Nope, Obama’s mistake was not picking Govenor Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas as his VP nominee. This left McCain with three opennings:

1. maybe the most important one is that you can NOT run as a change agent with two US Senators on the ticket,

2. of course a woman VP nominee for the GOP might attract some non-operation chaos disaffected H. Clinton voters

3. and McCain could run ads showing the Dim VP nominee saying the Dim Presidential nominee is not ready for the job.

McCain or McBrilliant was smart enough to see that Govenor Palin allowed the campaign to exploit all these opennings while at the same time energizing the GOP base behind him.

In addition McCain was not scared off by her newest or saw that her experience made her a “tar baby” opponent for Obama. “Please Mr. Obama dont talk about my inexperience.” And of course the more Obama mentions her inexperience the more people notice his inexperience and the more he gets entangled trying to explain his vast experience as a community organizer. I have never seen the top of one ticket being compared to the 2nd on the other ticket like this.

Had Obama picked Govenor Sebelius, McCain probably goes Pawlenty or Romney. He still might have won, but boy Governor Sarah Palin has been much more fun.

“Nope, Obama’s mistake was not picking Govenor Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas as his VP nominee.”

I would’ve loved that - it would have assured him a TRUE life-long enemy in Hillary then, and we’d be guaranteed ALL the PUMA votes.

However, in the long run, I don’t think Biden’ll impress the masses. Old news - talk about “politics as usual”, that’s Joe Biden (as well as BHO, who’s just in a younger package).

Excellent point. I think he scored a home run because of all the things Palin brings to the ticket - small town, conservative, out of washington, history of doing what's right even if against her own party, has guns and religion. She's everything the elitist snobs on the left have been insulting - and I predict those small town, gun owning, and church going folks will come out in droves to vote for her. (Not McCain, but for her and the future of the party. The same for many of us, actually.)
