President Barack Obama is one of America's best politicians ever, according to one of his potential rivals for re-election in 2012.
"The president is one of the greatest politicians in the history of the United States," Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour said Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press."
Barbour's comments came during a discussion of Wisconsin's budget battle - a fight that's sparked widespread protests as Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has tried to curtail collective bargaining rights for public employees.
Obama is "quiet [on the issue] because most Americans know this has to be done,"

What other politician in our history has had the print media, Hollywood, cable news, Broadway, the music industry, the nutroots, cable TV, the alphabet networks, academia, the other party’s elites and the magazines in his pocket?
Great politician = great liar.
I think that is what was meant.
Barbour’s comment, no matter how well one might interpret it, is wholly lacking in any moral judgment.
In this generation, in these times, we desperately need men and women of refined moral judgment.
Barbour’s comment is in that regard, contemptible.

Obama, like Clinton, are great politicians. BFD! They promote liberalism and NOT Americanism.
I’d rather have someone like Reagan. A great politician, a great statesman and a great leader. Reagan always put America first and kept American interests front and center.
If the American media was as conservative as they are liberal there would be no Democrats elected anywhere.
As LBJ said, “The more I give these N....s. The more they love me”. Did that make LBJ great? NO It does not make Obama great either.
Boss Hogg ain’t got a prayer. If he were running a few years ago, maybe. But times have changed. He is a good governor, great RNC chair, but his inside the beltway lobbing type is not popular these days. And frankly, not needed. We have enough of his type already in Washington.
Wrong superlative, s/b most deceptive.
I would think that being a great politician would mean that your able to move fence sitters and even some on the other side of the fence to your position. In Bamy’s case, more and more chickens are flying the coop for multitudinous reasons, not the least of which are:
1) he shoots his mouth off before getting all the facts and his sentiments always winds up on the wrong side of the issue; 2) he has weekend America’s position in the world, which I’d say is one way he is succeeding with his prescription for his America, but which most Americans do not agree with; 3) he has no idea how and why a free market economy works and what is needed for it to trend toward prosperity... he’s a 360 flunky.
I think Barbour is just buttering up to the MSM so he can get a full hearing from them. Unfortunately, nice is not what we need for a GOP Presidential nominee. An Allen West type is what we need.
This is like a Southerner saying “bless his heart.”
It’s a jab at Obama wrapped in false compliments. Obama is not supporting the work of Walker in Wisconsin. He is supporting the unions. But he has to hide that support because he lost in public opinion polls when he went out acting and talking like a radical community organizer.
So now he is silent and Barber is assigning that silence to Obama’s support of budget cuts which Obama “knows has to be done.” He’s such a smart politican...yeah.
No disagreement at all, it is what it is.
Being a “great politician” is like puking on your shoes.
Not something to be very proud of.
Where the hell is the barf alert!!?? Doing some deep breathing at this time.
Did someone spike Barbour’s orange juice with LSD? What is this man thinking — or NOT? Good heavens, Haley. Wake up and smell the coffee.
What an idiot...Barbour must know the Kenyan would be NOWHERE without his war room of MSM/DNC/Hollywood/Academia.
Why do Republicans feel the need to get on TV and lie to the public about Obama and his goals?
He said he’s a ‘great politician,’ not a great leader. It would take a super duper great politician to go from a total unknown community organizer to president of the (formerly) most powerful nation on Earth. If you took that as a compliment from Barbour, you might want to rethink that.
It’s an insult of the greatest order! He’s saying Obama is a lying reptile with absolutely no substance to support him...and he’s correct.
