Within hours of the announcement, Democrat Nancy Higgs, a former Brevard County commissioner, said she would run. Two Republican state senators, Mike Haridopolos of Melbourne and Bill Posey of Rockledge, also said they are considering bids.

I’ve read that Mike Haridopolos is among the most conservative members of the state legislature. In this solidly Republican district, that makes him a good choice.
Cool deal. I hope he runs.
His daughter telling the police as they arrested her that “Daddy is a Congressman”, that “there’ll be a bunch of lawyers waiting for you when we arrive at the station”, and saying Daddy would “have their jobs” was likely a pretty good impetus that for the sake of his family, it was time to move on. Pity, he seemed like a decent guy.
Dave Weldon’s district is not solidly conservative. In fact it is only Republican by about 4 points.
Republicans represent the large majority of the area in the state legislature, which is a good sign.
Haridopolos endorsed the Huckster and Amendment 1 so he lost points in my book. He is still a good family man and would do a decent job representing us. I hate to think what DC will do to him and his, though.
