Michael Bouchard was a full-time public safety officer at age 20.
After a few years in police work, he grew frustrated with a legal system he said was sometimes unfair to victims of sexual assault and other crimes. He sought out Oakland County candidates he thought might make good judges and began working on their campaigns in the mid-1980s.
Bouchard soon decided he should dive deeper into politics and run for office himself, helping to make the laws rather than just enforcing them.
It opened my eyes to another reality, said Bouchard, now a Republican primary candidate for U.S. Senate. Pretty much everything I did as a law enforcement officer or as a small business owner was very much related to who was making the laws in the political world. And I felt I needed to get more involved.

It appears that it doesn't really matter who wins. Oh I think it does
Personally I would love to see another black conservative in Congress to further strengthen the message to blacks that they do have a choice and it doesn't have to be a Dim-o-rat
Plus a conservative black winning would sure be a smack down to the liberal UAW in Michigan!!

I'm still for ending AA. If a boy wants to go to a publicly funded all girls school, so be it, I don't think many will.
As for ending the other preferences, that can be done later.

Butler's new ad saying he is all for affirmative action and univeral health care really sealed it for me.Just unsealed it for me. I will NOT be voting for Butler if this is true.

If a boy wants to go to a publicly funded all girls school, so be it, What if a girl wants to go to an all boys school?
What really concerns me is that it will be in the state Constitution and that's makes it very hard to correct unseen consequences

As far as the AA bill goes, it doesn't matter which one wins the primary, they each get one vote in that, the rest of Michigan's voters will decide the issue in November.
Beyond their one vote, they have little say in the matter.

Thanks! Someone sure twisted Mr. Butler's words around. IMO, the medical account idea is a good one.

Just unsealed it for me. I will NOT be voting for Butler if this is true.Butler's own ads suck and should be rewritten as they do not clearly represent his opionion on health care. His website is clearer.

"What if a girl wants to go to an all boys school?"
If a Bull-Dyke wants to go to the school, and try out for football, I don't care, I would end AA for everything.

Both appear to be good candidates. I am probably voting for Butler. You might want to visit
the Detroit Free Press' Voter Guide, which lists 306 races statewide with information on 1005 candiates.
If you do and live in Macomb Township in Macomb County, please review the Macomb County Commission, District 26 race. My wife, Nicholyn Brandenburg, is in a tough race Tuesday, and any support is appreciated.

She is listed as (i)(R). (i) means incumbent not independent. She is the longest serving Republican on the Board of Commissioners.

Not many girls want to go to an all boys school and go out for football, so it would just be a guess.

Thanks for the ping and the correction of the record. I am in the Butler camp. I like his credentials...an unconventional conservative, beholden to his own convictions and successful in promoting and building on those convictions.
