While there are many conservative men and women challengers running for the Senate, House, and state-wide offices in New York, it is likely that few, if any will win. Despite my many qualms with the Bush administrations moderate and liberal policies, I see the presidential race as the most important race in this region. While there is no way that Bush could carry NY State, PA and NJ are close races.
The RNC and Bush-Cheney re-election campaigns are doing a fair job of mobilizing New Yorkers to come to PA and, to a lesser degree, NJ. However, these efforts are based on rallying the GOP base and gaining swing votes.
What I propose is an effort to swing some Democrats and Independents to Bush, while depressing Kerry turnout. The key is to hit core Democrat constituencies. President Bush has done a lot to curry favor with Hispanics, Blacks, and Jews. However, he has done a poor job of articulating these programs and positions to the communities.
What I propose is for Republicans to target ethnic towns in NJ and PA in the next 6 days. Volunteers would go to these areas with flyers and other propaganda targeting these constituencies. They would also have canned answers given for hostile questions on issues dear to these communities and wider issues.
For instance, I would love to go to train stations, malls, supermarkets, and Synagogues in Jewish-dominated towns in NJ with flyers. These flyers would explain why Bush is better than Kerry on Israel and would have citations and internet links to articles written to this effect. There would be a similar flyer for the war on Islamist Terror. There would also be a flyer on Social issues, which generally hurt Republicans in this community. I would be so bold as to show how Bush's socially conservative positions are in line with traditional Judaism. Finally, there would be a flyer on national issues like the economy, education, health care .
A similar campaign would target Hispanics in general, dealing with issues important there. Social issues, and school choice would be played up. All propaganda would be in English and Spanish. (This last part is distasteful, but the reality is that too many do not speak and read English well. For the Cuban-American community, which is large enough to make a difference, there would be a distinct flyer citing Kerry's long affiliation with communist groups active in Latin America and his opposition to the liberation of Cuba.
Is anyone interested?
