Meghan McCain Says She's on 'Team Romney' for 2012

Meghan McCain, the chatty daughter of 2008 Republican presidential nominee John McCain, says she joining up with "team Romney" for the 2012 campaign for the White House. At least, that's her leaning at this early stage.

McCain, 25, told NBC "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno she "is so sick and tired of this us-versus-them mentality" in politics. "I just want a candidate that's going to stop being so versus them. So right now I am team Romney."

In 2008, Mitt Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, was a rival who clearly got under the skin of Sen. McCain in the early stages of the Republican campaign when both competed for the nomination. Once McCain emerged as presumed GOP nominee, Romney got on board and received some consideration as a vice presidential running mate.

That honor went to then-Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. When Meghan McCain learned of the pick, she told Leno she panicked and cried on the way to the announcement, according to a CNN report. "I remember being on stage and distinctly thinking, 'God, let her not have any skeletons in the closet.' "

Meghan McCain was on the late-night show to promote her book, "Dirty Sexy Politics," a tome in which she describes Palin as a "time bomb."

Romney is raising money and has made no secret of his intention to run for president again in 2012. Of course, many pundits think Palin is on the same track.

I'd describe Meghan McCain as a "loose cannon".

Or a Loose Moose...

Romney on the other hand, talked about nothing but economic issues. I wasn’t too keen on him in the first place, but he really impressed me with his business mind and if he stuck strictly to economic issues (and shrinking government), he’d be a good candidate.

Any half-literate idiot can read a speech parroting whatever their speech writers wrote.

Romney's actual record, the one he'll be forced to run on, is abysmal. As long as he continues to defend Romney-care as a success, any opinion he might have regarding economic issues is suspect at best.

Romney can't stick with concepts like shrinking government, because he has never embraced them to begin with.

“mayonnaise sandwich on white bread”

When my brother and I were little, we’d make cracker sandwiches: two pieces of white bread, mayo, and saltine crackers for the filling.

Leave it to a bleach blond ditzoid bimbo to jump onto a rapidly sinking ship as though it will accomplish anything other than solidifying her public image as that of an imbecile.

Go for it, Meg baby. When you ain't got nuthin', you got nuthin' to lose.

And how lame is Leno? What, he can't get actual celebrities to go on his show any more? Is the RNC (in unison with the Obooga Administration) now scheduling his chair-filler? The lost following the lost in an ever-tightening circle that ends with all their heads jammed up each others' asses.

Too pathetic. Comfortingly so.

He is not conservative at all and neither is Megan. Neither is her Lame daddy, except when he is running for office.

If they push Romney through...it’s going to get ugly. They had best run as fast as they can from Romneycare. He is a socialist.

This is just the first salvo and prepping of the Establishment campaign for Mittens.

You will see a coordinated slate of announcements after he announces.

While I agree with your post in substance, I also believe that there are universal issues that will be the same today as in 2 years. Low taxes, shrinking government, pro-choice healthcare (i.e. no government healthcare), personal responsibility, America-first world security, etc. are all issues that Palin should be talking about.

As was, all she talked about was “being good Americans” without defining what a good American is. Liberals think they’re good Americans while know-towing to murderous Muslims and sucking innocent babies out of wombs with flowbees. It seemed to come off as unprincipled in the interest of safety.

I’m looking for a candidate who takes no-apologies stances on issues, even if those stances create negative press. We don’t need a movie star, we need a leader.

Yes. I think that it is perfectly in line with the Founding Father’s vision of America that subjects be coerced into buying government-approved products, especially imperatives such as healthcare.

Romney did healthcare in MA. It was wrong (and not just because it was a failure). If he stands by Obama’s healthcare, then he’s just as unfit for office as Obama. But, if he came out and said he’d repeal it, I’d believe him.

If we’re going on one-issue failures, Palin’s a quitter and she’s a bad parent. I know lots of conservative and liberal parents who never had pregnant high-school students. If she can’t run her home, how can she run a country?

“But, if he came out and said he’d repeal it, I’d believe him.”

Which version of his stand on abortion do you believe. Solid pro-choice or Solid pro-life. I’ve seen the videos of the debates where he has stated Solid pro-choice when he was running in Mass for governor and Solid pro-life when he was running from president....

But you would believe him when he talks about his position on health care?
