Herman Cain: Senate Democrats get it wrong again on Social Security
Herman Cain for U.S. Senate Website ^ | February 26, 2004 | Herman Cain

Herman Cain, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, blasted Senate Democrats for their continued use of rhetoric and scare tactic when addressing the needs of America’s seniors. “The Democrat leaders in the United States Senate don’t have a plan or even a clue on how to fix Social Security,” said Cain. “Instead of addressing the facts, Senators Daschle, Kerry and Edwards resort to the same empty rhetoric and scare tactics they have been using for the past few decades or promise more from a system that is going bankrupt.” Cain continued, “Alan Greenspan was right, under the current system we only have two options: cut benefits or extend the retirement age. I don’t like any of these options. This is why I am proposing that we restructure Social Security so that we can make it work.” Yesterday, at a House Budget Committee hearing, Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan warned that growing federal budget deficits and the retirement of Baby Boomers will require future cuts in Social Security to avoid tax increases that would damage the economy. “Some Democrats see this as an opportunity to try and roll back the tax cuts,” said Cain. “They are working on the wrong problem. The tax cuts did not cause this problem. Tax cuts need to remain permanent so that our economy can continue to grow.” Cain concluded, “In order to fix Social Security, we must restructure it so that we continue to provide for our Nation’s seniors that are approaching retirement age, but allow for younger taxpayers to invest a portion of their Social Security taxes in private accounts.”

Cain's in trouble now. The Slavemasters of the AARP will be mobilizing their legions of looters to flock to the polls to protect their ponzy scheme.

I don't think so...facts are facts. We need to change things, and sooner rather than later.

I know we need to change it. I just don't think the AARP will support any meaningful change.

I didn't mean that in a rude way--- I am just very optimistic. Have you checked out Cain's Website?

If he really believes the things he says then I'd wish we had another 59 Senators just like him. At least I'd trade him for our RINO Hatch.

Collins or Cain...just as long as RINO Johnny does not ascend to the throan. Georgia still has the primary runoff requirement, right?

I'm actually in Cain's district-- he's been running radio ads on the largest local station for MONTHS now. He had me at Hello.

I'll say this for Herman Cain: he's a man of not only convictions, but the courage to speak them. And his Horatio Alger-style biography shows him to be a man of accomplishment. He would be one of the more intersting Senators if he were to win, and even if he doesn't quite win, he still has a future in politics.

"Georgia still has the primary runoff requirement, right?"

Yup, if no one gets 50%+1 in the primary, there is a run-off between the top two finishers. I support Herman Cain wholeheartedly, and hope he becomes the next Senator from Georgia, but if Cain finishes third and the run-off is between the pro-abort Johnny Isakson and Congressman Mac Collins, I will support Collins just as strongly as I support Cain today.

The important thing to remember is that both Cain and Collins supporters should support their candidate without fear that splitting the conservative vote will lead to the election of a pro-abortion candidate like Isakson. The more conservatives that vote in the primary, the less likely it is that Isakson will get the 50%+1 he needs to avoid a run-off. After the first round is over, whichever of Collins or Cain finishes third should endorse the other in order to make sure that a true conservative receives the GOP nomination and goes on to victory in November. And if conservative turnout is so large in the first round that Isakson doesn't even make the run-off, then we can have Cain and Collins fight it out in the run-off for the right to be the GOP's standardbearer in November, with the people of Georgia assured of having a pro-life conservative as their next Senator.

GO, CAIN, GO!

Cain has been running all of his ads statewide on radio and tv. Have you seen the tv ads?

I have nothing against Collins. Isuckson needs to lose, big time. Cain is such a high positive for the Republican party, Johnny boy should drop out. This election is not about him, it is about us!

How many more "moderates" do we need in congress?
