Mitt Romney, the GOP's Bridge to Oblivion
Gregg Jackson ^ | July 20, 2009 | Gregg Jackson & John Haskins

Almost no one in politics or the media will admit it in public, but the GOP lost the Presidency in 2008 by alienating the moral conservative base that the elites loathe. Many stayed home or voted third party, rejecting a nominee who was in fundamental aspects a liberal Democrat.

That is why Barry Sotero — a radical socialist with Islamic roots posing as a Christian, groomed for years by Marxist revolutionaries, who hides essential documents of his birth, education and career, who campaigned with illegal funding from overseas interests, who as far as 300 million Americans can honestly tell, was born in a foreign country and (under the plain language of the Supreme Law of the United States, the Constitution) cannot legally be our President, who lacks even the executive experience of a night manager at a self-serve gas station — nevertheless sleeps in the White House. That’s why. Do the homework. Look at the demographics.

I've been reading your posts here for a long time, and I don't recall ever seeing you correctly predict or call what the electorate would do. You follow "conventional wisdom" in politics, and it is an oxymoron. You claim to know "what's what when discussing the electorate" -- but don't have much of a track record. I, on the other hand, do have a bit of track under my feet. For example, I predicted that Hillary was FAR from a shoo-in for the Dem nomination when most everyone in the political world, it and outside of FR, still thought Hillary had it locked; and I predicted that whether Hillary or Obama won, their popularity would drop like a stone early in their first term. Where were you, Darkwolf? How good was your grasp on the electorate?

If Hillary switched parties to Republican and it looked like she could win, I think you'd lecture me for refusing to vote for her. You think that all it takes to "win" is for the Republican -- no matter what kind of Republican -- to get in office. I used to think the same way.

I've learned; you haven't.

Coulter and Ingraham solidly behind the grand lady of Alaska and our next President, Sarah Palin.

I’m sorry we disagree, because this is the worst problem we face as a party in weeding out the RINO/Socialist menace. At least the False Messiah has the common courtesy to declare himself an open Democrat. Democrat Trojan Horse Republicans inflict far worse damage on both the party, and on the country. One reason why Slick Willard is so very dangerous. We can at least fight against the regime in power as long as they stick to the Democrat label, we can’t when our guys implement it.

Take a look at every state where Socialist Trojan Horse Democrat RINOs hold or have held the Governorships recently. They weaken/cripple or kill the GOP and make them Democrat states, shutting us out of competition, in some cases permanently so. Until 2009, MA hadn’t last elected a Democrat Governor since 1986 with Dukakis. MA didn’t become a 100% federal Democrat state, 100% statewide Democrat state, and 90%+ Democrat legislature state because of openly-serving Democrat Governors, but with 16 years of incompetent liberal RINOs, aiding the cause of Socialism, stomping out the Conservative grassroots, and pretty much doing the bidding of the Democrat party. If they had had 16 years of Conservative GOP Governors, the state would be a very different place.

[ if he becomes the nominee, the mountains will crumble and the waters will turn to blood. ]

Unfortunately, that sums it up. I stay home (along with many others) if Romney is the nominee.

..One more thing. I think it's paramount that we work early to boot lemons like Romney out of the picture before they can drain the resources of truly conservative, limited government candidates...

I agree with this COMPLETELY!... and we better start letting the elite know early before they start getting ideas.

Mitt does not satisfy Social-conservatives either... because of his person. HIS CHARACTER is flawed, like a rotten apple you do not want to eat. I see things in very simple terms :)

Sarah on the other hand is a good apple... That does not mean SHE MUST BE OUR ONLY choice...It just means that by the manner she has conducted her life, the choices she has made, the politician she has been...we see a person of quality there... and for us social-conservatives that is a good beginning.

You know absolutely nothing about me. You're either a liar or just typing because you're in the mood to rant late at night. Either way, I have no use for you--someone who espouses so much conventional wisdom as you do who then slaps others with that label is not someone who has anything to offer.

Where were you, Darkwolf? How good was your grasp on the electorate?

YOu begin your post by saying you've been reading my posts for a long time and don't recall ever seeing me correctly predict or call what the electorate would do, and you just admitted you have no idea what I had to say about Hillary, Obama or the election.

You think that all it takes to "win" is for the Republican -- no matter what kind of Republican -- to get in office.

Again--you are either a liar or just a fool, because this is another example that shows you haven't a clue as to what I believe--you just want to spout from behind your computer, not actually engage.

Enjoy talking to yourself, because you're not impressing anyone else.

[What a bizarre article! No decent human being can stomach it. Mitt Romney and his wonderful family do not deserve to be harassed in this manner.

Romney needs to start a truth squad of his own to defend himself and his family against this filth and trash.]

Saundra, why don’t you go back to defending Warren Jeffs and quit pretending you are anything but a Mormon on a mission to elect Romney as God on earth.

Here we go again. I'll just roll out the only two answers needed when dealing with that mentality:

That's the attitude that got us Obama.

OR...

Those who stayed home had no effect on the outcome, so who cares what they did/do?

[Without going along with some liberal policies, he’d never have been elected anything in Mass. All Romney haters and their articles can’t change that fact,]

And you can’t change the fact that Romney just gave Romneycare an ‘A’, the same crap as Obamacare.

Mitt’s a cute, sorta socially conservative cheerleader with great hair. That’s the core of his appeal.

I hate to say it, but if you're sick of the Romney bashing, perhaps you should consider joining another forum. Jim Robinson has made it VERY clear that FreeRepublic will never endorse or support that RINO. Never.

I agree with Jim.

Er, I supported both Sanford and Palin, which I made quite clear. Sanford could be banging hookers a dozen at a time and doing blow off their naked bodies, and he’d still make a better, more successful Conservative leader than Slick Willard ever would or could. :-)
