Kerry Says Bush Should Have Transferred Authority Over Iraq to the UN After Baghdad Fell
(Excerpt of Transcript: Debate #1) - GoGov.com
LEHRER: Forty seconds, Senator.
KERRY: The United Nations, Kofi Annan offered help after Baghdad fell. And we never picked him up on that and did what was necessary to transfer authority and to transfer reconstruction. It was always American-run.
Secondly, when we went in, there were three countries: Great Britain, Australia and the United States. That's not a grand coalition. We can do better.
LEHRER: Thirty seconds, Mr. President.
BUSH: Well, actually, he forgot Poland. And now there's 30 nations involved, standing side by side with our American troops.
And I honor their sacrifices. And I don't appreciate it when candidate for president denigrates the contributions of these brave soldiers.
You cannot lead the world if you do not honor the contributions of those who are with us. He called them coerced and the bribed. That's not how you bring people together.
Our coalition is strong. It will remain strong, so long as I'm the president.

John Forbes Kerry is a nut
He is insane!!!!! This man gets scarier the more he speaks! God deliver us from this traitor.
So the UN could bungle the job AGAIN! NO THANKS....
This was the most undercovered and most significant remark kerry made in the first debate.
I don't know what is wrong with Bush's people. They should have used this, especially when it was being said after the first debate that Bush had done such a bad job.
I really think the media people at Bush HQ are not up to the task.
As the old saying goes "If you want things done right, do it yourself". As we all know the UN is a complete failure, not deserving of our money or support.

Election doubt as UN staff ask to pull out
By Kim Sengupta in Baghdad
08 October 2004
Fresh doubts were raised over the feasibility of holding elections in Iraq yesterday with reports that the already minuscule United Nations team there wants to pull out because of the dangerous security situation.

good night
Hmmmmmm.....what is wrong with this concept? Oh yeah the corrupt UN leadership, the corrupt security council members in Sadam's pocket should have provided stewardship....Nah.....
Kerry is full of it.
How about if we just turned it over to the Haitians. They'd do just as good a job and at least we'd know going in there was definitely going to be corruption.
IS KERRY stupid or dangerous lier only trying to catch voices for elections?
I think both!
It's well known that UN is ineffective every where and the best support of terrorism and tyranny!
YOU HAVE IT ALL WRONG K@%%^ IS NOT A NUT HE'S A MISSING RUSSIAN NUKE WHATTING TO GO OFF
This is not Kerry stupidity (well, actually it is but he does not think so). He is one of those the think the UN can do things better. There is a movement out there that loves the UN and things it is the only hope for the world.
It follows along the lines of the International Working Mens Association that tried to keep the world out of WWII on the premise that if no one agreed to go, there would be no war.
Of course, Hitler and his youth had different ideas.
