When will Romney endorse someone in California’s Senate race?

Normally I wouldn’t ask, but since Huck and Sarahcuda have both anted up — he for DeVore, she for Fiorina — I think it’s about time everyone shows their cards, no? This has been a constant source of irritation with Romney, exercising prudence to a fault in not endorsing Doug Hoffman or Marco Rubio until it became politically “safe” to do so. Grassroots conservatives want to see some nerve; a principled candidate who’s out for more than his own political self-interest should find someone to like between Campbell, Fiorina, and DeVore.

Assuming that Romney’s only out for his self-interest, though, which candidate should he endorse? DeVore would give him “true conservative” cred that he needs but DeVore’s a likely loser at this point. Why alienate Campbell and Fiorina when they’re more likely to be in a position to help him in the Cali presidential primary? Campbell’s the front-runner at the moment, but he also has an “Israel problem” and Romney doesn’t need any headaches on that front. As for Fiorina, a reciprocal endorsement from her isn’t guaranteed if Palin also runs in 2012. If he wants to lock someone up, Campbell’s the obvious pick.

I think DeVore’s the smart choice since it’ll buy Mitt some grassroots cred vis-a-vis Sarahcuda, which he’ll desperately need if 2012 turns into a race between the two of them. Granted, if Fiorina wins the race she’ll be in a position to help Palin, but who cares? A Republican senator’s endorsement won’t be determinative in California, and by backing DeVore, Romney neutralizes Huckabee’s gesture to the base. An easy call here, right?

The nerve of Sybil to endorse Gnarly was appalling.

You do think you're cute with your petty name calling, don't you?

What are you.....8 years old?

I believe that all of Romney’s energy and interest and strategic planning is in Meg Whitman becoming Governor, that is why he moved here, to captain that, and to capitalize on that.

Well, I’d use ‘flipper’, but that’s already gone to her political twin.

I guess those kinds of mix-ups can happen when one isn’t up on all the latest out of state info, eh?

Whitman has p*ssed off most of the Republicans all up and down the state, from what I hear.

She was down right rude to several Women's Republican groups in Feb. She was worse at the Convention up north.

I'm really hoping she's her own worst enemy with all her t.v. ads and the general public sees it!

I haven’t looked. I am watching Betty White on SNL.

I’ll be surprised to see any of our San Diego, or CA GOP Congressmen endorse. It’s usually enough of a challenge to keep your own constituents happy without chancing an endorsement that will likely annoy some, anger some and please the rest. Then, what happens to that congressman/woman when the endorsed loses and his or her challenger becomes the US Senator? LOL.

I think that’s why they only “touted and talked” last night at the Republican dinner your attended and stopped short of formally endorsing.

-"Romney endorsing Fiorina will only confirm she and Palin aren’t Conservatives.

So, whatever Mitt does is gospel. The 'follower' becomes the 'leader'?

Oh, so we’re back to Hunter Jr. and Popaditch endorsing Gnarly now? Good grief, maybe Sybil fits you better than even Palin.

Yeah, I imagine Slick Willy, her Thighness, the Forehead, McQueeg, Charlie Loafers, and Arlen Sphincter would agree.

ROFL....she will not only endorse but campaign for her. there is a new power structure forming in the GOP. anyone can See It if they look. McCain tried to form it after his election. He failed. He had to call Palin to come save him. Mitt/bush wing are trying to hold onto power but the Palin wing is now becoming a force. with the Obey resignation, the Elmer win in Minn, Rand Paul surging in KY, burns in PA12, if Carly wins in Ca Palin will be the new head of the GOP in exile. There will be no mistake. Mitt will not be the front runner if carly wins. There is a reason why the Mitt/Paul wings have attacked Palin’s endorsement they must stop her.

She is racking up victories left and right and they are running scared... A Carly win in Ca will have EVERY GOP hopeful knocking down Palin's door for her endorsement esp in light of Bennett's loss in UT.

Fiorina (for some reason you use her first name, but the others last name) simply will never endorse Palin for president. She might endorse Romney, McCain, Giuliani etc., but she will never bring herself to endorse someone like Palin. I’m sure Palin knows that Fiorina will endorse Romney over her. It’s not going to make a difference.

Poizner is better than Whitman, IMO.

You are being lied to about Poizner. He ran in my State Assembly district in 2004. He is a Gore and Kerry supporter, who gave money to the Gore recount fund. During the 2004 event he had an anti-Bush event with Richard Clarke for his campaign. He was 100% pro-life, and 100% anti-gun and proud of it. He ran ads about how he was a “liberal,” which forced the his Democrat opponent to run ads about how he “was the real liberal.” He refused to allow his campaign materials in the GOP office in town. He sent out mailers to all the independent and Democrat voters attacking Republicans. He touted how he would do more to stop global warming than anyone else, but Republicans just wanted to plunder the environment. [I’m not saying anyone should vote for Whitman, but you must be a self-hater if you vote for Poizner. He will be the most leftwing governor in CA history)

I don’t really want either, but I’m not going to vote for a p**ck that hates me, and stands for everything I’m against. Are you?

I'm not crazy about Poizner but between Whitman, Poizner, and Jerry Brown what is your pick? Whitman is worse than Poizner and has the arrogance of Obama. She demonstrated that she can't speak without a teleprompter and NO questions. She also distances herself from her constiuents, presenting that arrogant attitude.

Ladies I spoke to during the Searchlight rally felt snubbed by her when they went to hear her speak and to find out her views. She didn't give them the time of day and refused any questions. She didn't fare any better at the NorCal convention.
