Press Release (Art Available, Actual Petition Available Also)

SLUG: "Herman Finds Cobbeldick Well Qualified to Perform Duties as Congressman"

POC: Mike Pierce 440.835.0178 dtd. 18 Jan 2004

Bay Village, OH - - Ed Herman, who received the Republican nomination for the March 2nd Primary stated in writing that in his opinion, Cobbeldick, the #2 seated Candidate, is well qualified to perform the duties of the office of Congressman for the 10th District. "I appreciate Ed's opinion. When Ed came to me, I could not say the same, as I felt that his lack of Foreign Policy and skinny Domestic Policy were serious issues. In signing my petition, I wonder if Ed even realized that his opinion would show his in experience. As a Candidate, I sure did not sign his petition, when it came to me, I passed it back, said Cobbeldick, 40. But it gets better...

On Herman's website, he states that Kucinich has flip-flopped on Abortion and on DoD Spending. No, that's not correct, Ed. Kucinich has never flip-flopped on his stances against the military or the DoD. Kucinich has consistently voted against them. We appreciate Ed's opinion that Bruce Cobbeldick is well-qualified. A key to Bruce's qualifications is knowing the issues. Ed's Slogan is "Get Ready For Eddie!"

"Some Republicans feel that Ed is a Johnny Come Lately, who may need a little more time to get ready himself, as with no Foreign Policy and a mere 3-4 issues mentioned on his website, some people in Greater Cleveland may wonder what is going through his head if he is stating his closest opponent in this race is well-qualified and he does not know the issues better than he does," said Michael Pierce of Bay Village. "A Liberal Republican? That's stupid!" said Pierce, a former Navy sailor. Pierce questions why Republicans would want a person who appeals to the Democrats and has such a Democratic following make it to U.S. Congress. "Of course", said Pierce, 51, "the Republican Party did endorse a registered Democrat Saturday over a Republican at their own Executive and Central Committee Endorsement Meeting!"

According to Pierce, he just left the event, scratching his head, how Liberals got on the Nominating Committee and why a Registered Democrat could get their endorsement. Doesn't ones politics matter? Isn't a political party's main focus ones ideologies when nominating someone for Public Office? You don't see the Democrats endorsing someone who opposes Gay Rights, is fiscally conservative, against big government and anti-union, right? Wrong! Or should I say Left? Bottom line: I think Bruce Cobbeldick is the Right choice for Congressman. And best of all, Ed Herman thinks Cobbeldick is is well-qualified too!"

I knew that was going to be a rough crowd in that room when I saw a Policy Committee made up of mostly liberals. But that's OK. I'm reminded of the movie Braveheart, where William Wallace's Lieutenants asked him after a setback, "so what should we do now?" Wallace replied: Just be yourselves. And that's all I ask of you here today - to just be yourselves. Think with your minds and your hearts and just be yourselves. I plan to be myself and let the chips fall where they may.

My background is not one of privilege - my father, a fine parent, with a wonderful smile, was a commissioned salesman. As a family, we all used to feel that he supported the territory more than the territory supported him. There was plenty of times when bills came before commission checks.

Believe me. But my Parents were good Republicans, good citizens and loyal to each other. I lost my father at the age of 18. We were shoveling snow when he died from a sudden heart attack - without insurance and without a will. To help my mom with finances and to get an education, I joined the U.S. Marines, and as a combat correspondent, I served all over the world in some 12 different countries, serving my country and it was there that I discovered the value of education.

After the Marines, I put myself through night school and earned a Bachelors Degree in Management. I soon found myself at Ernst & Young at their e-learning division and today I am a mortgage banker at the 2nd fastest growing corporation in the nation, American Home Mortgage.

So, I know education is our ticket for making Greater Cleveland Great Again, as we move from a manufacturing economy to a Knowledge Economy. And clearly, my business background and knowledge of finance is vitally important to holding a Congressional Seat.

