Mitt Romney, the GOP's Bridge to Oblivion
Gregg Jackson ^ | July 20, 2009 | Gregg Jackson & John Haskins

Almost no one in politics or the media will admit it in public, but the GOP lost the Presidency in 2008 by alienating the moral conservative base that the elites loathe. Many stayed home or voted third party, rejecting a nominee who was in fundamental aspects a liberal Democrat.

That is why Barry Sotero — a radical socialist with Islamic roots posing as a Christian, groomed for years by Marxist revolutionaries, who hides essential documents of his birth, education and career, who campaigned with illegal funding from overseas interests, who as far as 300 million Americans can honestly tell, was born in a foreign country and (under the plain language of the Supreme Law of the United States, the Constitution) cannot legally be our President, who lacks even the executive experience of a night manager at a self-serve gas station — nevertheless sleeps in the White House. That’s why. Do the homework. Look at the demographics.

I do have a question then.

I like Ann, she is usually right on a number of issues.

HOWEVER...

Does that fact that she supports Romney, at least for now, make Romneycare a successful or Conservative enterprise?

Simply put, now that Ann has given her support, are you for Socialized Medicine?

Don't waste your breath of the Mitt Bots, they are troll liberals masquerading here on Freerepublic to sow discord.
If they won't listen to what Jim Rob says about Mit and call Jim Rob a Mittens hater and Mormon hater then they are worse then Obama nuts.

" If this is true then the moral conservative base is too stupid for words."

Think before you speak or write........
That is one of the most stupid statements I ever heard.... that would be something a liberal would say sort of like Keith Olberman....
George Washington was a Moral Conservative, would call him stupid ? ....

You notice that too huh...

The will attack by response any who dare to point out facts that give opposition to Mitt, usually with an arrogant and patronizing tone, speak of the non existent “RDS” and such, tell the poster “they need professional help”

Except when JR makes the very same points..

So much for the courage of their convictions...

That fact alone makes me question their true motives, whether they are "true believers" in Romney...

It’s more about calling attention to them so we can get the trolls banned.

The usage of RDS as a point of attack should earn an instant ZOT.

“The more you post, the loonier you get. You have a problem with dictionaries because they define what words and concepts mean, and you don’t like that. You want things to mean what you want them to mean at the moment, which may not be what they meant 5 minutes ago or what you’ll “redefine” them to mean 5 minutes from now. At best, you’re just a liar, at worst, you’re a delusional psychotic who subscribes to a Stalinist mindset and worldview.”

You’re referring to my understanding of the term “mountain” as not just a dictionary term but having a more personal, colloquial meaning to me as altitude of over 14,000 feet, like much of the Rockies. Same way some lunatics like yourself would call people “psychotic” because they don’t agree with what size constitutes a “lake” versus a “pond”.

I’m not the person that wants people banned for having a certain point of view. That’s you, Stalinist. Seek help.

" She’s a cute, socially conservative cheerleader. That’s the core of her appeal. "

BS !!

That's the ( only ) appeal Mit Romney has for some people , his looks, other than his appeal of liberal politics to some people.
Mit Romney is a Liberal ....
Sarah Palin's appeal as a " Conservative " comes first ( that's a far cry than what can be said about Mit Romney " in the minds of most Conservatives. her looks or whatever comes 2nd .....
Sounds like a bunch of gabby liberals on this thread ( kind of like THE VIEW TV show ) tonight trashing a " Conservative " Palin or any true conservative...

" candidates often change significantly when moving from state to national campaigns.
Many have in the past, and many will in the future. Voters just have to use judgment as to what changes are legitimate, and how a candidate would govern in national office as opposed to state office. "

You just described Mr. Obama's campaign plan of 2008 when he entered the Presidential race from being a state senator...
Yeah, change we can believe in ...

Can we afford a GOP version of Obamania ? ... NOPE !!!

RomneyCare (or it’s equivalent) was a perfectly fine thing to do on the state level. We have 50 laboratories. That’s what the founders intended.

I don’t know how much of the situation in Massachusetts can be attributed to RomneyCare or Deval Patrick. Based on my understanding of Deval Patrick, I’m guessing he had a pretty large role.

The point is, Ann has fought the battles, ad nauseum. She’s done more for our cause than just about anyone. I don’t think we should make enemies with people sympathetic to conservative views, there’s more than enough liberal idiots in government. I also trust Ann’s instincts because of her body of work. Her books have given countless conservatives ample ammunition.

Romney may not be ideal, but I think he’s on our side in general (just like Reagan was after abandoning more liberal policies), and my opinion is buttressed by Coulter, who has spent her entire career in the arena of ideas battling the Left.

" We need a candidate who is exciting "

Excitement does not make tuff and difficult decisions when the safety and welfare of our nation is in jeopardy.

Post #490, kids. This Slick Willard troll keeps offering up jewels one after another. No mountains in Oklahoma because he says so and now Socialist medicine is a "perfectly fine thing." Have fun.

Hey, Stalinist. I just stated the framer’s intent of the states. States are laboratories. A state does something laudatory, it is replicated. A state does something disastrous, it is avoided. A state can do anything constitutional within their own laboratory. People can vote with their feet. That’s the essence of our republic.

Please, try reading some books.

Rugged Individual: RomneyCare (or it’s equivalent) was a perfectly fine thing to do on the state level. We have 50 laboratories. That’s what the founders intended.

Um, NO. The mad science experiment has failed. You must repeat 4th grade science.

The correct blind defense of Romney as a conservative answer is "Romney is against Romnycare as ruined by the democrats".

You are defending a socialist policy. Any denying that it's a socialist disaster is simply bald-faced lying. You are welcome to support socialist disaster polices but this is not the place to express them. Around here we disagree with that kind of crap.

I can cut my finger off I wanted to. That doesn’t mean I SHOULD. Romneycare was perfectly unacceptable in any state.

To sum it up in a nut shell for some people and Mitt Bots to understand ....
True " Conservatives " are looking for someone with " Conservative " principles first ...
Why is this so difficult to explain this to some people ?
