Vanity Fair publishes 18-page attack on Sarah Palin [Flak heaviest over target area]
The Christian Science Monitor ^ | September 1, 2010 | Dave Cook

If you are trying to sell books or magazines or get clicks for your website, Republican Party star Sarah Palin is the gift that keeps giving.

This week, two new offerings provide glimpses of the former Alaska governor who generally avoids one-on-one interviews with the national political press. Vanity Fair has just released a lengthy, critical article from its forthcoming October issue titled, “Sarah Palin the Sound and the Fury."

The exhaustive article appears the same week as Meghan McCain is promoting her new book, “Dirty Sexy Politics.” The first-time author offers an outspoken daughter’s view of her father’s unsuccessful 2008 presidential campaign.

Of the two documents, Ms. McCain’s is the kinder to Ms. Palin, who emerged on the national scene after Sen. John McCain named her his vice presidential running mate. Palin is now a high profile commentator for Fox News and makes scores of highly paid speeches nationwide.

Speaking to George Stephanopoulos on Tuesday’s “Good Morning America,” Ms. McCain said, "I'm speaking out now because I do have conflicting feelings about her.” Ms. McCain, who blogged and Tweeted during the campaign, told "Good Morning America" that Palin “brought so much momentum and enthusiasm to the campaign. You saw the crowds double and you saw a lot more women coming to the rallies."

But as Mr. Stephanpoulos noted, “You also wrote that she brought 'drama, stress, complications, panic, and loads of uncertainty.' ”

The Vanity Fair article by Michael Joseph Gross is largely accusatory in tone and, when printed out, covers 18 double spaced pages.

“Even as Sarah Palin’s public voice grows louder, she has become increasingly secretive, walling herself off from old friends and associates, and attempting to enforce silence from those around her,” the article begins....

They really do always tell us who they fear the most.

Saw this tagline last night on FR,

“Wonder Woman wears Sarah Palin pajamas”

In politics, as in entertainment, the only ‘bad’ publicity is ‘no’ publicity.

Sounds like one of the attributes in those Dos Equis ads...

“The most interesting woman in the world”

I’ll have to think of a few new attributes. How about “the bear on her sofa skinned himself just to be near her.”

Isn’t it hysterical that they would waste their issue befre the election on someone who isn’t even running for anything? LOL That is just too funny.I’m beginning to think that everytime they attack her another conservative is born!

So, this Vanity Fair article is gossip and not an interview? Sounds like that’s the case. They’ve become TMZ in print.

Can’t wait for Meghan’s book to die on the shelves. Conservatives buy books, Meghan. And you ain’t no conservative. Good luck getting interviewed on the talk radio shows that shoot a book to No. 1.

And I swear, Hannity, if you have this little witch on.....

The Vanity Fair article sounds like the usual hit-piece on Sarah Palin.

From her politics (the only important issue) to her private life, including the Christianity that she takes seriously, which confounds the atheist, Christian-hating media, to her appearance, the hits keep right on coming. The goal of course is to characterize Sarah Palin in a negative way and thus, diminish her acceptance and popularity with Americans. So far, all it seems to do is keep her in the public eye and increase her popularity. However, the leftmedia won't stop because smear and ridicule is all they have in their quiver these days. Leftist policies are clearly failing, big-time and folks like Sarah Palin aren't afraid to say so, which gets people's (positive) attention while riling the left.

That Sarah Palin has erected some 'walls' (an 'inner circle') to protect her from the constant media attacks (and a snooping new next-door neighbor seeking to write yet another hit-piece book about Palin) is simply self-defense of a sort and perfectly understandable. Most public figures, including athletes and entertainers as well as most politicians do the same.

The left is obsessed with Sarah Palin because she threatens them and they don't understand her in the least, because she isn't 'one of them'. She's one of us.

Sounds like VANITY FAIR didn't even take the time to interview Governor Palin, but if you print out the article it's allegedly an 18 page critical diatribe.

VAIN-ITY FAIR = drivel.

What other person gets as much mileage out of Facebook and Twitter as Sarah Palin? She has learned her lessons well about the lies and deceit of the MSM. They need her, she doesn't need them. Go, Sarah!

Well Meagan got that part right. That's why Palin's opponents fear her so much.

Isn’t it hysterical that they would waste their issue befre the election on someone who isn’t even running for anything?

Well, the DNC is currently running against George Bush, and he can't even legally run for President.

In the past two years, I have found that the AMAZING, IMPOSSIBLE,UNBELIEVABLE,HYSTERICAL has become rather COMMONPLACE.

If you look up and research the author of this hit piece (Michael Joseph Gross), it will become readily apparent why he was chosen by Vanity Fair for the task: the word "elitist" might have been coined to describe him.

He is a fabulously wealthy, private-schooled, Manhattan-based writer with an haute couture fashion designer wife (in spite of an apparent interest in gay issues and an appearance that, I apologize - virtually shouts something other than "heterosexual"), and who has long plied his trade for the "prestige" left-wing media.

He is, to a person like Sarah Palin, as crème brulée is to bourbon whiskey. She curdled his sensibilities.
