An election day secret
Boston Globe ^ | 12/7/2004 | Joan Vennochi, Globe Columnist

Posted on 12/07/2004 4:52:36 AM PST by HowardLSmith.ô¿ô

Joan Vennochi said -

"The day after the election, a group of women was sitting shiva in my health club locker room. Huddled together, they asked, `How could Kerry have lost? How could Americans be so stupid?' I meekly asked the most vocal if she thought everyone who voted for Bush was stupid. `Yes,' she said. `Stupid, stupid, stupid.'

"I guess that makes me stupid. I'm one of those nameless people in Massachusetts with a full set of teeth and lots of education who voted for Bush and won't tell anyone. Not even my best friend who lives 2,000 miles away. Just last week, she called and asked not once, but twice: `Did you vote for Bush? Tell me the truth.' Tell her the truth? I wasn't going to confess that I had scorned the Native Son, the Vietnam war hero, the Democrat.

I am not sure whether I believe Vennochi (mostly liberal), but maybe this column gives some Mass DEMs a reason to start making the conversion to support Bush. Let's watch and see the Globe letters to see if Joan's supporters go ballistic or are mellow!!!

Wow, what a great article. It does make sense that someone with her intelligence would vote for Bush. She has all the DU's talking points down as to why she shouldn't have voted for Bush. What a brave and smart soul! And in Massachusetts too. I shouldn't talk, ole Michigan keeps going blue and I hate it! Detroit keeps dictating to us.

UNDERSTANDING THE TRADITION OF SHIVA
The term Shiva is derived from a Hebrew word meaning "seven". It refers to the seven day period of mourning which takes place following a burial. During this period of time, family members suspend all worldly activities, and devote full attention to remembering and mourning the deceased. This is what is called "sitting Shiva".

Why isn't this on the news board?!?!

This is the first liberal article to show some indication of understanding.

On Nov. 2, 60.6 million Americans returned Bush to the White House. The Ohio vote is still being scrutinized. Naturally, Kerry won his home state, receiving 1.7 million votes or 62 percent of the ballots cast in Massachusetts. But, pass the Prozac: 1 million Bay Staters voted for Bush, giving him 200,000 more votes in the state than he received in 2000.

If Democrats persist in stereotyping the Bush 2004 voter, they will never figure out how to win back voters in 2008, like the woman described above. Registered as an independent, she voted for Al Gore in 2000 and holds a professional job in a bastion of local liberalism. But traditional Democratic constituencies -- women, minorities, and labor -- no longer perform like trained seals. They need reason beyond party affiliation to vote for any presidential candidate.

Thank you for your kind reply. For whom are they mourning? The Democrat Party?

I think so. Along with the loss of their chance to run the US for the next 4 years.

Sorry. I am probably wrong. But this looks like another (it was the messenger, not the message) story to me. The dumocrats still don't understand that the red states are tired of the BS.

My sister in law is not only a liberal she's a frelling newspaper editor.... let me tell you how sick these people are

Her mother is laying in the hospital 3 weeks before Thanksgiving after having had a mild stroke. Oldest sister in law (thankfully a conservative, and one of them christian ones da' boot) is trying to explain to Lib sister of hers what the doctors are saying. Lib SIL interupts Con SIL 3 times wanting to complain about the election. Excuse me? Your mother is in the hosital with a stroke -- has problems seeing out of the right eye, dizziness, they're talking nursing home and 24 hour care --and LIB sis is more concerned about the election? Gawd ... my mind still is blown away about it all.

They are never going to understand or get over I fear.

That sounds about right. The dead and liberals should get along just fine - same IQ.

Post #13 is illuminating though. A woman's mother is in the hospital and the woman is worried about the election instead of being worried about her mother. Jeez these people are strange.

Great post! You tapped into something about liberals that is not noticed enough, and goes a lot way in revealing their true character. It's all fakery folks!

These witches deserve every ounce of pain they experienced, as described in this column.

I hope they still hurt like hell. After what these sorts of people have done to this country over the years, it's time for payback, however fleeting.
