From Voice of America: In Louisiana and other states on the Gulf of Mexico there is frustration over what many residents see as a slow response by the U.S. government to protecting coastal areas. Some critics of the Obama administration cite offers by the Netherlands in April to supply sophisticated skimmers and dredging devices, and the administrations failure to accept the offer. The issue is as murky as the oil slick now threatening regional beaches.
A Houston-based company is now cleaning oil off surface water in the Gulf of Mexico using sweeping arms that attach to a boat and help gather large amounts of oil. These sophisticated devices were provided by a Dutch company with years of experience in such operations, but instead of using the Dutch ships and crews immediately, when The Netherlands offered help in April, the operation was delayed until U.S. crews could be trained.
The Royal Dutch Shell has oil rigs in the North Sea.
And 20% of the land in the Netherlands is below sea level, protected by dikes. Unless you live in New Orleans, you try to make sure your dikes are maintained.
In a Fox News interview, Sarah Palin alluded to this turn down of the Dutch offer.
From Tod Robberson of the Dallas Morning News: Bill OReilly asks her how she would stop the leak. After a bit of hesitation, she blurts out: The Dutch and the Norwegian. They are known for dikes and for cleaning up water and for dealing with spills. Hmmm, I do seem to remember that childhood story.
Once again, a critic of Palin does not realize the joke is on him.
Dana Milbank of the Washington Post fell into the same well of ignorance.
We went through this drill with Reagan.
Grow up.
I think you speak out of both sides of your mouth.
bravo
well done
a civil disagreement
perhaps one of us will change our opinion of her as time goes on
well done
a civil disagreement
Thanks. I am civility personified. Modesty, not so much.
perhaps one of us will change our opinion of her as time goes on
Perhaps. Adieu!
Hey, I don't even know who John Galt is, and now you spring some other guy on me. Who is Rabadash?
I'm not sure what tazergate is and don't recall ever saying she would abuse anything. I share her values. My only criticism is that she needs more experience before giving her the most difficult job in the world.
Are you confusing me with someone else, or was I drunken posting again? :)
So then I should demand the resume of every doctor, nurse, teacher, etc. to see if they fit your timeframe of success? Ok, got it. Thanks.
You don't really have to. I have to have my degree and have passed my boards and maintain my continuing education credits. I also have to have a state criminal background check, A federal FBI fingerprinting check, and a child abuse check that requires every address I have lived in and every person I have lived with since 1975. I have to have a two-step TB test, a recent tetinus shot, hep-b vaccine, MMR, drug screen, current cpr certification and references. You can also check my license status on-line to see if I have any confirmed instances of abuse, neglect, or criminal activity.
Doctors are very similar in their requirements.
Government is very good at regulating thins except politicians.
But that is no indication of how good a nurse you are. There are some pretty dumb nurses out there, as well as teachers. Touting a government check isn’t saying much. The government can’t even keep track of who’s here legally/illegally.
Some of the dumbest on earth, but you can check them out. We can't even tell you a patient's name without possibly losing our licenses.
What was Palin's GPA in highschool or college?
Why won't she say?
As I said before, all the book learning in the world doesn't mean a damn thing if you don't have common sense and practical experience.
And I pose the same argument to you as before: how many here on FR would rather have a nurse who has spent all her time getting an advanced degree and no practical (clinical, etc.) experience, or a nurse who has years of experience treating patients?
Almost ALL employers ask for GPA's for new grads, and transcrpts. My boss won't hire a new grad that has EVER had a "D".
People are always saying that we don't know anything about 0bozo. True. Has Palin released her medical records, GPA, or released a copy of her birth cirtificate? Has she used pot or cocaine? Does she believe in sex before marriage?
I have been in the workforce since I was 18, corporate world since 25 and not once was I ever asked for my GPA or transcripts. And they were pretty good.
That post was more of the same. You have nothing. Palin has had 100 times more investigation done on her than on Obama. She has NO skeletons. She was cleared on EVERY one of those ethics charges.
RIDICULOUS, filed-to-bankrupt-her ethics charges.
Tell Mitt “HI”.
Thank you. I am just here to reassure everyone that Sarah Palin is running. Remember you heard it here, first.
Well. Bryan24, you and I must agree to disagree on Mrs Palin. Sorry, it’s just that way.
(MaggieCarta, although hampered by an extreme power outage, finds her way to an unattended (and working) computer. Suddenly, out of nowhere, the rightful owner appears. Boy, is he cheesed. A fierce scuffle ensues. MC's muffled cry sounded like: "Mffpf...Let go! Let me go, I said!")
Must...not...post...on...Palin...Threads....
Yes, I am ignoring you.
You call yourself a hospice nurse, what gives you the knowledge to diagnosis a delusional...Thats not your area of expertise...
A 4 year degree nurse is always the most ignorant when she finally hits the hospitals..I had one actually admit, we all know how to write great papers, but please remove the NG tube as I have never done it. It was part of her job description and I knew that but made sure she asked while I stood at bedside and handed her back the note she handed to me....I removed the NG tube she was terrified of...Length of education does not make one the best of anything, only the one with most years in school..
There use to be a 3 year diploma nurse and she always head and shoulders above the 4 year degree nurse....In fact a 2 year associate degree nurse was better prepared for hospital work that a nurse that took oddles of classes that have nothing to do with nursing...
Since all 3, associate degree, 3 year diploma and 4 year degree nurse all took the same boards, those with the higher degree do not necessilary make the best nurses...
But the politic's of nursing fazed out practical nurses and demanded 4 year degrees so as to upgrade the pay scale....had 2 teachers in my nursing courses say that.
Get off your high horse, your not better than anyone else..
:-)