I have been married for 13 years to a wonderful Spanish lady named Monica with four kids ages 5 to 16, and there is something to be said for that. It shows responsibility and commitment. It also brings to the table maturity and empathy for what today's families in NE Ohio are going through. I am sure that voters feel better about backing a family man.

The hard and truthful question is who will the voters likely support come election time? Someone who is 41 with experience and a family man or someone who is 29 years old and single? I ask you to simply be yourselves and think like the voters will think. Think maturity and experience. These things matter quite a bit to voters.

I would ask that you don't pin your hopes to mere enthusiasm. Go for experience and enthusiasm. As a person who's worked at Ernst & Young on some 16 different engagements with their Performance Solutions Environment, and working with Blue Chip Companies like Saks 5th Avenue, I understand how CEO's and CFO's think. I have the kind of business acumen and consulting experience where I can have productive dialogues with today's Captains of Industry, where they will listen and connect with me. My opponents cannot say that.

In terms of being a Veteran, my opponent has a good military record and I applaud him for serving his country for the year he spent on active duty, but I was an active duty Marine for six years, then went on to also earn Honorable Discharges in both the Army Reserves and the National Guard. I have some 14 years of military service. As a civilian, I served as Chairman for the American Legion's Citizens for Soldiers fundraiser, here in NE Ohio this past Spring and Summer.

It's not enough to do what my opponents have done and simply bash away at Kucinich and claim to be Veterans.

At Ernst & Young, I specialized in Strategy and Vision Workshops. And from a Strategic standpoint, I tell you it has been a mistake for them to pin their hopes mostly on being Veterans and and simply being critical of Dennis Kucinich. That is so obvious - he is a wacko. Sure. But the people, the voters do not hear from my opponents the kind of experience and skills it will take to make their lives better. They hear only enthusiasm. The people are more concerned what a candidate will do if elected to office, and that is key - not stating the obvious that Kucinich is a wacko - we all know that. What voters want is to feel secure that they will be in better hands - to have a Congressman who is mature, capable and qualified. Greater Cleveland needs experience - not mere enthusiasm. Congress is not for cutting ones teeth.

I am by far the best suited to bring business to Cleveland, bring home the bacon and re-ignite our Local Economy. I worked in the .com and Information and Technology arenas, as a senior project manager for a 650 million dollar consultancy, Veridian Companies.

THAT is the kind of experience and business leadership Greater Clevelanders want and need - not merely "enthusiasm." In order to unite the people voting in November, it is going to take someone who can awaken the Sleeping Republicans and Independents who has the depth and breadth of a cogent, professional Foreign Policy and a Domestic Platform that shows preparedness.

People of the Executive and Central Committee, the idea of electability must be a cornerstone theme to this process here today!

It's great to see enthusiasm, but the fact is my opponent began his race in mid-September. I have been campaigning since May of 2003 and as the Republican Club Presidents and Ward Leaders here know, my candidacy is by far the most consistent and hard-run by far. In fact, I earned the vote of Confidence from the Parma Republican President, back in September because I had already built up enough momentum to earn her personal endorsement, where she made a motion for me to receive an early nomination way back in September.

To the people here today, on the floor, to the members of the Central and Executive Committee, I stand before you calm and confident, because many of you know me, have seen me out there in your neighborhoods, clubs and church events since this past Spring.

And what this Party needs is someone who has been an aggressive campaigner, a family man, a person with significant business experience and someone who has already built up that magic "M" word: MOMENTUM. The best indicator of how well someone will campaign is how much substance and credibility do they bring to the table. And how has their energy level and stamina to campaign been? It takes self discipline to get out there and do this right. I have. I have gotten out there and people here know I campaign hard.

Look, I understood the dynamics of that Policy Committee interview - there was a large representation of Liberal Republicans in the room. That's fine.

