I think the PUMAs are the most objective political presence in this election cycle. Sure, they supported Hillary Clinton, but they were able to break out of party shackles and objectively see that Obama points their party in the wrong direction.
One interesting observation is their surprise at how Democratic party leaders allowed Hillary to be maligned while the Republican party stood by Sarah Palin, even in her darkest hour. Some of those attacks against Hillary were harsh and frequently sexist. Such as Obama's comment about Hillary and "periodic" rage.

Of course, one can argue that this is not the same thing, but I happen to believe the Republicans, or more correctly, conservatives still believe a little bit more in chivalry. Much has been made of Christianity and its demands that women submit to their husbands, but not much is made of the fact that men are told that their families are more important than themselves.
In a liberal world, men and women are equal. Boys should play house and girls should play with trucks. Actually, they should probably be making their own compost pile, but I digress. Obama has turned to saying that Sarah is tough enough to be treated like a man.
Of course, she is not treated like a man. Obama is a weekend parent, but Palin is criticized for having a child and daring to run for president. She is cited for her appearance. Anderson Cooper talked about her manicured nails last night.
There is also the "style over substance" issue. Because Palin is young and attractive, her experience is judged more harshly as a vice presidential candidate than the Democratic presidential candidate. The claim is that she was picked for shallow reasons. Obama was given a speaking position in 2004 because he was one of a very few Democrats poised to win a toss-up seat. A seat he won, to a great extent, because his Republican opponent dropped out months before the election. Not exactly the qualification for a president.
I don't think most Democrats hate women. I do think that the liberal wing of the party has decided to "look past" gender in such a way that they have no qualms about using deeply personal sexist attacks because they "work." Well, in the Republican party, men are men and women are women. And our men love our women.
> one of the biggest mistakes Obama made was not picking Hillary as his VP.
Michelle would not hear of it!
What is a PUMA?
Flipping thru channels a few min ago, on CNN I stopped to hear a woman telling Anderson that the dems had to get people to attack Sarah Palin on her beliefs on abortion, immigration and other issues that would show she was out of the mainstream of American women. She said they should get interviews to conflict with her on these issues, so pass this on to until the McCain Camp gets the info and knows how to reject certain far left interviews for Palin alone.
What will they do when Obama sends out the hildabest to try to save him from Sarah?
It means “Party Unity My Ass” and refers to the women who were backing Hillary. (I had to ask, too)
Newsflash...She is going to get the male democrats..Will not even need the girls.
“What is a PUMA?”
PUMA stands for “Party Unity My Ass!” In other words, Hillary supporters who will not tow the party line and support Obama just because he’s a Dem.
IMO, one of the biggest mistakes Obama made was not picking Hillary as his VP. I’m glad he’s not secure enough to have made that leap. Despite what the media is trying to claim, I think John McCain’s pick of Sarah Palin will win him the majority of the PUMAs this November.

I’ll go even further. Obama and Hillary could have had their “Dream ticket”, with HER at the top.
All Obama would have to do, is realize that:
1) he can’t win without women
2) he and Hillary were close in votes cast
3) he has NO executive experience
4) by letting Hillary go first, he could learn from her, and not be bothered by Bill, the way he would if Hillary were the VP.
All Obama needed was a moment of humility and clarity.
Hello PUMAs!!! We love justice as much as you do!
Welcome to the par-tay!
“There is also the “style over substance” issue. Because Palin is young and attractive, her experience is judged more harshly as a vice presidential candidate than the Democratic presidential candidate.”
I just LOVE how all this has boomeranged back on BHO’s camp and the MSM. BHO is a CLASSIC example of style over substance...young and attractive, etc., etc. So now, suddenly, it’s a bad thing because our side has it??? :-))))))))))))) Worse yet, in Palin’s case, she has both style AND substance. And it’s driving the other side beserk.
Damm I missed that one..Obama dodged getting slapped down for that smart ass crack?... I starting to see why the PUMA had such a major bug up the ass on Obama
“What is a PUMA?”
are you asking seriously? it’s a good one - a grassroots (pretty large) group formed after Hillary dropped out, by disgruntled supporters of hers - many of whom, btw, have pledged their votes to McCain now.
it stands for Party Unity My Ass. for real. :-))))))))
