STOP GOING TO ANY GOP OR CANDIDATE FORUM
6 April 2006 | Edcoil

Posted on 04/06/2006 12:31:41 PM PDT by edcoil

Nothing makes an impression like an empty house.

In response to the Congress, both House and Senates planned negotated immigration bill I think every Republican weather we support the candidate at election or not, we should NOT attend any forums or candidates activities or public speeches for the next 60 days.

None, zero, let them speek only to their staff and reporters asking them where their supporters are.

No, for me it is people being distracted from the reality of the political situation into a fantasy world wherein 10% of the tail wags the dog. These people believe that this tiny minority should trump the elected representatives of ALL the people. That ain't the way politics works in this republic and never has. We don't elect dictators who ride roughshod over all opposition but representative who must work with those elected by the OTHER half of the electorate.

There is no alternative to the GOP for the sane.

Those points you claim to have supported the President on are FAR MORE important that the Illegal hysteria being whipped up to obscure the really important issues.

One of the consequences of this hysteria is the obscuring of almost any mention of the devastating documents being translated showing beyond a shadow of a doubt that Saddam was linked closely to al Queda, was recruiting terrorists to attack the US and continued to work on WMD programs. But this fratricidal civil war on the Right allows all that to be easily obscured. Nothing pleases the Left more than watching the GOP slash itself to pieces over insoluable issues.

Well said. Protecting America comes first. Putting pressure on a spineless GOP to do just that isn't defecting to the enemy.

Tiny minority? Have you bothered to look at polling about American attitudes towards illegal immigration? They show OVERWHELMING opposition to such.

We don't elect dictators who ride roughshod over all opposition but representative who must work with those elected by the OTHER half of the electorate.

If the GOP stuck together on this, we would need minimal input from the Dems. As it is, the Senate compromise will have broader support from Dems than it will from pubbies, I would venture.

Sorry, but since your rant was based upon a false premise, I really don't care to waste time addressing the rest of it.

It's not his fault your sitting on your hands bloviating on a internet forum.

What a trip. First of all you post a bald-faced lie about HR 4437:

Reagan's immigration reform in 1986 was no different than the current House version (HR 4437).

When called upon to substantiate that claim, you back down and said there is no amnesty provision in 4437.

Now, after asking why I don't make enough noise about this issue, all you can do is attempt to disparage me for "bloviating" on an internet forum - which happens to be the most influential and widely-read conservative forum on the net. And in case you can be bothered to stop the utterly nonsensical attacks for a moment, try gauging the volume of opinion expressed on this board against any kind of amnesty.

So I'd say you are the one doing the bloviating here.

I would assume that based on your response to my post, you would not support a boycott of fora or speeches hosted by any GOP congressman or senator.

First of all this mythical "base" never said anything of the sort. If you believe Tancredo represents any real base you know less about the electorate than I thought.

Waving the Magik Wand seems to be the Hystericals' answer to all problems.

Almost 1.2 MILLION Illegals are arrested and deported every year. This is far more than any other nation has to deal with. This is more than have EVER been treated this way.

And there has been NOTHING even close to a realistic proposal being suggested by any of the hystericals. Certainly nothing that even comes close to being adopted by a Congress which still has representatives elected by those who will not do a damn thing. But that isn't their goal anyway merely weakening the Right is.

Reagan's amnesty was a realistic understanding that this problem has no real solution as long as Mexico is an economic basket case. You and I would be first across the border if that was the only way we could support our families and you know it.

Edcoil may not be one, but we have TONS of disruptors lately slipping in under the radar

I hate to tell you this, but many, many, long-time freepers with a history of activism have big problems with the stance of the Bush Admin and certain Senate pubbies on immigration. It isn't like there is no clear split on this issue within the GOP - the House stands opposed. So to try and claim the opposition to Bush on this issue is somehow just the work of disruptors is absurd. Bush has been warned for years that this is an issue that could rift the party. He chose to press foward and damn the torpedos.

I know. It's just my imagination that a very strong majority of freepers opposes amnesty. And those polls I see about the opinions of Americans about illegal immigration? I must have just conjured those up as well.

So once again, you start on a false premise, which makes the rest of your post irrelevant. If you care to make a post upon which your premises are based upon the underlying facts, please do so. Otherwise, please don't waste your time or my time further on this.

I have no financial issues in the fire on ANY of these issues except tax cuts. Hire no Illegals, feed no illegals, house no illegals, know no illegals (that I am aware of.) Don't give a shiite about Illegals except as they are used as a weapon to provoke insanity among the GOP.

Is the Constitution Party the same as the one by that name which existed in the early 60s?

BZZZT! Wrong premise again. Reagan's amnesty was sold as being a solution to illegal immigration. But it instead increased such, just as the number of illegals jumped dramatically as soon as Bush started talking seriously about amnesty.

See, that's the funny thing. If you reward illegal behavior, YOU GET MORE OF IT. We shout that at the idiot Dems year after year - that their approach makes the problems worse, not better. But apparently some folks like you are unable to confront the history of Reagan's amnesty and think we should make the same mistake twice.

It is ONLY the GOP which tries to protect America and stupid attacks on it make that job harder. If the Hysterical cause the GOP to lose power then you can forget about protecting America.

Doesn't mean there aren't tons of disruptors sneaking in under the radar. You've been around long enough to know that happens with EVERY contentious issue around here. DU'ers and others sneak in and try to excite the rabble or post things that make FR appear to be inhabited by recationary neanderthals.

That's how some people get ther kicks. :-)

Well, the Constamuhtooshunalists are against the WOT, and belong in the open border crowd, and they are led by some goofy character that gave up his only child for adoption at age 2.

Those polls are just as bogus as all the rest. This oh so concerned electorate elects mayors and city councils all across the Nation which REFUSE to cooperate in ANY way with immigration authorities. Which attend churches of the LARGEST Christian church which actively SUPPORTS Illegals breaking the law. Which elect RATS they know will NOT DO A DAMN thing about Illegals. And it has been that way FOR YEARS.

While they SAY they are concerned they never go after the parties responsible.

My rants are never based upon false premises.
