Almost no one in politics or the media will admit it in public, but the GOP lost the Presidency in 2008 by alienating the moral conservative base that the elites loathe. Many stayed home or voted third party, rejecting a nominee who was in fundamental aspects a liberal Democrat.
That is why Barry Sotero a radical socialist with Islamic roots posing as a Christian, groomed for years by Marxist revolutionaries, who hides essential documents of his birth, education and career, who campaigned with illegal funding from overseas interests, who as far as 300 million Americans can honestly tell, was born in a foreign country and (under the plain language of the Supreme Law of the United States, the Constitution) cannot legally be our President, who lacks even the executive experience of a night manager at a self-serve gas station nevertheless sleeps in the White House. Thats why. Do the homework. Look at the demographics.

“I think it would be a positive thing to have women have the choice of taking morning-after pills .I would favor having it available.” - Mitt Romney
GLENN: How do we do that? Do you see another Ronald Reagan out there?
LAFFER: Oh, yeah, there are. Never guess Ronald Reagan before. If you'd known him as governor of California, he is the last person on Earth you'd think to be the great president he became.
GLENN: Why would you say that?
LAFFER: Well, Ronald Reagan raised the highest tax rate in California from 9.3 to 11.2, he raised the capital gains tax rate, he raised the corporate tax rate. He led the equal rights amendment, he chaired it. He put in the first antiabortion stats in the State of California. His legislation.
GLENN: What happened? Wait, wait, wait, I didn't know that. What happened?
LAFFER: Well, that was when he was there. He put in the first criminal furlough program in U.S. history. I mean, he was not one of us then but you know what he always told me, Glenn, was this. He said, you know, I may not have been a good governor but at least I'm better than those other governors because I learned, and I knew that stuff didn't work. And now I can do the right stuff as president. You never can tell what a great president will be until they really get put into office and sometimes you get surprised both ways. I mean, George Herbert Walker Bush, I was very disappointed in him. Do you mean when he said they will ask me for revenue enhancers and I will tell them read my lips, no new taxes?
GLENN: I mean, the apple didn't fall far from the tree.
LAFFER: Unfortunately.
I realize Art Laffer is a minor, minor authority on these matters compared to you guys, but I think I'll take his word for it. Romney is just the most recent in a long line of flippers who made big transitions when entering national politics. I've also heard Laffer mention some very un-conservative moves Reagan made as governor concerning the state employee's union.
I'm betting Romney is even now well into the some sort of transition President Reagan made away from the liberal policies he pursued as Governor of California. Every voter will have to decide for themselves how Romney or any other candidate would govern. I'm betting on Romney and also hope Sarah is ready for the office by 2012.
“There will be children born to same-sex couples, and adopted by same-sax couples, and I believe that there should be rights and privileges associated with those unions and with the children that are part of those unions.” - Mitt Romney
“All people should be allowed to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation.” - Mitt Romney
Romney during an interview with NBCs Meet the Press said he supports the contentious Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which adds sexual orientation to a list of federally protected classes that prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin.
Pull in Reagan, redefine, rinse, repeat...
All they while keeping your hands clean and free of all those pesky facts...
You are full of crap - sorry to be so blunt. You want us all to believe that Romney - who just gave the disintegrating Romneycare an ‘A’ - is in the midst of a middle age Eureka moment when he will suddenly become a true conservative!?!
Bwhahahahaha!
And you want us to bet our entire futures, and the futures of our offspring on this sudden transformation?? Back away from the laughing gas, slowly, so you don't do any more damage to your credibility.
“I was an independent during Reagan/Bush. I’m not trying to go back to Reagan/Bush.” — Mitt Romney
You admitted what I have been saying. McCain was the best, the gop did not blow it. Only maverick McCain would have pushed a green, 2 year governor from alaska into the spotlight. None of the other candidates were better.
If McCain was not the best, tell me who was in 2008.
Just win primaries, and if you lose then stop complaining, you had your chance.
NO! WRONG!
To paraphrase one of the Southern Avenger's columns, there are two types of "conservative" Republicans: ones who actually believe in small and limited government, and the ones who think that Big Government is acceptable so long as Republicans are the ones running the show.
Romney, McCain, et al. are part of the latter group.
We should plan to shift the balance of Congress back to serious conservatives, not just Republicans (and RINOs). After all, the Republicans held majorities in Congress from 1994 to 2006, including six years under a Republican president, and what happened? Nothing conservative.
If McCain was not the best, tell me who was in 2008.

Duncan Hunter, then FRed Thompson..
Did duncan hunter ever get more than 5000 votes in any primary ? Fred was an early to bed, very late to get up kind of a guy who is really not suited for POTUS.
Hunter’s campaign was an embarassment. I think I might have gotten more votes than he did. Fred just did not want to be potus.
Your question was:
“If McCain was not the best, tell me who was in 2008.”

My answer:
Duncan Hunter, then FRed Thompson..
Hunters campaign was an embarassment.

Why would a conservative be embarassed ???
Since you brought up the word, embarassment would fit the campaign of RINO Romney and his liberal views...
Slam dunk!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“perhaps you should consider joining another forum”
Been here since 1998 - but I think you are right.
