In The GOP We Trust
Renew America ^ | Nov 28, 2006 | Chuck Baldwin

Posted on 12/01/2006 6:54:56 AM PST by A. Pole

Today's column is written primarily for the benefit of my fellow Christians and pastors. More than 31 years as a minister of the Gospel qualifies me to broach this subject.

[...]

Some will say that I am exaggerating the subject or trying to oversimplify a complex issue, but I am not. When one blows away the smoke, Christian ministers throughout America have sold their congregations on the notion that the only "spiritual" thing we can do regarding affairs of state is to support the Republican Party-no matter what.

[...]

The reason given by Christian leaders for this compromise of principle is, "Republicans are better than the alternative." It is the old "lesser of two evils" mantra that we hear over and over again.

[...]

I am already hearing leaders of the Religious Right say that they will support the 2008 GOP presidential nominee, even if he or she is pro-choice and pro-gay marriage. Their argument (try not to laugh): a pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage Republican is not as bad as a pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage Democrat.

What is pathetically sad is that it appears that the illustrious leaders of the Religious Right are genuinely sincere in the above reasoning. Equally sad is the reality that these same evangelical leaders have already proven that they will give Republicans a pass on infinitely important issues such as the dismantlement of constitutional liberty (i.e. the Patriot Act), the sellout of American sovereignty via Draconian "free trade" deals, massive illegal immigration (which sacrifices America's culture and even security), and the wholesale explosion of federal spending. This is accepted, because it is the Republican George W. Bush that has led it. Of course, had it been a Democrat such as Al Gore or John Kerry that was responsible, these same Christian leaders would be out front leading the opposition.

Hey, this might be a reason to have Democrats in the office. When Clinton was president the budget got balanced because of Republican scrutiny.

I am not his fan either, just to avoid any misunderstanding. But he makes a valid point here.

Amen (so to speak).

So? This is a free country. They have the right to choose who ever they want.

If they feel the Republicans are better, though not perfect, than the democrats, then good for them. I agree. I'd like to see the Republicans 10x farther to the right, and so would the Religious rights, but we won't get there by electing far left wing socialist/communist democrats, now will we? DUH!

I think I recall a stat that the Senate "cleansed" itself of 45% of it's RINOs. As they say, that's a good start.

I'm interested in his comments on CFR. We've certainly had some headed discussions on that topic.

"Does anyone not know that the CFR is among the most active and influential organizations promoting an economic and governmental One World Order? The CFR has been the puppeteer pulling the strings of both Republican and Democratic administrations for years.

Behind the emerging North American Union is the CFR. Behind the NAFTA superhighway is the CFR. Behind the push for amnesty for illegal aliens is the CFR. Behind CAFTA and the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) is the CFR. Behind the outsourcing of America's jobs, factories, and livelihoods is the CFR.

According to the late Admiral Chester Ward, Judge Advocate General of the U.S. Navy, the CFR's goal is "submergence of U.S. sovereignty and national independence into an all-powerful one-world government."

So, let's consider the party of death (abortion), same-sex marriage, higher taxes, bigger government, globalism (read UN taxation and control of the US), embryonic stem cell research (more murder), socialistic controls over the economy (in the name of global warming, or the new term, climate change), public indoctrination centers for children (called, publc schools), income redistribution, elimination of religion from the public square, universal health (so-called) care, institutionalization of children (it takes a Village to raise a child, they say), fleeing from Iraq like they had us do from Viet Nam, and more. The party of Reid, Pelosi, Kerry, Clinton, Obama, Rangel, Murtha, Webb, et al. No thanks!

I know. It is depressing. With exception of "universal health care of course" :)

Ok, I have now read the entire article...he is advocating a new party. Let's be real: GOOD LUCK! It's just not going to happen...as much as I agree that a new party would be a good thing.

People say the rise of a one world leader (the Antichrist) could never happen. They say the concept of a mark being used to force the sharing the wealth is an impossibility.
Go figure.

Look to Canada for an illustration of "universal health care" and it's value. Canadians are streaming over the border, just pay for decent health care. Hillary-care is not what we want.

"Cleansed" itself of RINOs who were replaced by nooby Dems who will unquestioningly do Reid and Pelosi's bidding.

Real smart, that.

They're not doing so good. Their health care system is not feeling well. I think it's a terminal illness....

I pretty much agree, but not worried about the Patriot Act, left wing hype IMHO. Heard a minister (Evangelical) telling the "flock" and the RNC, "Don't take us for granted". I do not attend "formal" religion but am religious and have strict views. I agree with him. In essence, if the Blue Dog Dims ever take over their party, and implement AMERICAN views, the GOP will loose their non-corporate voters. "Power" means more to the parties and politicians than votes or America - both parties protect the US only to implement their greedy policies.

Reasonable people will not take over the Democratic party. Bad as it may sound to say this, the Republican party is the only game in town for believers in family values. Pastor Chuck, like many evangelicals and other "righter than thou"-ers, is chest-pounding rather than constructively engaging politics. It's music to the Democrats' ears, because if conservatives are unified and serious, they have a chance to win, and if they're not, they don't. This man has nothing intelligent to say about politics. Baldwin has a loser's mentality, and he makes losers of the people who follow his worthless political advice.

I know... but I DID trust in the GOP... now look ... Mexican gangs are attacking our UNARMED National Guard stationed at the border! Although I agree with the war in IRAQ and think we should have been out by now, the Iraq Iran Border is the wrong border for the GOP to defend when the US is being invaded by armed and unarmed illegal entrants!

Can't wait for the Congress to pass Martinez AMNESTY bill, our "sainted" Ronald Regan did the same and things got worse. I did vote for a Dem state Attorney General in hopes he would put some of the deserving GOP in prison. I still do not know why the GOP didn't prosecute the Demz when they got in - everyone shaking hands?

I no longer believe we are a Democracy, of the people by the people etc. We now elect a Party whose position changes with greed. Soon a President will think he (she) knows more than the Party; just as the Political Parties now think they know more than the electorate. I think that person will still be called President with the added statement "for life".
