No; it was Colonel Mustard in the Conservatory with the Revolver.

But smart money looks to get in & out quickly and gain high ROI. If you bought Hunter’s nomination contract and he went up to 4% today, you’d get 40X return on your investment. In order to get the same level of gain with Thompson, he’d have to win the presidency outright, which wouldn’t happen for a year and is not as likely as Hunter gaining 4%.

Yeah, I agree, and I see it that the LP has moved leftward. I’m glad you found a home. Keep in mind that Free Republic is not affiliated with the GOP, so don’t let anyone browbeat you into voting for a GOP candidate if you don’t think he’s conservative enough.

I’m glad you see that they’ve moved farther left, that was my feeling too. I know many, many of my friends back in Colorado who have abandoned the LP as well in favor of trying to help the GOP for the same reasons as I.

I definitely don’t make my decisions based on others. I really truly like Fred Thompson. And, Duncan Hunter is a very close second. There is no way that I’ll support a non-Conservative even if he does supposedly represent the GOP. I don’t like playing games, and I think there is something that stinks to high heaven in the upper reaches of the GOP itself (i.e. the whole Shamnesty debacle and the NAU). I also don’t respond well to threats (i.e. if you don’t support this person it’s supporting a Dem rhetoric). LOL Don’t know what I’ll do if neither Thompson nor Hunter get a fair shot at the nomination... I may just decide to sit out again...

I should probably add, sit out as far as National Politics. I think there’s still hope for the GOP here in Wisconsin. I don’t know one person who isn’t sick and tired of the taxes we are paying here...

Well, I hope you and your wife enjoy your dinner, and I hope they have the Boston Cream Pie, too! ;)

We did, and they did.

Now it's back to caucus madness.

I’m glad to hear it! :)

I took some time “off” and we all engaged in a civics lesson over dinner and afterwards (we homeschool our daughters). They had so many questions regarding this process and all the hoopla surrounding it on TV. A true “teachable moment”... I just love it when that happens (them coming to ME instead of the other way around ;))

too funny, but likely true since he is aging. I am new to this board and may be posting in the wrong place. I am very concerned over the elections and want to make CERTAIN that everyone know what Romney Stands For! I am TOTALLY AGAINST ROMNEY AND EVERYTHING HE STANDS FOR!!!! I can explain why!

Like everyone else, I am watching the caucases with hopeful optimism, Romney doesn’t want to come in 2nd..... He has all that stinkin money tho, and thinks he can buy the American Public! I just need to know where to post tomorrow, so that I can get my message out about Romney! Now till the election baby, Romney cannot win, I would rather vote for Hillary and I am a staunch life long Republican! I can prove it!
Sorry to jump in to a post that is likely not the right one. Can anyone direct me?

What I’ll do is what I’ve done in the past when confronted with a straightforward RINO: 100% republican ticket. But I write in the republican who should have had the slot. 100% republican, so the downticket guys don’t suffer and the party gets a message.

This thread could be really funny which would be nice. I’m sick of this election and the primaries haven’t even started.

If I never see the word “poll” again in my lifetime it will be waaaaaay too soon.

Sorry it is a Harry Potter reference. A character in the series would self-mutilate for doing “bad” things. Usually by bashing himself over the head or ironing his hands.

And I wasn’t trying to put you in your place. Jeez, martyrdom, much?

I thought you had already answered the question but it turned out to be lkco. Thanks. When the kids get older, I’ll probably be more aware of the Harry Potter references. Right now I can probably amaze you with trivia about Veggie Tales.

>>Nonsense. I’m not a McCain fan (quite the contrary - I’m for FRED), but why on earth would McCain drop out before the NH primary when he’s got Lieberman’s endorsement which may help him with national-security-minded voters in the northeast. Plus, one thing I’ll say for McCain: he doesn’t quit. The single thing I agree with him on is his strong stance on the war on terror, and I applauded him when he said he’d rather lose the presidential race than lose that war.<<

Not to mention he is shooting up like a rocket in New Hampshire

Well good for you, both for the homeschooling and taking the opportunity to apply the civics lesson.

I monitored the election thread until FR became too slow. I didn’t do any posting; it was all I could do to keep up with the thread. Finally I gave up and did some reading.

No surprises except for where Clinton came in. And that wasn’t all that big a surprise. Fred didn’t finish as strong a 3rd as I’d like to see, but it doesn’t hurt him, IMO. Romney was the big loser last night. And Huckabee’s win isn’t all he’ll try to make it out to be. The more that comes out about and from him, the sooner his bubble will burst.

This was just the first in a long series of events. Get the popcorn out. It’s gonna be a long show.
