perry has proved it.

(Odumbo says everybody should speak a foreign language, but he CANT)
. Fighting with Obama on many fronts
Google Perry/Obama and you will see hes been fighting him and his government for the past two years.
. Since Perry has been Governor of Texas, Texas has added more than 850,000 jobs, more than all other states combined. Texas has added over 180,000 jobs since August of 2009.
. There is no such thing as Perrycare
. Signed into law sonogram and explanation by physician before abortion
. Signed into law, photo ID ident to vote
. Perry did not apply for federal Race to the Top education funds because he said it would force national standards upon Texas.

. He said last year that President Barack Obama was hell-bent on turning America into a socialist country.
. Won governorship of state with lots of latinos
. According to this web site Texas is #1 this year and last year for business friendly.

Obama would not want not run against a governor that has the BEST business climate in the U.S. when everything else is in a depression.
. He used to be a Democrat. So? So did Reagan.
. The Bushs dont like him
. Perry has a reputation for not sweating
He refused to raise taxes when Texas faced a record $10 billion budget shortfall in 2003. Instead, he was the first Texas governor since World War II to sign a budget that lowered state spending (and has now done it twice). As governor, Perry has used his line item veto to cut over $3 billion in proposed spending.
In 2005, Perry signed a historic $15.7 billion property tax cut for homeowners and businesses that also included new taxpayer protections against appraisal increases. In 2009, Gov. Perry secured a tax cut for approximately 40,000 small businesses in Texas and protected the Rainy Day Fund for future challenges.
He led the battle to pass the countrys most sweeping lawsuit reforms, closing the door on junk lawsuits that had been making trial lawyers rich while driving countless doctors either out of the state or the profession all together. Since Texas voters approved these reforms, malpractice claims and premiums have fallen and access to healthcare is increasing across the state as doctors have applied in droves to practice in Texas.
. He has never lost an election, including an elementary school contest for king of the Paint Creek School Carnival. He secured that win by handing out pennies for votes.
.Perry is pro-life and opposes government funding for elective abortions. In 2005, Perry, a social conservative, signed a bill that limited late-term abortions and required girls under the age of 18 who procure abortions to notify their parents. Perry signed the bill in the gymnasium of Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Worth, an evangelical Christian school.
. Perry is also known for his socially conservative views on homosexuality, and he opposes same sex marriage. He condemned the United States Supreme Court decision in Lawrence vs. Texas, which struck down a Texas sodomy law. He called the law appropriate.
. Christian religious beliefs
In what was described as a God and country sermon at the Cornerstone church in San Antonio, attended by Perry and other mostly Republican candidates, the Rev. John Hagee stated, If you live your life and dont confess your sins to God Almighty through the authority of Christ and His blood, Im going to say this very plainly, youre going straight to hell with a nonstop ticket. Perry was asked if he agreed with those comments and said, It is my faith, and Im a believer of that.[39] Perry went on to say that there was nothing in the sermon that he took exception with. Humorist and entertainer Kinky Friedman, the Jewish independent candidate for governor in the 2006 election, said, He doesnt think very differently from the Taliban, does he? Carole Keeton Strayhorn disagreed with Perrys comments, and Democrat Chris Bell said that one who is in public office should respect people of all faiths and denominations. Conservatives then responded, arguing that Perry had a right to his religious beliefs, and that he was not disrespecting Americans of other religious convictions.[40] While visiting Israel in August 2009, Perry gave an interview to the Jerusalem Post in which he affirmed his support for Israel from his religious background, Im a big believer that this country was given to the people of Israel a long time ago, by God, and thats ordained.
. Environmental issues
Perry does not believe there is valid scientific proof of anthropogenic global warming. He has said several times that there is no scientific consensus on the issue.[69] In a September 7, 2007, speech to California Republicans, Perry said, Virtually every day another scientist leaves the global warming bandwagon. ... But you wont read about that in the press because they have already invested in one side of the story.
. Inauguration concert controversy
Perry invited his friend, rock musician Ted Nugent, to perform at a black-tie gala hours after Perrys second inauguration ceremony on January 16, 2007. Nugent appeared onstage during the inaugural ball wearing a cutoff T-shirt emblazoned with the Confederate flag and shouting derogatory remarks about non-English speakers, according to press reports.[79] The NAACP condemned Nugents flying of the Confederate flag, but he denied intentionally making any racially offensive comments and stated that the flag is a symbol of southern heritage
Misc:
. He played quarterback on the six-man football team for the Paint Creek Pirates. He also played basketball and ran track.
. He is an Eagle Scout and wrote a book about the Boy Scouts, On My Honor.
Rick Perry uses the Boy Scouts to draw a battle line in what he considers a culture war, defending them against the American Civil Liberties Union and what he sees as a moral struggle for the countrys future.
The book also traces a 30-year history of litigation involving the Scouts most of which they won which Perry considers an attack on traditional values and faith in God.
Perry targets the ACLU as the primary force behind a leftist push to accept homosexuality and challenge Scoutings duty to God.

