Mitt Romney could face strong resistance in a potential White House bid from Tea Partiers troubled by the healthcare plan he implemented as governor of Massachusetts.
In an interview on CBNs The Brody File Show, Amy Kremer, director of grassroots and coalitions for the Tea Party Express, one of the most public Tea Party groups in the country, was asked if Romneys hand in the enactment of the Massachusetts healthcare plan would fly with the Tea Party movement.
I'm being honest here. You can't get away from that, Kremer told host David Brody. These people don't have short memories. They're digging up everything from the past, and they're not going to let go of the health care.
In 2006, then Governor Romney instituted a statewide healthcare plan in Massachusetts, mandating each resident buys healthcare coverage and provided subsidies for low income earners trying to obtain insurance.
Some conservatives are advising Romney admit the Massachusetts healthcare plan was a mistake. Earlier in the week, Texas Governor Rick Perry took to the airwaves, pointing out that the similarities between Romneys Massachusetts plan and President Obamas healthcare reform passed this March could serve as a stumbling block for Romney in a potential presidential campaign.
The fact is - they are so similar that it is going to be a major anchor unless he stands up and repudiates that approach, Perry told Fox News on Tuesday....

Why the hell doesn’t he just run as a democrat and get it over with?
How am I supposed to sleep while thinking about Romney running again?
I have a friend in Mass who has been out of work for sometime. He went down to sign up for Mass Health because he had to by law. He bought the $600 per month plan because that’s all he could afford. When he did his taxes the next year he ended up with a $600 fine because his plan didn’t meet the minimum required by Massachusetts law!
That pic says it all.
Romney shouldn’t even run. It would be a waste of his, and everyone else’s time. He couldn’t even begin to attack 0bama on that disastrous health care law. What’s he going to say? “I supported it, before I opposed it”? (must be a Massachusetts type thing)
If the conservative vote splits enough ways Romney could easily wind up with the nomination.
Romney should just forgo his dream on being a president. He should run against Barney Frank or one of the MA House, since I don’t think he can defeat Kerry.
And Sarah is coming to Dallas and Houston during her book signing tour in late November. Looks like Perry is taking the opportunity to support Sarah without mentioning her name.
$600/month?!! That’s absolute lunacy! When I left Canada in 07, my premium was $70/month as a single payer, mandatory with the province of BC, and everytime a dollar would be increased canadians would storm parliament hill. And they’re calling me crazy for working in mexifornia.
Willard's not going to live it down!
Why the hell doesnt he just run as a democrat and get it over with?
*****
Or spend a decade burnishing his Conservative credentials?
That is exactly right.
Run Romney, get Obama.
That is all.
Romney better make other plans for his future than being President. It will never happen. TEA Partiers and conservatives in the South aren’t interested in nominating a big-government advocate from MA.
Mitt Romney: "Make me your King, or Rove, Frum, Wallace, Parker
and my other saboteurs will bring your stinking GOP down.
Mitt Romney: "I'm not running as the Republican view or a continuation of Republican values.
That's not what brings me to the race.
(Romney Video, accessed 9/19/07)
"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party
over to the traitors in the battle just ended.
We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged
to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support.
Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates
wouldnt make any sense at all.""
-- President Ronald Reagan
Everyone Romney supported .... LOST.
Romney can still be president, of any company that he starts, just not PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
I don’t know how anyone who created the beta version of ObamaCare could even consider running as a Republican.
