[None of this changes the fact, though, that she will not win a national election.]

None of this changes the fact, though, that I am the handsomest and smartest guy in the world!

I love stating offhand facts that cannot be challenged.

I know that most of Sarah fans have read her two books, but lately I’ve been reading a couple of other books that were written about her. “Sarah Palin, a New Kind of Leader” by Joe Hilley and “Sarah Takes On Big Oil” by Kay Cashman & Kristen Nelson. Both these books give us a better look at how Sarah operates in positions of authority. My estimation of her ability has about doubled since reading these books. How a leader is perceived by the public they serve speaks volumes about his/her leadership. I suggest all of Sarah’s supporters should read these books. You can get used ones very cheap at Amazon.

That you think that: ".......Ted Nugent would make a hell fo a president................" speaks to the point of your lack of political judgment.

Her command of the facts is not "mediocre".

Her purported negatives are hogwash and created by the media. Some people can overcome a media onslaught and like Reagan and Nixon, she is one of them.

If she isn't the GOP nominee, Obama will win; though not in a some mega landslide, as a few posters here have claimed.

Beating Obama, next time around, won't be as easy as some posters here claim. It'll be a tough slog and there isn't anyone else,in that GOP crowd of nobodies, nothings, and retreads, except Mrs. Plain, with even a whisper of a chance of doing so.

And no, I am not a "cultists", nor delusional. What I am is a life long ( from childhood and my salad days are long gone ) observer of politics/the political scene. If Palin throws her hat in the ring, she's the only one with the guts to do what must be done.

You can't name me a single person who can compare to her, who is/might/people want to run. And the true kicker is that the Dems know it and that is why she has been hammered for the past 2+ years.

Cain will be destroyed in a New York minute and I doubt that he can stand it.

Daniels is boooooooooooring, is has been cowed by the unions, looks like a shmow ( which shouldn't matter, but it has, since the days of the JFK V Nixon televised debate ),has very little name recognition, and little grassroots backing.

Trump? DONALD FREAKING TRUMP ? Look, if you want someone with perhaps even more baggage than Newtie, a worse flip flopper than Mitt, and a political neophyte, who has NEVER run for political office before, then you just proved that your political instincts are beyond lousy. He's switched political parties ( registration ) many times over, gave $50,000 to Rahm Emmanuel for his mayoral run, and as bad as his known scandals are, GOD only knows what is hidden,skeleton-wise, in his numerous closets. FYI.........tons of people HATE "the Donald" worse than those who hate Palin, so you are just a PDSer!

Try finding out the facts about those whom you imagine you like, before deciding that you like them!

Everybody here keeps selling Romney short because we hate him (deservedly). The problem is that he’s a RINO. Lot’s of people like RINOs! There is no other major candidate on the GOP side that would appeal so much to the old tyme wishy-washy Rockefeller/McCain/Dole wing of the party. If the conservative vote splits in the primaries Romney could cake walk to the nomination.

Who will go on to prove that Obama can, indeed, win re-election by a landslide of Reaganesque proportions.

There is nothing Reaganesque about Obama.

There are enough idiots, as exposed right here on FR, who will vote for Trump, rather than Mitt, so that would split that vote.

There are far too many people "thinking" about/being suggested/actually getting in, who shouldn't, this time around. There were far too many last time and looked what THAT got us!

Romney couldn't win the primaries last time, why do you believe that he can do it this time?

"Romney couldn't win the primaries last time, why do you believe that he can do it this time?"

Because McCain isn't running. McCain ran in 2000, lost the nomination to Bush. McCain ran in 2008 and won the nomination. Romney is McCain-lite.

“She’s coming in with super-high negatives from the start. Nobody in this position who has gotten the nomination has ever won the Presidency”

Folks on FR don’t want to acknowledge this. I’m not too thrilled with Huckabee like I was in 2008, but I believe he can beat Obama in a general election...I don’t think Palin can. OR what I should say is it would be harder for her to win than Huckabee. Her supporters are almost fanatical, but her detractors balance that out. Huckabee is more even keel in public preception. No fanatical followers and no extreme detractos (except among FR posters). Although I like this forum, the malevolence towards Huckabee was surprizing to me.

That just isn't going to happen! It isn't Mitten's "turn".

And just look at the list of squishes who are going to throw their hats into the ring/talked as as though they are going to.

And then there's Donald Trump. If he actually does get in it ( which I have grave doubts about ), he'll take votes away from Mitt.

The "possibles" are so many, that Mitt has about as much chance as Ron Raul does and I don't think that Paul is going to do it again.

The polls taken this far out have no meaning at all; especially since so few have even done preliminary paperwork.

I’m not a huge Huck fan either, but you’re probably right.

My beef with Huckabee was that he seemed too eager to do nanny-state type stuff like smoking bans, etc.

Huckabee hasn't made a single sound about even contemplating a run. And he can not beat Obama, since many can't stand him and the ones who don't know much about him, WILL find out all about him, should he ( spit ) be the nominee.

Why on earth are you surprised that so many here can't stand him? Those who fall into that category know his record.

Why on earth would someone who usually is a GOP voter vote for him, when he has recently endorsed Michelle Obama's NANNY STATE pronouncements ?

Huckabee is Clinton-lite.

All one has to do is look at his record when he was governor, to see that. Oh..............and his Dukakis like record in paroling garbage, who later murdered innocents, is another nail in his coffin.

Ironically, that could be the best thing that has happened in a long time. That would, I predict, result in a Tea Party candidate with a real chance of winning. If that happened, the Republican party would be forced to capitulate to conservatives.

Yes, I’m told many don’t like being banned from unhealthy practices. That is a fine line to walk.

I’m more concerned about his being, what I perceive, as wishy washy on clear cut moral issues like allowing open homosexuals in the military...he has danced around that one.

“Why on earth are you surprised that so many here can’t stand him? Those who fall into that category know his record.”

My experience here during the 2008 primaries was that the dislike for Huckabee was based more upon the fact he drew votes away from someone else’s pet candidate than “his record.” Of course libetarians can’t stand him nor those that lack any compassion. Of course, Mike’s compassion has caused him to make some very bad calls (i.e. some of the pardons he granted).

I don’t like his more recent tendency to be wishy washy on moral issues where I think he should be more dogmatic and not diplomatic.

Whatever, I don’t think he intends to run. However, if “credible” (I don’t know if the in question one is that) show him with support, and checkbooks start coming out, that could change.

I know that I won’t “kick a buck for huck” until he shows me more moral spine. I doubt he will.

Like most I like Palin, but I don’t like her extreme fanatical following that cannot she her faults. They make her distasteful, not Sarah herself. However, I do not see why she is so hated by the press? For that matter, I don’t understand why they so loved Obama? Must all be stoned or drunk.

Extremely good point. If Palin’s not the candidate Mitt most likely is, with Huck the only possiblity to stop him. Mitt or Huck will make the Dems very happy.

Hi Kabwe deserves the malevolence on this forum. He’s not an honest man.

We need to look at character in our candidates. Certain candidates who seem to want the presidency because of a long history (often after a neglected childhood) of personal neediness should be ruled out, because they are dangerous.

Look at bill Clinton and Barack obama. Perfect examples. George w. Bush was not a desperately needy man. He came from a tight family who gave him plenty of attention. He was able to understand that the presidency was not there for him to be a royal, but to Serve Us. There is a huge difference.

Huckabee is a man who lies about important and unimportant things, which is a very dangerous trait. He would be, and was, dangerous in power. What he did when he son committed atrocities is a good display of his character under pressure. We don’t need another inveterate liar in our white house.
