Former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney holds a commanding lead in New Hampshire in the early stages of the race for the 2012 Republican Presidential nomination, according to a new survey commissioned by NH Journal and conducted by Magellan Strategies. The survey is the first statewide survey of Granite State Republicans and Republican-leaning independents in 2011.
Romney leads former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin by 23 points, with Romney earning 39% and Palin earning 16%. Mike Huckabee (10%)...

I think I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating:
The state next door and he can’t break fifty? Are you freaking kidding me?
That's my whole point. Why let these people choose our candidates for us? We should have our earliest primaries in states like Oklahoma, Texas, Georgia, Mississippi, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, and Arizona. We are shooting ourselves in the foot by allowing frontrunner status being assigned by Iowa and New Hampshire.
NH Ping
Romney DID win the Republican vote in 2008...it was DEMOCRATS crossing over to vote for McCain that gave him the victory...New Hampshire has an ‘open primary’!!!
Amen, amen, amen! Why are we letting DEMOCRATS and libertarians pick our candidate? South Carolina should go first...
New Hampshire should be irrelevant in the republican race. They certainly can’t predict who will win. Look at 2008, who did New Hampshire pick?
John McCain.
Oh. Never mind.
No, it isn't. They do NOT like Sarah in NH, and if she gets beaten badly in the primary; the media will pull out all the stops to kill her momentum right out of the gate. That is the plan. The same would apply to Bachmann.
Looks like the recent coordinated character assassination by the “elite” Republicans against Palin is working. Note that they haven’t been exactly openly rooting for Romney- but that is the strategy.
All of that didn’t help Romney in 2008, when he lost the state to John McCain, who everybody had written off as a lost cause.
Republicans chose Romney...it was the crossover dems and libertarians that chose McCain. They wanted the weakest GOP candidate, and they got him.
You really think democrats were crossing over in New Hampshire when they had a highly competitive race on their side?
True, but you had the white shod RNC backing McCain, and the Dems voting for McCain in the primary too.
But I thought Sarah couldn’t win especially in the sophisticated northeast.
Interesting that you quote George Romney. Also interesting that you signed up the same day I did.
I smell money in the outcome of this poll. Romney has it and he has the Governors Association, by and large, and the powers and cash of the Bushies I’m afraid.
Absolutely. I know some of them...they didn't care whether Obama or Hillary won; as long as the GOP lost. Remember...BDS was blowing at hurricane force, and they wanted the White House, no matter what.
You’re on to something that should be obvious but many want to overlook it. Democrats’ influence was negligible at best.
Why not let the voters of a conservative state (like Oklahoma, Idaho, or Mississippi) pick our nominee instead.”__________________________________________________
POST OF THE DAY, if I may. And why, why, do we debate on the marxist cable and network channels. Republican conservatives are the flavor of the day and we need to debate on our terms, on our battlefield, FOX! Not CNN, with the marxist reporters and pundits harrassing us all night long. NO MORE.
