The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Rudy Giuliani with a double-digit lead for the third straight day in the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination. Giuliani is supported by 28% of Likely Primary Voters, ten points ahead of Fred Thompson who earns support from 18%. Mitt Romney slipped another point to 14%, John McCain is steady at 10% and while Mike Huckabee remains at 6% (see recent daily numbers).

That Rudy? Why, you are just mean-spirited.

The fix for this is fairly simple: If you support anyone other than Romney or Fred and you’re a conservative, pick one of the top two conservatives NOW and create history.

I also agree. Hopefully, over the next month, we’ll see more people considering this. According to the FR polls, Fred is an overwhelming favorite among both the members and lurkers. As things begin to shake out, I hope those who have fought the good fight for other candidates who have not gained enough momentum to win in the primary will gravitate toward him, too.

You’re ready the poll wrong, Fred gets less than 50%.

He cannot win with that kind of support even though FreeRepublic is conservative site.

Around 55% of Freepers will not vote for him ever!

That probably translates to about 30% of the general republican electorate. He cannot win with those numbers, not even close! Just like everyone has been stating, he splits the Republican Party and is the one Republican Candidate guaranteed to hand the Presidency to Hillary!

He is Toast!

It is also early in the poll’s life and I expect his numbers will drop.

I’ll pick whoever is most competitive with Giuliani when Colorado’s primary roles along. I have to confess, I am excited about none of the candidates. I’m no longer sure any of them can beat Hillary. Sorry, feeling glum, and starting to feel that Rudy is going to win.

Can’t some group put out some commercials in primary states, with nothing but Giuliani clips? “In his own words” type stuff, that will horrify any Republican that sees them? After the primary will be too late. I’d rather we do it now than Hillary do it later.

What in the world would make you believe most would not vote for him “ever”? Fred has negatives as do all candidates but I see none that would make him so reviled by so many. He is not a Rudy and few would say he’s not been a long time consistent conservative. I believe most conservatives really would see a clear and acceptable choice if the Democrat offering was Hillary. And, using your logic, if Fred [who clearly scores highest in the polls here] has no chance, then who CAN be our nominee? If you are more than 20 years old, surely you know that the GOP never has total agreement on a whoever we field in a presidential race. There was certainly not full agreement on GW Bush, but he was elected twice. I could not disagree more with your assessment.
