Steve Rauschenberger is better than Jack Ryan. But if Jack winds, I can enthusiastically support him in November. I have known Jack Ryan casually for 5 years. I've had many 5 minute chats with him. Plus I've heard him speak many times. I have many close friends who know him very well... and that includes close friends to both my left and right.

Jack truly is for less government.... and for parental choice in education. The rub will be when the only way for him to achieve the choice he wants is to throw more money at the existing system also. Steve will not be so eager to make the deal that he caves on spending. Steve has the cajones to not make the deal.

Right on about Rauschy! If he can pull it off in the primary, maybe we can assess the millionaire wannabees a couple mill apiece to kick in for him. If Rauschy loses, I could actually fall into step with any othe candidates except and Andy McKenna and, of course, the Gen'ral --

-- whose best days are obviously behind him.

I'm liking Rauschenberger better and better except for the fact that some Illinois voters don't seem to like the hard-to-spell names. Remember the LaRouche debacle?

Don't worry about spelling it, just look for longest name on ballot --
Steven J. Rauschenberger!

The only reason Rauschy isn't on the top of my list is 1) Can't see him having the $$$ to compete with the RAT nominee and 2) Wants blanket amnesty for illegal aliens. I think Rauschy's a great guy, but I just don't see this as his year to win. I think the GOP should nominate him for Treasurer in 2006, he would kick butt and take names. And I doubt Judy will run for a 4th term.