But here today, on the floor, this is where the heart and soul of this Party is entrusted -- with you sitting in those seats here this morning. Am I thrown by their decision? No. In my heart I know that I have worked hard to earn the trust and backing of people here these past eight months since May of 2003.

This race is too important to not take a close look at the politics behind the politics here. The nice thing about the truth is that it is simple and straight-forward.

We need a candidate who is highly electable. Getting elected will require the candidate to be mature, have extensive business experience, hopefully be a family man that the voters can relate to and trust that Family Values and their needs will be represented, as well as tackling today's tough issues such as Jobs, Health-care, Tort Reform and looking out for our Veterans and supporting our military.

But as I stated, the truth is something that is obvious, and in making the decision today as to who will best represent the interests of the Republican Party of Cuyahoga County, I ask that you put yourselves in the place of the voters out there. And newspapers like the Sun Herald and Cleveland Plain Dealer. They are going to be looking at experience. And my opponents cannot dodge that bullet.

Voters are going to want someone who has the kind of business leadership and skills that can Make Greater Cleveland Great Again! And if all the Republican Party can muster is enthusiasm, we will fall short of our goal. We cannot pin our hopes to being a default option to Dennis Kucinich. The people must see that we offer a better, wiser candidate.

As a Marine Corps Honor Graduate from Parris Island, I place my military record up against any of my opponents. No other candidate here today was at the Muni Parking lot, participating in their Ceremony, this past Fall, addressing the Veterans, showing them I deeply care.

It was that day that the Vietnam Vets pledged their support to me, as I was the only politician or candidate that took the time to attend that Rally for House Bill 50.

I will fight for a fair flat tax.

I will introduce legislation that will put Congressmen on the same Social Security System for retirement that the rest of America is on. How long do you think it will take for them to fix Social Security and make it right once they are on it too instead of the Golden Fleecing they are committing on taxpayers, totally unaware of what reality is all about.

I am for balancing the budget, demanding accountability and seeking reform - especially Tort Reform which is Health-care's biggest issue.

Get a solid Domestic platform and a well thought out Foreign Policy that supports the President and the War on Terrorism, and helps keep American lives safe and secure. And let's care for our Veterans!

So, let's show Dennis the Door in 2004! If you pin your hopes on me, you won't be playing pin the tail on the donkey, that being Mr. Kucinich!

Is it time to make a stand? Or is it politics as usual? Is it time to renew our strength? Or is it politics as usual? You, each and every one of you have the power to change. We're all here for the same purpose.

You have the power to take a Congressional Seat - and straighten the wheels - on a Republican Road. The opportunity is here now in 2004 to make that change. To put a forthright American with solid, family values in Congress. My name is Bruce Cobbeldick. I am asking for your vote today, on March 2 and in November. I am not looking for a job. I am looking to serve the people, to restore Family Values and fight for the GOP Platform.

So, with that Committee members, vote for experience and enthusiasm - not just enthusiasm. To you Faithful Republicans I say, Let us return dignity and professionalism to the 10th District Seat. But we need to straighten the wheels here today - on a Republican Road! Let's put the people of this great nation back in the drivers seat, I will be happy to ride in the back, traveling "coach." I think leaders are best when they eat last and see to it that their people are taken care of first. I will lead that way. And I will do so, totally aware that whatever the Republican Party is morphing towards, I am willing to set my own course towards Fiscal Conservatism, Leadership and Family Values - not just be part of some "machine" that gets people elected. Ideology and ones politics ought to mean something.

As you know, Kucinich's district is no longer as Cleveland-centric as before and now includes all of the west and most of the south Cuyahoga County suburbs. The district gave Bush 43% of the vote in 2000, and likely will give him at least 48% in 2004 (the Bush vote in the suburbs outside the South was depressed in 2000 because national security was not seen as an important issue). Kucinich keeps getting weirder and weirder, and is now at the extreme left of the political spectrum on every single issue (he used to be 100% pro-life but did a 180 on the issue and is now 100% pro-abortion, which will hurt him with ethnic Clevelanders). I think we can beat Kucinich this November if our nominee is a solid, well-funded social conservative who supports President Bush on the War on Terror. So my question is: Does Bruce Cobbeldick fit the bill? What are his stances on abortion and affirmative action and special rights for gays and school choice? Will he be able to raise enough money to go on TV and take out Kucinich? We can win this race, but we need to be aggressive and unapologetic in our conservatism (especially social conservatism).

