She might have won if she had run for re-election in the House and let someone viable run in the Senate.

Wow. She was on Medved show yesterday and Medved was uncharacteristically hostile to her. Yet Medved couldn't have been more deferential to Will McBride the day before on his show.

Yes, the part when McBride advocated for multi-language ballots, Medved was strangely quiet. Medved rants against non-assimilation regularly, his bias was on display.
To: NeoCaveman
That might be because Harris refused to appear on the show on Monday with McBride. She only appeared on Tuesday and then refused to let Medved play a clip of McBride asking Harris a question.

That might be the case.
I don't listen to Medved all that much to begin with and will probably listen less in the future. I would have rather heard the candidates interviewed by Tim Russert. Yes it was that bad.

The Harris horse, RIP, shows more life than the Harris campaign.

See post #48. The horse didn't just quit.

From the Hill News...............Rove knew this was coming six months ago.
"In March, Rove twice met with Harris, triggering speculation that he was urging her not to run. While Harris disputed that account at the time, Republicans in Washington and Florida maintained that the White House wanted her to remain in the House."
To: JohnnyZ
38% from her own party.
This is going to be seriously ugly in November.

22. Do you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of Katherine Harris?
Favorable 17%
Unfavorable 61%
Undecided 22%
This speaks volumes, along with only 38% support from her own base.
Man, I hope McBride can pull the upset.....

This has nothing to do with Karl Rove. It's all HER ego and foolishness

Agree completely.
I think Rove told her she could not win six months ago for all the reasons you give and more.

I realize it's difficult to defeat incumbents, but for a Republican in Republican-leaning Florida to be polling only 20% is just astonishing.

What some don't want to admit... the dead horse polls 40% against Nelson with room to grow.

Harris has presided over a horrible campaign---the Repub candidate has to look reasonably competent.
Anyway, Jeb won handily---but some of it was attributed to the fact that the Dems had not yet figured out how to fix the new electronic voting machines.
Wonder what the Dems been doing at party HDQ lately?

This is what I hope happens, and it could:
Harris wins the primary very narrowly, and George W. Bush calls her up and (as nicely as possible) asks her to drop out of the race. Then the GOP recruits either Jeb Bush or a mega-wealthy conservative candidate who self-finances himself (or herself) to victory over Nelson, who really isn't all that popular.
