Is This Palin's Secret Weapon in Iowa?

DES MOINES, Iowa—Prominent Republicans here pretty much splinter into two camps on the question of whether Sarah Palin will jump into the 2012 presidential race.

One side points to a mysterious California lawyer named Peter Singleton as proof the former Alaska governor will definitely run. The other side points to Mr. Singleton as proof she won't.

"When it comes to Palin in Iowa, it's pretty much Peter Singleton," said Iowa Tea Party Director Ryan Rhodes. "The guy is everywhere."

Crisscrossing the state in a series of rented cars, the 56-year-old Mr. Singleton has spent the better part of five months visiting obscure county GOP chairmen, befriending tea-party activists, buttonholing lawmakers in the lobby of the state Capitol, and amassing a database of potential Palin supporters. His base camp is the Days Inn in West Des Moines, where he washes his shirts in the sink.

Deepening the mystery: Mr. Singleton swears he has never met Ms. Palin and has no contact with her team. "I'm just a dedicated activist working on my own," he said.

Ms. Palin's aides concur, insisting that she hasn't met with Mr. Singleton and that he is in no way coordinating with her political-action committee.

But not many Republicans here buy the lone-wolf theory....

It's the absolute truth, 2DV. The left, the RINOs, and the PDSers' heads are going to spin when Mt. Palin erupts. It's going to blow them over like an atomic blast.

Same here. I've already given fair warning to my wife, that when Sarah announces, I'm off to the nearest Palin campaign office to sign up.

I haven't honestly worked a political campaign in over 30 years, but I'll be out there pounding the pavement for Sarah.

The minute Sarah declares, the other candidates can kiss themselves goodnight. I know people who are Sarah supporters, and they told me they're not even paying attention to politics right now until Sarah declares.

And they're not supporting anyone else unless Palin doesn't run and endorses the candidate of her choice.

So...why are more of us doing the same thing as Mr. Singleton? Couldn’t we be working the GOP leaders in every state? I’m already working the delegates and talking to everybody I meet. I already have a file of folks who will be voting. I’m finding that people are not talking about her to each other, but if they find out (in private) they will reveal that they think she is the only candidate with guts to say what needs to be said and that she deserves to be president because she has worked the hardest for the party.

Just talked to a friend this week; tough guy who has been a biker/truck driver in the past. He’s for her and I never would have guessed it. I think there are many many people out there like him. They’re just not talking because of the ridicule of the left, but they will silently go to the polls and vote for her. Sticking it to the left.

You don’t have to raise your 2 million until she declares; however, it’s a good thing to start getting connected. Email your state coordinator for O4P to get the ball rolling.
