Yeah, you read that right. May Sarah Palin get the 2012 GOP nomination. Putting her on the top of the ticket would be the best thing that could happen to the GOP, and here's why:
Unless Barack Obama totally blows the next two years, she would get waxed in a general election. Then she would be out of the way and the GOP can go about building a strong, broad coalition, the kind that can lead to a governing coalition.
I've more or less said that before about Palin, but reading her undermining of GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski's reelection bid in Alaska made me want to say it again. According to this New York Times story , Palin didn't like not Murkowski's father, who was Alaska's governor, appointing his daughter to the Senate seat he previously held. Not because Lisa Murkowski was particularly bad, but because Gov. Murkowski didn't appoint Sarah Palin, then an Alaskan mayor.
Now, I'm not an expert on Alaska's internal politics, so I don't if this story is 100 percent gospel. But it certainly tracks everything else we know about Palin. Namely, that she is good at division and appears largely in this for herself.
Before commenters go off calling me a typical Democrat, let me remind you that I voted for John McCain for president in 2008. And that meant, I voted for John McCain and Sarah Palin.
I confess she made it hard to pull the lever, but I did because I liked his more liberal Republicanism. And I thought he would be a debt-fighter.
But after watching her for the last two years, it seems pretty clear_that she's not in the big-tent category of Republicans. What's more, she is the sort of loose cannon that could really damage the party.

Everyone who’s ever made a prediction about the demise of Sarah Palin has been proven wrong. I think she’ll keep surprising them.
So you are voting for Obama in 2012?
Unless Barack Obama totally blows the next two years...
Given what a clusterbleep the first two years have been, where do you even start to argue with somebody who writes that line?
Very excellent & clever comparison.
It might even give the anti-Palin Reaganauts food for thought. Wondering if RR had been added to a National ticket as VP - would he have survived the beating that Sarah is enduring.
I’m wondering if he’s not a pretender or at least pretty young. Trying too hard or doesn’t know any better, take your pick.

What a load of crap.
What amazing is that the pundits and such think they have seem everything Sarah has to offer on the campaign trail.
Sarah has only show about 1/10th her true potential on the campaign trail. We have no one on our side who is a master at retail politics Sarah is and thats what separates her from the rest. After about two months on the campaign trail the false image created by the DC elites and media will be smashed and the REAL SARAH will emerge and steamroll any thing in her path with our help.
What do fantasies have to do with the discussion at hand? Condi, as wonderful as she is, is pro choice. That’s pretty impossible odds to overcome in a republican primary.

For someone who was once said to be dumber than a box of rocks, the media sure seems petrified of Sarah Palin.
Many said the same thing about Ronald Reagan also.
I would pull the lever for the Tina Fey look-a-like any day over Romney in the primaries or Obama in the general elections.
Dunno. I have not received a reply to my specific question. Perhaps you’ll have better luck.
Condie Rice is a RINO.
Obama has blown the first 2 years..I have no reason to think the Marxist Kenyan is going to change. If his poll numbers keep going down...Obama won’t make it past a Primary...
onyx you need to put me on your ping-list...I am missing some of this good stuff! ;)
Sarah is far preferable to any of the various RINO parade, but she isn’t the best fit as a Presidential Candidate to strike on Obama’s most serious vulnerabilities.
Our best choice would be a candidate who: (a) is a financial expert who has in an executive capacity effectively instituted pro-growth policies while lowering taxes and spending; and (b) in contrast to Obama’s completely evident lack of experience, has an established record of reliable success.
Off the top of my head, Barbour, Daniels, Barbour all better fit that message than Sarah. She wasn’t governor long enough to really hammer Obama on the link between his lack of experience and his incompetence, and although she fundamentally understands the conservative economic message, I don’t think she’s the best choice to contrast why the Keynesian model fails and why a von Mises model would succeed.
If the choice is Sarah versus Huckster and Flip-floppin’ Mitt and the usual suspects, I’m going for Sarah. But I think there are better options than that whole group.
Could be they will hold out to see if Palin is ‘officially’ running and bring in Hitlary.....now that would be an interesting race. Ha!
But a choice of Palin vs Obama.....well only the blind, and ignorant, and stupid, would let Bo take the Pres. again.
Ya know sometimes I think both Rep.’s and Demo’s might bait and switch us all....stranger things have happened in this whole political environment.
I’ll do that right now.
WELCOME!!!!
