Sarah Palin is really sort of, you know, talking about thinking of running for president in 2012. In the way that people who might be real candidates do.
A New York Times magazine cover piece out this week quotes her as saying that she is having that discussion with my family. In an interview with Barbara Walters set to air on ABC in early December, she says shes looking at the lay of the land right now.
When Ms. Walters asks Gov. Palin if she could beat President Obama in 2012, she replies, I believe so.
Could she? You betcha. Anything can happen in US politics. Thats why they hold the elections. We have no idea what the nations political environment will be like in two years, and to predict flatly that a national figure can or cannot win is to engage in false punditry.
(Except for Donald Trump. We will go out on a limb here and say that Mr. Trump will not be applying his special flair for publicity to the policies of a Trump administration, ever, no matter what the new website www.shouldtrumprun.com says. Palin would beat him like a drum.)
Palin clearly could win the Republican nomination. That doesnt mean she will at this early stage, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney probably remains the GOP frontrunner. But 80 percent of Republicans have a favorable view of the former Alaska governor, according to a recent Gallup poll.
Now that the 2010 midterms are over, the big question swirling around Palin is whether she will run for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, writes Gallup analyst Lydia Saad. Given her high name recognition and broad popularity among Republicans ... she is clearly in a strong position to seek it.

At this point, even “Mongo” Biden could beat The One.
But she just hates Palin with a passion. To be honest, I think it's largely typical female cattiness
You need to beat your wife more often. S/off
Yes, women, not men, will be Palins’ achilles heel.
Its disgusting and sad, but women are catty and jealous and will not come out for her. Its awful.
Look at Connecticut for Gods’ sake! I really think women are totally nuts with their voting behaviors.
She does? Or does the Tina Fey caricature have a very low favorability among independents? They’re not one and the same and Sarah will have the ability to prove it.
No .
I would do every thing in my power to support her run for President of ‘MY’ United States of America!
She is the ONLY person who can save us!!
I think you missed my point. The public does not know Sarah Palin, they know only the caricature that has been portrayed of her in the media. Everyone, for example, “knows” that she said that she can see Russia from her house. Of course, she never uttered that sentence. She does have to fight against the media smears and really let them have it when they lie about her, then there’s no way she could lose.
but 2012....its really hard to dethrone a sitting messaih....it will be very hard to do unless things keep getting worse...
My favorites of course are Marco...Kasich...Col West...Scott Brown....Rudy...
but I would hate to waste a good candidate on 2012 if the cards are not there....
Sarah Palin is the guts of the Tea Party and the number one reason we've taken over the House and a lot of state houses....she's a hero for doing so when many men wouldn't lift a finger to change things...
but president?.....I am not sold...
We’re facing a potential embarassment of riches in 2012—there are several excellent prospects.
Reason? It's emotion. She believes she's trying to come off as cutesy, and at least part of the negative vibe is basaed on the fact that Palin is attractive. Whenever an outgoing, good looking woman enters a room, you can be sure that at least some of the women present are going to be shooting eye-daggers at her. Now, my wife is very attractive, but she's not immune to that. So like I said, it's basically cattiness. And I think she's far from the only female who has a problem with Palin based on something similar.
Like I said, I'm personally not a fan of Palin as a candidate, but it's a no-brainer that she is preferable to any conceivable Dem. I've explained that to my wife, and that's the only reason she'd abstain rather than vote for the Dem. And yup, I know all the counter arguments. They just don't work.
I understand, between you and me and everyone reading this, Im not completely sold on Sarah Palin for president after seeing her Alaska special. I think she comes off as a little too silly, her husband seems like the tough one but ....
It’s just like people who avoided Bob Dole because he was “too old” or whatever. I would have taken Bob Dole over Bill Clinton evry election. See my tagline. I will take a Palin administration over a democrat every time. It is the policies that matter. With liberal democrats you will have horrible policies.
Thanks for sharing. Tell your wife she better vote republican.
