We have to revisit Christine ODonnell. In a crop of oddball candidates, she is the clearly emerging as the star. She is Palin times 20. She is frightening, not just in her beliefs but in the scary fact that she could surprise us all and win. Democratic senate nominee Chris Coons is only leading by 11 points at the latest poll. And as we have seen recently, that lead can disappear in a heartbeat.
A big factor in Coons shrinking lead is that ODonnell is getting tons and tons of media attention. Granted, most is not good but you know what they say, any press is good press. The Republicans in general are very skilled at playing off the negative jabs. And her campaign is no exception. Oh well, she dabbled in Wiccan. But, she is a good Christian woman now. She is anti-masturbation. I guess that is a plus to Republicans. Maybe a little extreme but her heart is in the right place. Right? Women should not be in the military, condoms dont stop HIV, and scientists are creating mice with full functioning human brains. Her list of untruths goes on and on.
I am not sure how her campaign explains them all away. But the point is; they can. Her campaign and the Republican arm at Fox News can ignore or justify any ridiculous comment she makes. And the public, they may just start to buy it. She is young and cute so many voters may forgive her wacky comments. She can speak better English than Palin so that gets her somewhere.
In a year of strange wins, if ODonnell wins the Senate seat in Delaware, she will take the cake. The biggest upset of all. After the Witch comment was released last week, ODonnell cancelled her media appearances that were scheduled for the weekend. She claimed she wanted to focus on events in her home state. Then what did she do? Of course, show up on a national cable show. But, it is just Fox. And her mentor, the aforementioned Palin, told her to use Fox to get her message out. And ODonnell appears to be doing just that. She rakes in political donations, the majority not being in her home state. The right wing religious branch loves ODonnell.
But ODonnell has one major problem that doesnt seem to go away. And it is a problem that her campaign cannot explain away. She has been accused twice recently of violating campaign finance laws. Very serious stuff. Earlier this month, the Delaware Republican Party filed a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission alleging that ODonnell accepted illegal contributions from the Tea Party Express. On Monday, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington filed complaints with the FEC and the U.S. attorney in Delaware alleging that ODonnell had violated the law by using campaign contributions for personal use, paying for gas, bowling, even the rent on her house. That is even more serious. There is no gray area here. No one can use campaign contributions for personal residences. Ever.
ODonnell thus far has not really answered any questions about it, instead issuing a blanket statement, I am confident that we have been ethical, and further saying "I personally have not misused the campaign funds." But when reporters pressed further, she pulled a Sharron Angle and ran away. That doesnt look good. Her former campaign manager alleges that ODonnell lived off of campaign funds as well. Oopsy. I have no doubt that she will get out of this. Didnt Palin have some pesky investigation following her around during her vice presidential bid? For candidates like Palin and ODonnell, these things tend to roll right off their back.
So, we shall see what happens in November to Ms. ODonnell. I wonder if she will make self love illegal. Or ban Halloween. Perhaps she will be able to investigate further and find out where those mice/human hybrids are kept. What is actually on her agenda? Oh boy, if she wins the election, then intelligence has lost. We have all lost.
Don’t forget Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Cynthia McKinney, Blago, heck, I could go on for hours...
uh......YES!!!!!!
And I'll bet both of them can speak circles around the author of this article.
So true. This article was just juvenile. I hope O’Donnell can win, but I when I think about a state that elected the ‘second in line’ to the presidency (lol) all those years...
What part of this is flip flopping?
Anybody else notice how many negative posts come from 2nd? Especially on female candidates...
I’ve never noticed that?....he’s one or our best posters IMO
The author blogs at a site I’ve never heard of before: Sarah Palin has been a governor, major party nominee for VP, energy commission chairwoman, mayor and city councilwoman. She is currently a NYT best-selling author, Fox News contributor, $75K a speech speaker and potential president of the United States. Not much of a comparison, is it?
I predict this guy is going to need a case of Depends on the evening of November 2nd!
I agree, somewhat, that she should be taken to task and investigated if she used campaign contributions for ‘personal residences’, but let’s let her stand in line behind hundreds of Democrats who’ve done the same thing.
I think then , that going through all those Dems, they’ll inally get around to investigating this minor offense of hers, around the year 2027.
ROTFLMAO ... [snort, wheeze] ... Hahahahaha!
ROTFLOL.
Do you think he's under a spell?

Aw,hell, 2DVet, the only reason I was so polite in my last reply was because I thought this was posted, VERY uncharacteristically, by YOU!
I didn’t see the source until later.
For a moment I was very disappointed.
I’m okay now.
>>> Can Christine ODonnell actually Win?
The article is obnoxiously snide about it, but the underlying thesis isn’t wrong. She leans to the bizarre side. This would be a problem in any state but moreso here.
Chris Matthews says she will win, but Matthews is also a loon. The truth is it would be fun if she did win just for deflating the Delaware blue expectation, but there remains little reason to think this will happen. Yuppie smug self-satisfied Delaware isn’t pioneer Alaska.
It’s Delaware. A state that again and again elects Joe Biden a senator obviously isn’t overly concerned with the mental health of its federal legislators.
She can, and just might win!
maybe she can win.......I pray and I hope.....wouldn’t that be a night to celebrate?