One wildcard that could foil our potential upset is if Kucinich gets taken out in the primary by State Senator and former Cleveland Councilman Dan Brady, who would not have as much baggage as Kucinich. However, if Brady runs an aggressive primary campaign (pointing out how much of a wacko Kucinich is) and loses to Kucinich, it would make it easier to get Dems to vote for the GOP nominee in November.

Step Right Up

The statesman speaks: You said I look like George W. Bush and I dressed in a sharp pin-striped suit ["The War at Home," December 10]. Great work -- if you were a fashion reporter.
But candidate Ed Herman actually said, "At this stage of the game, all you have to do is be nice and not piss anybody off." His quote speaks volumes. Leadership isn't about trying not to piss people off.

I have a platform. While Ed is practicing how to be a politician and say things that are politically expedient, I will continue to show leadership and resolve for family values, smaller government, lower taxes, and the kind of vision for America that will turn the ship around and make Greater Cleveland great again.

This won't come from a politician like Herman. It will come from a Republican statesman like me, who's unafraid to lead and defend our belief systems and the family values that this nation was founded on. Meanwhile, Ed can continue to be the Golden Boy of the Liberal Press. I simply will be earning the Republican nomination.

Smarting Over Smarts
Chris Maag obviously didn't take much time to get to know Bruce Cobbeldick before trying to paint him as a high-priced Republican. Cobbeldick is a family man who drives a Ford and works hard, just like his future constituents. I know this is hard for many people to believe, but not all conservatives pull down a six-figure salary.

Maag apparently doesn't realize that Cobbeldick's "verbal barrage" of his résumé is the most effective way for Bruce to get across his leadership experience. There is no way you can match a few days spent with Herman to a few sentences with Cobbeldick.

Lastly, Maag apparently didn't look in the mirror before he painted both the President and Cobbeldick as not being the brightest bulbs on the tree. I realize this was written for a fairly liberal paper with a liberal reader base, but on what basis can Maag judge Bush or Cobbeldick's intelligence? Maag may have gone to Columbia's journalism school (hotbed of the liberal elite media), but I don't exactly hear his name mentioned for a Pulitzer.

VOTE FOR BRUCE COBBELDICK

"Together We Can Make Greater Cleveland Great Again"

„h Will work hard to restore dignity and trust to Public Office, fighting for Americanism and Fiscal Conservatism, as government growth and spending being at a faster rate than our GNP is dangerous.
„h Will restore family values bringing to the table the experience of being a family man, knowing what it¡¦s like to keep a family together in the midst of tough economic times
„h For a fair flat tax and eliminating loopholes, so Americans don¡¦t have to navigate through the confusing maze of the IRS, relying on lawyers and CPA¡¦s to simply compute their tax returns
„h Pro Life as this nation was founded under God, our coins say, In God We Trust
„h Will focus on local economy & jobs, by using my business experience and Change Management experience to help turn the ship around for Cleveland and improve our national reputation as a region.
„h Will introduce legislation to put senators and congressmen on Social Security like the rest of America
„h Fight hard for tort reform, as this may be one of our nation¡¦s biggest drains on our people¡¦s pocketbooks ¡V Tort reform would have an impact on so many aspects of taxpayers¡¦ lives.
„h Will introduce legislation to reduce our UN budget by 50% - charity starts at home
„h Take the 50% saved from UN and use funds for senior citizens health-care
„h Will seek more protectionism and the rightful collection of Foreign Debts owed to our country
„h Will make it harder for corporations to leave the U.S.A. as our workers need their jobs to say here
„h Favor 2nd Amendment Rights, as a former Marine, want to ensure the right to bear arms is upheld
„h Against legalizing Gay Marriages as the institution of marriage is for one man and one woman
„h For a balanced budget where our government is accountable for its spending and debts
„h Against Socialized Medicine as the Canadians coming South to our nation for treatments prove that point ¡V it was a failed experiment in England and Canada ¡V why repeat such a costly error?
„h Support ideas that promote God and Faith in our society, as Family Values and morals are pillars holding up who we are, why we formed this nation and according to our founding fathers in 1776.
„h Strong supporter for Veterans Issues ¡V I was the only politician at the Muni Parking Lot Rally
„h Will fight hard for Health-care Reform and a Patients Bill of Rights, as health-care must be fixed
„h Will work to change NE Ohio¡¦s reputation and return us to the days of Best Location In The Nation
„h Will work on training and education to help constituents improve their marketability
„h Focus on funding for NASA, Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals and other NE Ohio employers

