Just a bulletin. Nothing follows yet.
Wear your hazmat suit.
Contrare, Dean is all over it and snagging Cheney re: Libby as well.
Well consider the source! I am just glad the man is OK.
One problem can be, hunting here in Florida is often in fairly warm weather with no heavy coat for protection against inadvertant "shot rain".
In any event, the vast majority of accidental shootings while hunting are caused by 1. BOOZE and 2. Novice hunters who are just too excited to THINK before firing!
I can't count the number of times that I have passed up shots which I feared might hit another hunter! Tree stand hunting tends to allow for safer shots (assuming you have a clear sight picture!!!).
"Cheney's spokeswoman, Lea Anne McBride, said the vice president was with Whittington, a lawyer from Austin, Texas, and his wife at the hospital on Sunday afternoon."
The lawyer should feel fortunate the Veep didn't finish him off. And when the Veep sees the law suit that ensues, he may regret not doing so. . 8)
Less damage done than when the MSM went Quayle hunting.
LOL!
Where? I did not see Mort?
This happened yesterday per FNC ?
This isn't that big of news. Cheney's friend apparently didn't tell him he was standing right behind him and you are always suppose to tell the person you are hunting with where you are at when next to them.
This was an accident, the guy will be fine. His wife was right there when it happend and she has said it wasn't that bad.
The media is making more out of this than there is.
It is a terrible accident, but I think everything is fine. This guy sounds like he isn't going to turn on Cheney or anything like that. It was 2 buddies out hunting and there was a small accident. These types of things happen all the time unfortunately.
My parents have a small ranch in East Texas and my brother in law's, and my hubby go hunting a lot. They know the rules before they go out, but I can just see something happen to them like this. You gotta be careful.
Thankfully all is well with this situation. I think of the guy would have been severely injured or killed it would be a bigger story than it is!
it was a few minutes ago ... he was ont he phone talking to the FNC dude
I guess we should just be glad the VP did not accidentially shoot Tom DeLay or Karl Rove. :)
"Cheney's friend apparently didn't tell him he was standing right behind him and you are always suppose to tell the person you are hunting with where you are at when next to them."
You're also supposed to check around you before you shoot. -:)
If you're going to have a hunting accident, though, Cheney, with his ticky heart, is definitely the boyo to be with ....
According to the owner of the ranch, not only did he have a "medical team" right there with him, who attended to the guy, but Cheney always has an ambulance on call, so they called his ambulance & were able to get him to the hospital IMMEDIATELY.
Just heard on NPR that he was hunting quail with buckshot, and the man who was hit in the cheek by buckshot is "doing fine"...of course NPR is SOOOO accurate, it couldn't really have been BIRDshot!
Maybe it was a duel - the first vice presidential duel in over 200 years since Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton.
Hit in the cheek with birdshot and doing okay makes sense. Hit in the cheek with buckshot is a different thing. Of course, I've given up on media getting firearms terminology correct. Most of them can't tell the difference between a revolver and a semi-automatic or fully automatic weapon.
