U.S. Senate candidate says no to quotas and government handouts in latest radio ad

March 22, 2004

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Herman Cain released a statewide radio ad rejecting Presidential hopeful Sen. John Kerry’s beliefs in bigger government, higher taxes and more handouts.

“Of course Senator Kerry’s promises to the little guy are just more big government, more taxes and more handouts. What we need is more freedom; that’s the key to the American Dream,” Cain said in his latest radio ad running statewide.

Cain also shows that he is “living proof” of the American Dream.

“My dad worked three jobs and taught me that you get what you earn. I took that lesson to heart,” the candidate continued. “And after 20 years of hard work I was a vice-president of the same company where dad worked as a janitor. As your United States Senator, my program for the little guy will be opportunity, hard work and more freedom.”

“No quotas, no government handouts and no special government preferences,” Cain concluded.

Cain was the first Georgia U.S. Senate candidate to go up on radio and television. They are both being run statewide.

The full text of the commercial is below.

In the 60 second spot titled “Dream”, Herman Cain wants to provide opportunity through freedom.

The transcript of the ad is as follows:

ANNCR: Herman Cain Talks Sense. And now Republican businessman Herman Cain.

HERMAN: It’s an election year, so the politicians in Washington are all talking about helping the little guy. And nobody’s talking more than John Kerry.

Of course Senator Kerry’s promises to the little guy are just more big government, more taxes and more handouts. What we need is more freedom; that’s the key to the American Dream. And I’m living proof.

My dad worked three jobs and taught me that you get what you earn. I took that lesson to heart.

And after 20 years of hard work I was a Vice- President of the same company where dad worked as a janitor.

As your United States Senator, my program for the little guy will be opportunity, hard work and more freedom.

No quotas, no government handouts and no special government preferences.

Conservative, you bet. But to me it’s just common sense.

That’s my message, I'm Herman Cain.

"He keeps getting better and better..."

Hopefully, he will keep getting better at the polls. I don't want another RINO in the Senate in the form of Isakson. Let's face it, whoever wins this primary will be the next Senator from Georgia, so I hope it will be a good Conservative who will protect American values and morality.

Bump to a great future Senator. If Cain wins, he will give Cythnia Tucker and the McKinney family fits.

Herman Cain is probably one of the best things to happen to the GOP since 1994 Revolution. The tragedy is that why is this guy so far behind. It is a fact that whoever wins the primary doesn't have much of a contest afterwards. Herman Cain can use all that post-primary time if he wins in building GOP support among African-Americans in Dekalb and Fulton county (the two Atlanta area counties) to add to his base, and more in the years to come as a Senator. This will be the perfect example of the GOP message in action, that the policies are multi-racial. A lot of people just need to see this in order to feel comfortable voting for the party. It's so unfortunate that many in the GA GOP do not see this and miss voting for the BEST candidate for GA and the party nationally.

Agree on the first part, not certain on the second. Pre-primary polling is generally not acccurate. I think Cain has more support than realized, with 3-4 months left before the primary. Lots of time..

Maybe an appearance/interview on EL RUSHBO would help...

Not going to happen! There is a RINO running. Republicans don't allow Conservatives to beat RINOs.

When you think of what RINO means, your statement is contradictory and makes no sense.

Sorry, that's one of those names like Neal that I spell incorrectly.

I may even donate $1,000. Depends if my next work contract comes through soon. I have a call into his office but no reply yet.