*Note: Bruce is the only Republican who challenged Dennis Kucinich on the issue of running for two campaigns at one time - AND Bruce is the Republican Candidate who received the motion from Parma Republican President to receive an early Nomination way back in September!

Seems like we may have found our man to take out Dennis Kucinich in his West Cleveland-West Cuyahoga County congressional district. Bruce Cobbeldick appears to be the most conservative candidate with a chance of winning the GOP primary (and no others may enter the race, since the filing deadline already passed), and as a Marine Corps veteran and family man he will stand in clear contrast to that space cadet Kucinich (who is such a slimeball that he switched from being 100% pro-life to 100% pro-abortion---even supporting partial-birth abortion!---on the very day that he announced his candidacy for President).

If Bruce Cobbeldick takes a firm stance against abortion and gay marriage and in favor of school choice and President Bush's War on Terror, I think he can convince enough Cleveland ethnics to vote for him so that, once we add the expected GOP margins in the suburbs, he may defeat Kucinich in November. Remember, this district is winnable for us (see my post #3), especially against a radical liberal such as Kucinich, who has vowed to stay in the presidential race until the convention and thus will not be able to campaign in his district until the end of the Summer).

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: ART AVAILABLE via email .jpeg file upon request

Cobbeldick: "The Only Folks I Am Beholden To Are The People"

"This race began with people in charge not wanting a first-time candidate running, wishing for a big-name politician to step forth. The assumption was a regular citizen could not raise money. Here's a novel thought. I need votes - not money. Money buys races. Ideas are what causes the people to take a candidate seriously. The system is skewed. It's about money - not ideas. And while the Party has its Liberal elements in key positions, the people of Greater Cleveland care about Family Values, morals and jobs. They want accountability and a lower, more fair, flat tax system. I am the only Candidate who has said I would introduce legislation to get Congressmen and Senators off their lucrative retirement system and put them on the same Social Security System that the rest of America is on. I am for the American worker and I want to see Corporate America stay in the USA. I will seek repayment of foreign debts owed to America, and I will legislate to reduce our United Nations budget by 50% PUMPING THE SAVINGS INTO SENIOR CITIZENS HEALTH-CARE. All Scene Magazine could do as a Liberal Newspaper is say I looked like a young George W. Bush and make fun of my last name! Look at that paper for what it is. The fact that they were Pro-Herman and anti-Cobbeldick speaks volumes that I am on the right track. You see the lie is this: That today's politicans are all hot-air and insensitive to the needs of the people. Not true. In me, the people will have their statesman. They will get the representation that they deserve and have been longing for. The Golden Fleecing of America is over. It's time for change. Vote for me on March 2nd and expect things to improve. It begins with a Fair Flat Tax System and politicians like me, who are beholden to the PEOPLE."

