I’ve read that Mike Haridopolos is among the most conservative members of the state legislature. In this solidly Republican district, that makes him a good choice.

His daughter telling the police as they arrested her that “Daddy is a Congressman”, that “there’ll be a bunch of lawyers waiting for you when we arrive at the station”, and saying Daddy would “have their jobs” was likely a pretty good impetus that for the sake of his family, it was time to move on. Pity, he seemed like a decent guy.

Dave Weldon’s district is not solidly conservative. In fact it is only Republican by about 4 points.

Republicans represent the large majority of the area in the state legislature, which is a good sign.

Haridopolos endorsed the Huckster and Amendment 1 so he lost points in my book. He is still a good family man and would do a decent job representing us. I hate to think what DC will do to him and his, though.
