Chivalry Ain't Dead (Sarah, Hillary, the PUMAs and Obama)
Rome NY Sucks ^ | September 05, 2008

Posted on 09/05/2008 8:07:47 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

I think the PUMAs are the most objective political presence in this election cycle. Sure, they supported Hillary Clinton, but they were able to break out of party shackles and objectively see that Obama points their party in the wrong direction.

One interesting observation is their surprise at how Democratic party leaders allowed Hillary to be maligned while the Republican party stood by Sarah Palin, even in her darkest hour. Some of those attacks against Hillary were harsh and frequently sexist. Such as Obama's comment about Hillary and "periodic" rage.

(VIDEO AT LINK)

Of course, one can argue that this is not the same thing, but I happen to believe the Republicans, or more correctly, conservatives still believe a little bit more in chivalry. Much has been made of Christianity and its demands that women submit to their husbands, but not much is made of the fact that men are told that their families are more important than themselves.

In a liberal world, men and women are equal. Boys should play house and girls should play with trucks. Actually, they should probably be making their own compost pile, but I digress. Obama has turned to saying that Sarah is tough enough to be treated like a man.

Of course, she is not treated like a man. Obama is a weekend parent, but Palin is criticized for having a child and daring to run for president. She is cited for her appearance. Anderson Cooper talked about her manicured nails last night.

There is also the "style over substance" issue. Because Palin is young and attractive, her experience is judged more harshly as a vice presidential candidate than the Democratic presidential candidate. The claim is that she was picked for shallow reasons. Obama was given a speaking position in 2004 because he was one of a very few Democrats poised to win a toss-up seat. A seat he won, to a great extent, because his Republican opponent dropped out months before the election. Not exactly the qualification for a president.

I don't think most Democrats hate women. I do think that the liberal wing of the party has decided to "look past" gender in such a way that they have no qualms about using deeply personal sexist attacks because they "work." Well, in the Republican party, men are men and women are women. And our men love our women.

Nope, Obama’s mistake was not picking Govenor Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas as his VP nominee. This left McCain with three opennings:

1. maybe the most important one is that you can NOT run as a change agent with two US Senators on the ticket,

2. of course a woman VP nominee for the GOP might attract some non-operation chaos disaffected H. Clinton voters

3. and McCain could run ads showing the Dim VP nominee saying the Dim Presidential nominee is not ready for the job.

McCain or McBrilliant was smart enough to see that Govenor Palin allowed the campaign to exploit all these opennings while at the same time energizing the GOP base behind him.

In addition McCain was not scared off by her newest or saw that her experience made her a “tar baby” opponent for Obama. “Please Mr. Obama dont talk about my inexperience.” And of course the more Obama mentions her inexperience the more people notice his inexperience and the more he gets entangled trying to explain his vast experience as a community organizer. I have never seen the top of one ticket being compared to the 2nd on the other ticket like this.

Had Obama picked Govenor Sebelius, McCain probably goes Pawlenty or Romney. He still might have won, but boy Governor Sarah Palin has been much more fun.

What is a PUMA?

Thinner than a BUCK knife, can be sharpened to a keener edge, but won't hold the edge as long as a BUCK.

Paul said....Eph 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

You should see the videos pumas made about Obama’s goon squad, voter fraud, intimidation tactics and vote stealing, despicable.

Obama thugs telling little old ladies at voting places, “Don’t come in here unless you’re voting for Obama” Most left.

“An even greater mistake was not vetting Hillary in the first place.”

His greatest mistake in not vetting her is that it was rubbing salt into the wounds - a great insult that became public - not vetting her showed that she wasn’t even being considered for veep. This was a BIG mistake on his part.

Hell hath no fury.............

Obama enlists Clinton to help counter Palin (Hussein Obomber having trouble with ‘experience’) http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2075099/posts

I saw that and wondered what the PUMAs would make of that. I was already hearing the excuses in my mind..."She has to do it to save her career and her place in the party" (the same party that threw her under the bus?? that one?), "She's doing it to keep hope alive for 2012", etc.

I almost want to register on some of those sites to clue them in. One poster suggested a Hillary/Sarah ticket in 2012. I had to swallow hard at that one.

In another post, several speculated that the orange tie worn by McCain and the orange "Terrible Towels" being waved were in support of Hillary and some orange pantsuit. I choked on that one.

Yes, I am happy to have their votes, but I don't think for a second these people are truly converted. If BHO were to withdraw for some reason (like a forged birth certificate perhaps?), they would back her so fast, the whole web might feel the WOOSH!

“Flipping thru channels a few min ago, on CNN...”

CNN’s getting increasingly vitriolic, particularly tonight. yes, saw AC 360. Now, on Larry King, idiot Michael Moore is spewing his propaganda. What a waste of oxygen consumption on the planet. And it just AMAZES me how horribly uninformed the far left is, and how angrily vocal they are about it.

“Nope, Obama’s mistake was not picking Govenor Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas as his VP nominee.”

I would’ve loved that - it would have assured him a TRUE life-long enemy in Hillary then, and we’d be guaranteed ALL the PUMA votes.

However, in the long run, I don’t think Biden’ll impress the masses. Old news - talk about “politics as usual”, that’s Joe Biden (as well as BHO, who’s just in a younger package).

My husband used to bring up Eph. 5:24 from time to time. I would always remind him that it is dangerous to take one sentence out of context because the following verse tells husbands that they should love their wives as Christ loved the church and that meant he should love me enough to die for me. Funny - he doesn't bring that verse up much any more.

“One poster suggested a Hillary/Sarah ticket in 2012”

Now, that’s an impossibility. However, I’ve already heard fantasy speculation voiced about Hillary VERSUS Sarah in ‘12.

I know that and you know that but THEY don't. And yes, some of them are thinking along the HRC/SP line for 2012, but some of them just aren't thinking.

Flipping thru channels a few min ago, on CNN I stopped to hear a woman telling Anderson that the dems had to get people to attack Sarah Palin on her beliefs on abortion, immigration and other issues that would show she was out of the mainstream of American women.

What IS her belief on illegals? I haven't been able to find anything out except that she didn't do anything to stop AK from being a sanctuary state during the time she was in. Of course, she was handling other issues during the time, so I don't consider that a problem until she comes out for amnesty.

Either she will have to be for amnesty or McCain will have to do an about face and become against it. They will have to appear united. I am really hoping his pick of a conservative states that he is willing to compromise (by considering the right's point of view for a change - a different sort of compromise for him.)

Excellent point. I think he scored a home run because of all the things Palin brings to the ticket - small town, conservative, out of washington, history of doing what's right even if against her own party, has guns and religion. She's everything the elitist snobs on the left have been insulting - and I predict those small town, gun owning, and church going folks will come out in droves to vote for her. (Not McCain, but for her and the future of the party. The same for many of us, actually.)

Same here. I think it shows how shallow they are - they're voting on the basis of gender alone, obviously. Hillary's and Palin's values and ideology are 180 degrees apart. But - I'm glad to have them onboard, but wouldn't ever consider them to be 'part' of our side.