-Bruce Cobbeldick

In An Age Of Republicrats and Fence-Riders, Cobbeldick Is a Maverick!

How or why we appointed who we did to the Screening/Nominating Committee, I really do not know. I feel that we have Liberal Republicans, watered down Republicans leading this Party currently, so sadly, since I feel like a True Republican, no question about that, the fact that THEY did not endorse me is neither shocking or a revelation. Instead, it is more of a re-affirmation that some within our Party, those who are leading it, are willing to have us morph into things we never stood for before - things that make us more like Democrats. And by virtue of who is leading us, their orientations, ideologies, and waivering on key issues like FAILING TO HOLD THE LINE AS REPUBLICANS ON NO NEW TAXES, that is why we see this new Buddy System, where there's everything from folks in favor of Legalizing Gay Marriage to Voting For Tax Increases - - - and to me, that is more than strange or ironic. It runs counter to the basics that this Republican Party has always subscribed to. If I lose this race, because I did not compromise my values and principles as a Republican, because I have been critical of our "popular Party officials" who have buckled and voted for Tax Hikes, then so be it. As Popeye used to say, I ams what I ams! My campaign for U.S. Congress was never about just getting elected to Congress. It always included my desire to re-ignite the Republican Party here in NE Ohio. In my opinion, the Party Leadership has failed to produce good Republican Candidates. Moreover, they have rewarded Pseudo-Republicans and even endorsed Registered Democrats over Republicans!

Look, I am not grasping at straws here. I am far from being an Ultra Conservative. I have always described myself as being somewhere between a Moderate and a Conservative, but my Platform parallels that of the Republican Party. I am deeply concerned with who is leading us, and who they are appointing in key positions. If you are a Republican, or a disenchanted Independent, and you take a look at how our Party has had key "leaders" from our Governor on down, giving away the farm in terms of tax hikes and letting our state and national government grow, then you share my concerns. We cannot and shall not be a Watered-down Republican Party. What then would be the point? Smaller, more efficient and accountable government with lower taxes, getting Senators and Congressman on Social Security Retirement System THEMSELVES to end their Golden Fleecing of America, pushing for a fair Flat Tax System, Health-care Reform, Tort Reform and a Conservative Fiscal approach is the heart of Republican Values. Am I saddened by the direction of our Party? Yes. Am I bitter? A little bit, frankly. Yes, I am. Because in the past few years, we have had the opportunity to hold the line and distinguish ourselves by voting against Tax Hikes and being true to our ideals, and instead we conformed and compromised. We sold our political souls for no apparent reason. Today's voters are smart. They have concluded that Democrats act like Republicans and Republicans act like Democrats nowadays, so what's the point? Well, to those out there in the 10th District, I would say this: The Republican Party of Cuyahoga Party has become simply a machine to get people elected. It does not produce outcomes that would support candidates who are for Fiscal Conservatism, Lowering Taxes or Smaller Government.

Look at Patton, Kilbane and Trakas's voting records right up to our Governor! We need to stop disappointing the people. We have seen our government grow in size far more than our Gross National Product, and that's dangerous. We have failed to look out for Social Security, our seniors, our Veterans and we throw money at school systems that is obviously poorly managed. The answer is placing the taxpayer, the citizen, back in the driver's seat and realizing that voters run the show - the PEOPLE are the boss here in America. The tail (our government) should not wag the dog (the citizenry). I ran smack into a series of people who are in charge, who I do not believe in. Mike Wise endorses Herman. So what? I am not even closed to being thrilled with Mike Wise. The folks on the Policy Committee that did the screening for endorsement purposes were heavily made up of Liberal Republicans. So, if they were in favor of Ed Herman, that ought to say something to Conservatives and Moderates. I her people telling me not to mention my opponent's name - telling me not to compare and contrast my maturity, background and military record with that of my challenger, Ed Herman. Why? That advice comes from the same Republican Leaders who backed him. So, of course they don't like the idea of comparing and contrasting. It works against their interests and their agenda. I am not a Liberal Republican. I'm not a politician's politician either. Unlike Kucinich, I'll VOTE the way voters THINK.

