Rep. Michele Bachmann made history tonightnot just for being the first representative of the Tea Party to give a State of the Union response, but also for flatly refusing to look America in the eye.
Bachmann, who came equipped with charts and Iwo Jima photos, began her speech looking slightly off camera. As Bachmann spoke, viewersincluding the former MSNBC host Keith Olbermanntook to Twitter to ask a simple question: whats she looking at?
As Olbermann tweeted, Why isnt Rep. Bachmann LOOKING AT THE DAMNED CAMERA? He added later, Seriously, somebody at the Tea Party needs to run on the stage, grab her, and POINT TO WHERE THE CAMERA IS.
On CNN, Erick Erickson reported that Bachmann mistakenly focused on a camera recording the speech for the Tea Party Express, instead of the other camera capturing the speech live for the entire country. Jeepers.
Compared to President Obamas traditional SOTU speech, and Rep. Ryans response, the Bachmann speech was unique. It had charts and multimedia, and it had the weird vibe of listening to a person who seems to be talking to somebody else.
The experiencecarried exclusively on CNNleft media critics like Eric Deggans thinking one thing: SNL. I cannot wait to see what SNL dies with slightly creepy Michelle Bachmann response to #SOTU. Please let Kristen Wiig play her
Watch it here, from CNN:

It was disconcerting to watch, like trying to have a conversation with someone who keeps peering over one’s left shoulder.
Whoever did the set-up did Rep. Bachmann a terrible disservice.
LOL
Me, a Tea Party supporter, already said the same thing in this thread!

Michelle Bachmann must scare you...she did a great speech, she said what we American, taxpayers, voters wanted to hear..
Obama’s speech was a prep for relection..his third SOTUS and they all three sounded the same and we have done nothing but gotten deeper into debt and a little bit older...
100% BS.
Find me a single post in my history where I’ve ever said anything nice about Romney, or shut up after apologizing to me.
Did she borrow one of Obama’s TelePrompTers?
Read again my posts in this thread, FRiend. I apologize for my earlier post, but being smeared as a Romney supporter because I was disappointing in what I view a lost opportunity for Bachman is uncalled for, isn’t it?
Two cameras? BS.
I have a phrase for you
Pi$$ and Moan
$itch and Groan....
sorry the devil made me say that........
carole
haircutter
Good grief.
Even salt of the earth teaparty folk ought to be able to pull off a basic video production. Being grassroots doesn't mean we have to be Jed Clampett.
Then let's at least be average. The average small-town TV producer could have pulled this off. This was well below average.
didn't bother to check your ‘history’ and not interested. nice talk...
bitch and moan must be a part of your life style...my apology was to the other posters that read my post..wasn't meant for you personally..
Yikes, Jed Clampett?
Wow.
You two had better get your considerable production skills on a resume and do some volunteering for the TP!
I thought it was great also. Too bad a lot of the children here with short attention span syndrome, did not get the message as they were distracted because Michelle wasn’t looking at the camera. Now, that seems more important to them than what she actually said.
She did a great job. She spoke clearly & explained in simple every day terms that all could relate too.Who cares where she looked or about her eye makeup,it’s her words that matter.I give her an A.
Hey, you accused me of being a Romney supporter.
Plus, couldn’t protesting be called “pissing and moaning” by some people?
Heck, I just call it giving my opinion, which is what I’m doing in this thread. Blind loyalty is for the left; I think we as the Tea Party need to improve on tonight’s production, and I’ll express it until my opinion is no longer wanted on FR.
Why isn’t Keith talking about this on “Countdown”, instead of on Twitter?...oh, yeah...
The "children" here (I assume I am a child to you) have heard the message here in the past and agree with it. That's not the point, though. Attacking the messenger isn't going to accomplish anything, is it? What's wrong with trying to improve, so at the next opportunity, we don't look like something from an SNL skit in terms of production to those who haven't heard the message?
Whoa!! I didn’t write my post to you nor mention you in my post. Is this one of those, If the shoe fits wear it, moments. LOL So you see yourself as who I was talking about? what does that tell you.
Yeah, 65 states really isn’t swaying many voters, we need to be polished like obozo. You really haven’t got a clue. You must have missed the focus group.
Pray for America
So, who “here” were you referencing in your post? I’ve yet to see a single poster disgree with Michelle’s message.
