AM Alert: Dead heat for DeVore, Fiorina

Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer holds a strong edge over possible Republican challengers seeking to unseat her in the 2010 election, according to a new Field Poll of registered voters.

The poll, conducted via telephone between Sept. 18 and Oct. 6, showed Boxer holding a double-digit lead over two GOP hopefuls, declared candidate Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, R-Irvine, and former Hewlett Packard executive Carly Fiorina, who has not declared her candidacy but has formed an exploratory committee.

Boxer beat Fiorina 49 percent to 35 percent, and DeVore 50 percent to 33 percent.

The poll indicated that much of Boxer's lead could stem from low name recognition for both Fiorina and DeVore.

While 87 percent of those surveyed held an opinion about the Democratic senator (48 percent favorable, 39 percent unfavorable), 72 percent of voters have no opinion of Fiorina and 82 percent have no opinion of DeVore.

With eight months until the GOP primary election, the poll results put DeVore and Fiorina in a dead heat. DeVore, who trailed Fiorina by 12 points in a March Field Poll, came in with 20 percent support among Republican primary voters in the latest poll, just one point behind Fiorina's 21 percent.

California is lost to conservatives. If Marxists like Boxer can still get easily re-elected given the difficult economic times and economic destruction caused by rat policies, there is no hope.

Every year the Field poll comes out and declares everything near and dear to leftists is popular and everyone here at FR believes it. The FIELD POLL IS A LEFT LEANING POLL. They over-sample counties like San Francisco. The Field Poll is treasured by the media and completely useless other than for Democrat parties.

Fiorina is busy fighting cancer. When she gets going, this will tighten up nicely.

From one year ago, just a week before the November Election:

Field Poll Released Today Still Shows Prop 8 to Eliminate Same Sex Marriage Rights in California Behind 44% to 49%

Proposition 8 won just a few days later, 52.3 to 47.7.

It's the same story year after year and the press eats up their flawed data as do many Freepers.

Yep -

The reality is there has been NO campaigning in CA yet for this race. None - Zip - Nada!

So a poll telling us the Dem is going to win by double-digit numbers shows Nothing - Zip - Nada ;-)

I honestly don’t know if Carly or the other guy can beat her. I do know that they haven’t declared yet, and that there has been no effort to bring their names to prominence. In my mind, this poll is just a self-serving attempt to defeat the Repubs before they’ve even entered the game.

If the SacBee says it, you should always believe the opposite!

Boxer barely makes it to 50% running against two relatively unknowns......not good for Boxer.

Boxer is at 49 and 50% that indicates some vulnerability. If things go further against the donk’s this could be a pick up. A lot depends on how fast the Dem’s can run Clifornia into the ground beween now and then and if Obama actually tries “immigration reform”. sorry I see oppurtunity but I don't think a good cnservative like Devore can win.

Larry Elder would have been cleaning up against Boxer. Thanks for locking him out GOP.

I don’t even know why Fiorina is even bothering. It’s virtually impossible for Boxer to lose. CA is a totally lost cause.

The Field Poll tends to overestimate Democrats.