_______________
It's seems that Fox is suddenly pushing for the GOP to nominate a "mainstream-acceptable" candidate.
Mainstream: "a prevailing current or direction of activity or influence" .... Websters Dictionary.
In this case, a "mainstream-ACCEPTABLE" candidate means:
"A candidate that SIXTY FIVE PRECENT (65%) of all voters have not already REJECTED".
SIXTY FIVE PRECENT (65%) of all voters have said, "We will DEFINITELY NOT vote for Sarah Palin."
Given the choice between:
A.) The blind and irrational worship and nomination of Sarah Palin that guarantees the reelection of Barack Husein Obama
and
B.) A three term Governor of Texas or anybody else with a conservative record that can actually beat Barack Hussein Obama
Some of us actually prefer B.
Look at the poll.
The blind acceptance of Sarah Palin is a position held by only 8% of all voters.
"We must get Sarah Palin nominated
even if that guarantees the reelection
of Barack Hussein Obama
to the Presidency."
Believing that Sarah Palin will win the Presidency when SIXTY FIVE PRECENT (65%) of all voters have stated that they will DEFINITELY NOT vote for Sarah Palin is not a "mainstream" belief if "mainstream" is further defined as "greater than 8% of the American electorate".
How many voters have to declare that they will DEFINITELY NOT vote for Sarah Palin before the Palin Worshipers finally admit to themselves that a Sarah Palin nomination absolutely GUARANTEES the reelection of Barack Hussein Obama?
70%?
75%?
80%?
85%?
90%?
95%?
100%?
I understated it earlier......Karl Rove actually advised and did consulting work against Rick Perry in his last election, it looks like Perry is a real deal enemy of the Bush family.
What a crock of sh!t.
ANYTHING, ANYONE except "she who must not be named."
Who do they think they're kidding? Nobody on the Tea Party wants him.
Besides, after LBJ and Dubya, we've had far too many Texans as President.
And everyone knows, Texas is a small state compared to Alaska.
Cheers!
Ummm ....No.
When SIXTY FIVE PERCENT (65%) of voters say that they will DEFINITELY NOT vote for Sarah Palin .....
..... then Sarah Palin, as a viable candidate, is outside of the mainstream.
As I asked before:
How many voters have to declare that they will DEFINITELY NOT vote for Sarah Palin before the Palin Worshipers finally admit to themselves that a Sarah Palin nomination absolutely GUARANTEES the reelection of Barack Hussein Obama?
70%?
75%?
80%?
85%?
90%?
95%?
100%?
TSA and campus carry. If Governor Perry walks out on his commitment to the people of Texas without at least making an effort to pass those two bills to which he’s paid so much lip service, he’s going to leave a lot of Texans with a bad taste in their mouths.
Being opposed to someone because they are from Texas is profoundly stupid.
Perry is personally involved in business in Texas. I know someone who works for the State who he personally contacted to get red tape straightened out for a medical tech start up company.
He takes Texas business expansion seriously. Texas is not hot on welfare; is hot on jobs and private industry. That is Perry - all the way - in Texas.
I don’t know if he’s a globalist... meaning if he would be as single minded to advance the US economy at home as he is for the Texas economy within the State. If he’s a globalist, he will serve the interests of foreign governments and multinational billionaires and would give a flying freak about US jobs. Hard to tell what he would do at a National level. He is not a socialist.
It has more to do with congress and less with the president. If we elect conservatives consistently at the congressional level...we don’t have to worry about the president...too much.
Yes, the president has influence and power...but the congress is just as powerful and influential.
