The problem with the two party system is evident in McCain, He is not a bad guy, and he brings up valid points, but I’ll be the last person that advocates non Conserv values.

Speaking at a LARAZA function lost some swing states, in that, I have no doubt. I’ll never openly admit (in mixed company) that I voted for McCain. He’s wrong about a great many things, folk like myself held our noses and voted for the lesser of two evils.

If I thought Bob Barr, or Ron Paul (silly but not evil)or any third party candidate had a chance I would have voted for them.

Third party option is out, not because it is not right, but because it is simply not feasable at this time. Taking back the GOP - back to Conservatisim - is within the realm of possibility. We shold understand McCain and refuse his opinion to his face, we should not be more inclusive of the GOP, but define it further still to the point of acceptance of the hard working taxpayers, after all (we) they foot the bill.

It should always be about how our tax money is spent.

Let’s face it, the Republicans also need to figure out what to do with the Spanish-speaking community in its various aspects.

Maybe we could start by reaching out to those who value what America stands for more than they do La Raza. Like supporting the guy running against Charlie Crist in Florida. Or clearing the backlog of visa applications of those who want to come here and contribute but are stuck in line behind the illegal alien lobby. Or if you must give preference to illegal aliens, at least make some distinction between the lettuce picker and the drug smuggler and give it to those who are really here to work rather than to mooch.

Screw you, McCain...and your daughter too.

I'll pass too. I've lived this long without catching anything, I'd prefer to go out that way.

Actually I’d LOVE for the Republican Party to be inclusive, as long as those who want to join us ALSO want the Republican principles such as smaller government, lower taxes, and respect for unborn human life, to be moved forward in this country.

The lead article pretty much tells you what “ails” the so called current Republican Party. That mindset espoused by McCain (and other so called leaders of the party) is exactly what has brought the party to its’ shameful place in gov. today.

It's pretty disheartening to read the likes of this drival from McCain and realize the party has learned NOTHING from 8 years of fiscal insanity spending and trashing the Constitution, and preaching “inclusivness”, as well as the thundering silence from the idiots, (the Republicans) in Congress pretty much tells it all....it's not that we don't want to include as many as choose to join the “Republican Party OF OLD”.... but we don't throw our basic foundation of fiscal conservatism, LOVE of country, capitalism as part of what has made this country stand out tall over the rest of the world....we should NOT throw those principles under the bus just to get people whose hearts are drawn to the far left extremism of what is currently the Democratic Party....we'd be better off without them....as in Specter....he could have taken several more RINOS with him. They vote with the libs and apparently are quite comfortable doing so...we can do without them...we don't need people from the Republican party preaching the lib line...frankly there will not be a whole lot of difference between the parties if we keep on. I am pondering whether or not to stay in the party if the so called leaders are hell bent to drag up the likes of another McCain for us to vote for...if they do...we will find ourselves stuck with the Soc./Marxist guy currently in the white house who is systematically dismantling our country as we know it.

It's time people stop thinking and voting according to their party affiliation, and rather, ask themselves what is good for America...the heck with this one world crap and the promotion of the guy in the white house as some kind of god...for gosh sakes WAKE UP AMERICANS...even with her short comings, our dear land is so much better than any other country to live in....we are so blessed...and that guy in the white house is no better, no brighter than we are....actually my estimation of him, those around him, his wife....all a bunch of Chicago thugs who have the backing of some big money, obviously...evil...that's all I can say.

The beginning and end of it is the Republican party is paralyzed by its fear of the ever increasing hispanic vote.

Everything they do must be viewed through this prism.

Chuckle. I am probably amongst the last to note that perhaps "inclusive" will mean that Conservatives will be welcomed.

Not!

The fact that McCain was nominated to be the Republican presidential candidate is a pretty clear indication that the Republican Party is already too inclusive.

Giggle.

Republicans are already as inclusive as MLK dreamed we would some day become. Conservatives judge people by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin, and we should be proud to do that rather than using the racist standards that liberals demand.

‘Whatever McCain and the moderates were selling, America isn’t buying.’

There are no great moments in Moderate Political History, only losses.

McCain ran to lose with ‘honor’ as he perceives it. Anyone remotely objective realizes that if not for Huckabee, McCain wouldn’t have won anything, he’d have been ‘back in the pack’.

I don’t know if Romney could have won, but I do know he wouldn’t have been AFRAID to go after Obama on all issues.

McCain was flat out TERRIFIED of doing so.

I totally agree with you there.
You forgot only one factor, though: Fred Thompson.

I don’t know if Fred really was McCain’s “stalking horse” or not, but he certainly had the same effect.
Had Fred not gotten into the race (and then proceed to take a nap at the gate) then either Republicans would coalesced around Romney earlier, instead of wasting time waiting for Fred to wake up, or Newt would have entered into the race, probably securing the nomination.

Fair points, thank you.

I’ll always blame Huckabee, none the less, and will NEVER EVER support HIM for anything.

One of the most unforgivable things about McCain is the way that he has looked the other way to the plight of the people of Arizona as their state is ground zero in the illegal alien invasion. I am a person who knows much about the problems of illegal immigration since I have read much about the problem. I know that some parts of Arizona are very dangerous and lawless because of the illegals. Many Arizonans have to live in fear because dangerous Mexican organized crime people are passing through their communities every day. Yet McCain has been deaf, dumb and blind to the problem. There is no excuse for this, he had to know what has been going on since desperate people have been writing letters, sending emails, and phone calls. McCain is one of those phoney liberals who wears his “compassion” on his sleeve. Unfortunately he has more compassion for foreigners than for his own people.

I was really disgusted with Huckabee and disappointed with many Christian people who could not see through this man. We have to be much more sophisticated than we have been in the past if we are to win the wars against the rinos. The rinos live by images just like the Dems. They both find Hollywood stereotypes that they think will go big with the voters. For instance, McCain was the war hero so he got a lot of votes for that. Huckabee was a former minister with a folksy manner, so many religious people and small town people voted for him because they thought he was one of them.

This is the great illusion of politics, to make people believe that the candidate is “one of them”. The politicians know just how to push our buttons whether they are Dems or Republicans, there are lots of manipulators in both parties. We have to discipline ourselves not to go with our emotions but to realize that what you see is not always what you get. Politicians deal in deception.

I think we have to be the party of the responsible people who hold everything together like John Gault in Atlas Shrugged. I think there is a very powerful sense out there among the middle class responsible people that they are the pack animals who carry all of the burdens of the irresponsible people including lying politicians. We have to be the party of those who have a house or wish to have a house some day. I found some data that said that about 80% of voters are homeowners. I think all homeowners should be ours. Homeowners are usually the people who do the right things. They are workers and savers - natural Republicans.
