Did you post this to GOP Club? If so, why? It won’t get nearly as many views/replies unless posted under News/Activism. Just trying to help since you referred to it as “must read.”
It’s from a blog, so I thought the rules prohibited posting to news/activism...
I think only if the URL ends in either .blogspot.com or .wordpress.com.
Otherwise, it’s okay (I think).
So far, there’s five replies and we’re the only one’s posting to the thread!
I support Fred, but he is no Ronald Reagan. I put him squarely in the middle of Bush and Reagan. Bush is actually a strong social conservative, possibly even stronger than Fred, but Fred is good enough on social issues and much stronger than Bush on smaller government conservatism and communication. Fred is not in the same league as Reagan when it comes to communication though.
Ping!
This is a very, very important point! Unless conservatives want to have to hold their nose to vote for Rudy! - to keep Hillary! from winning - we had better start lining up behind a conservative candidate that can win.
I'm holding off to make a final judgment until I see Fred perform in a debate against the rest of the candidates, but unless he just completely botches it - I will have to make a serious decision to vote for Fred Thompson in the primary. I had planned to vote for Duncan Hunter, but I do not believe that he is going to get that much support & I don't want to throw my vote away & let Rudy get the nomination.
I can live with Fred, I might could even live with Mitt Romney - but let's face it - every vote for a second tier candidate is a vote that could have been used to defeat Rudy Guiliani. He only has so much core support, but it is still enough to keep him in 1st or 2nd place in most polls. HOWEVER - if all of the rest of us can think ahead enough to figure it out - there are more than enough of us to insure that Rudy will not be our nominee. After we get rid of him, I'm pretty sure we can beat the beast.
This strategy is not the one I wanted, but it's getting down to reality time now & we have to start sticking together if we want to win.
I am hoping for a Thompson/Hunter ticket, but if that does not happen, if Fred wins it and goes to the White house, I’ll be happy to have Hunter as Sec of Def.

Sorry about the double posting, the server is not working well tonight.

Well said. We have to join together.

ilja is an excellent writer and and has a true heart. I’m proud to have shared some bandwidth with her over the past few years. With her kind permission, I cross-posted this essay on two of my own blogs. It deserves the widest possble readership.
Excellent essay. Thanks for posting.
She has the same threshold that I have. The one line that I will not cross. Rudy Giuliani doesn’t just cross that line, he stomps on it.
Intelligent article and my feelings exactly.

God bless you.
