FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Senate Republicans asserted their power in a disputed election Friday and seated Dana Seum Stephenson as a senator, acting quickly to swear her in and attach a large bronze nameplate to her desk.

A true Republican who stands up for Republicans.
The Kentucky pubs are wrong on this one IMHO.
The Republicans are pretty cocky on this one but it could really come back to bite them. Sooner or later the issue is going to come up where they get something passed by one vote. I could see the courts invalidating the legislation because it was not validly passed.
At least the votes of the people determined the winner. Funny to watch Dems argue that rules matter more than votes.
I'll give you that there might should have been a special election to fill a declared vacant seat. But, I do believe that Dana Stephenson had more right to the seat than Virginia Woodward. Do you agree with that?
I do believe that Virginia Woodward had no claim on this seat. Personally, like Bob Leeper, I would have rather seen it declared vacant and a special election occur. However, this is better than the option of Woodward holding it.
That being said, I wouldn't use the phrase you used to describe David Williams. Calling him a "true Republican" is questionable at best. Before he ascended to the presidency, he was one of the biggest RINOs in Frankfort. And, he would stand for anyone, or stab anyone in the back, if he thought it would benefit him in any way!
Yes, I do agree. Woodward lost the vote and second place in elections doesn't mean runner-up, next to serve, etc. - it means first loser.
Dana Seum Stephenson voted as a rat in Indiana.
Is an Indiana Rat the same as a Kentucky Repub ?
Stephenson knew or should have known she was ineligible under Kentucky law.
And for her to say she remained a Kentucky resident even while living in,voting in, and being a legal Indiana resident is farcial. So she violated either Kentucky election laws or Indiana voter registration laws ;either way ,she has demonstrated a willingness to break the very laws she will now be voting on. SOME members of the Republican party are just as corrupt as MANY members of the Democrat party.
You do not show yourself better than the cheaters by being a better cheater !
On that point, I would have to say that it depends on if you're in line with a certain faction of the Republican Party. One that ran on change in 2003, and continues to deal with Patton Democrats throughout the state instead of cleaning out state government and putting real Republicans in charge.
Infer what you wish, but there's a problem with certain leaders in the KY GOP.
Why is it that we have a GOP Chairman who is a former 'employee' of Terry McBrayer? A paid lobbyist, no less. To me, that's a big problem.
The true disenfranchised voters were the Republicans. The RAT tried a sleazy court challenge after the election. In the spirit of fairness, the KY Senate should have called for a special election. But since RATS cheat all the time, they don't deserve fairness.
