Power Women Of Elections 2010 (Guess who is #1?)

The female candidates, commentators and influencers who matter--and provoke chatter--most.

The midterm elections are a week away, and this year an overwhelming number of female candidates, commentators and influencers are commanding the headlines, brashly driving the conversation and laboring to deliver who will control the Senate, the House and the future direction of the country.

The forces that put us in this position come in the form of various political baronesses and upstarts that make up this Top 25 Power Women of Elections 2010. A great many of these mighty women appear on Forbes' list of The World's 100 Most Powerful Women, including Tea Party queenmaker Sarah Palin, First Lady Michelle Obama and Rachel Maddow, a cable news anchor with a beef against "extremists" in politics.

Yet the polarizing are, in some ways, those who matter most. Or at least provoke chatter most. Consider Mama Grizzly Sharron Angle, clawing at Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's seat from Nevada and whose challenge to the incumbent is to "man up." Or contender for the U.S. Senate from Delaware, Christine O'Donnell, whose open ignorance or misreading of the First Amendment’s guarantee of separation of church and state--"You're telling me that's in the First Amendment?"--caused a 10-alarm fire on the airwaves and Internet.

Or Maureen Dowd, who coined the phrase "Mean Girls" of the midterms (talking about the Tea Party sorority), saying that they have replaced "Hope with Spite and Cool with Cold." Or the California governor's race, where Republican Meg Whitman was labeled a "whore" by her Democratic challenger's aide.

The Top 25 Most Powerful Women Of The Midterm Elections To rank this list of powerful women, we looked at both their reach--in terms of constituency and audience size--and buzz--Google searches...

Not all women are air-headed, commie dupes and shills. Some are actually intelligent and very conservative. Sarah Palin is among them, and when she is president, the vast left-wing conspirators will be shaking in their itty-bitty booties.

You won’t get a whole lot of sympathy on a Palin thread, but say what you want. It’s still a free country, and we mean to keep it that way.

So in your mind; we don’t need no uppity women thinking they have any say in our Republic?

Good luck with that.

And you might want to take your mind out of ancient anthropological aspects of history and get a little more up to date. Try the last couple of hundred years in America. If you don’t think women played a part in the founding, and subsequent expansion of this country; you haven’t been paying attention.

If that most mild of discourse can get one zotted, then the right might as well fold up the tents and cede another century to the left. I'll tell you that.

The cultural left won every single battle in the twentieth century. Every one! And now it's apparently taboo to even question how they did it let alone suggest strategies to combat it.

I would prefer a strong woman over a weak man any day.

Only the dullest of minds allow generalities appropos to nothing being discussed to shape the debate, much less declare such tripe as the final word on the topic it had no bearing on in the first place.

Palin is so far to the right of your drool-flecked verbal spasms that you think you're looking to the left. It's just that she's got your head spinning with a bad, possibly terminal, case of Palin Derangement Syndrome.

Don't take it too hard, that bug has bitten much better men than you; none of whom seem ever to find a cure.

Mild discourse gets a pass.

Simpering idiocy... Not so much.

Well, tv, for the last few thousand years we have seen what men have done to the world. How about letting the women have a chance. After all, this election cycle it looks like it's the women who have the cojones.

You are correct. Not only that, but word has it, there is a picture of a kiss. I haven’t seen the pic myself; I suspect JimRob’s keeping that one to himself. Can’t say as I blame him.

Oh, you won't get zotted. You're actually funny enough to keep around for a few good belly-laughs when, on rare occasion, things get dull around here. So you think Palin getting elected Governor of Alaska turned that previously slowly-boiling-progressive frog into a Liberal bastion for gay marriage lizards and welfare toads?

I love ideologues so committed to their psychoses of choice that they refuse to let a mountain of objective facts get in the way of their shrill hissy screeds. You're more of a chick than Sarah ever was.

Dear Lady: never ever feel the need to apologize for posting a pic of Sarah, regardless of the reason.

I didn’t actually mean to post the large version. But what the hey.