Yet I distance myself from the current Republican Leadership and I am my own man. I would hold the line on fighting to lower taxes and you certainly don't hear any other Candidate having a Foreign Policy, or a well thought out Domestic Platform or promising to introduce legislation to get Congressman and Senators off that lucrative retirement and benefits system and onto the same Social Security System that we citizens are on! Do you? No. And that is the difference between a POLITICIAN and a STATESMAN. I am not running to milk the system. I am not running as a slick, rich attorney from some big-name law firm. I come up from the ranks of being an average citizen, who was a Marine Corps honor graduate, with very clear ideas about our government's need for LEADERSHIP, TRUE LEADERSHIP. And while I may be on the "outs" with some within my party, I understand that leadership is a lonely thing sometimes. I'm sure our Republican State Representatives ran into all sorts of peer pressure to vote for raising our taxes. They did the politically expedient thing - probably to save themselves from being kicked off committees or denied this or that. But my brand of leadership is to be beholden only to the people - to the taxpaying citizens of this District. And I know that there will be some big changes within the Republican Party in the future. I will not change who I am, in hopes of being some Republicrat or some watered-down version of who I am. This race is about the economy and jobs. This District needs a mature, family man with significant business leadership experience - someone to push for reform and turn the ship around. The cronies and the Old Guard don't like that. Well, this too shall pass. I am running for U.S. Congress to represnet the interests of the people. Vote for me please on March 2. There are a lot of Republicans and Independents who agree with me; they're just not as quick to publicly state their gut instincts. I am hoping that the Plain Dealer and Sun Herald endorse me. At this stage of the game, their endorsement would speak more of that of the people than a Party who has broken some of its own principles and seen its politicians vote for higher taxes and appoint Liberals and ensorse registered Democrats. I think the message is clear to today's voters. Political Parties are machines to get people elected. Candidates beholden to the people's interests are what's wanted. I have a sense of humor about all of this. I can appreciate the irony. I am a true Republican, and I've made myself accountable to the people, therefore, I must be stopped! But thankfully, there's one factor here in this equation that some keep forgetting: The people get to vote on March 2nd, 2004!

Herman's sign was 4 times bigger at the Republican convention. It read, "Get Ready For Eddie!"

The slogan we opted for back in May was and is: "Together, We Can Make Greater Cleveland Great Again!"

Let's make Greater Cleveland Great Again! Let's prove this race is about ideas - not merely money.

Hello, you can reach me at 440-668-0887 or cobbeldick@comcast.net

Welcome to my website! My name is Bruce Cobbeldick. The key thing I would want the voters and the media to be aware of for the March Primary and November General Election is the question of having mature experience, as Congress is no place to cut ones teeth. The role of Congressional Representative is an important one - it is not a hobby or alternative career. Congress is a chance to serve your fellow citizens and get important things done for your community. Everyone knows Dennis Kucinich is a Wacko. It's not enough to simply state ones opinion that Dennis needs to go. Many feel that way. But in order to earn the people's votes, you have to show preparation, maturity, and be electable. Being Pro-War, a fan of George Bush and for education and improving the economy are nice soundbytes, but what else have my opponents got? Where's the beef? Where's the creativity? Where's the innovation?

The fact is I am the only Candidate who has stated I will introduce legislation to get Congressmen and Senators on the same Social Security Retirement Plan that the rest of us are on; I am the only candidate who has stated that I will take steps as a Congressman to see to it that our country collects on the Foreign Debts other countries owe America; I am the only candidate that has said I will seek to reduce United Nations funding by 50% and route the savings to our senior citizens health-care needs; I am the only Candidate with a well thought out, cogent and professional Foreign Policy, at a time when the Middle East is a serious threat; truth be told, my Domestic Platform covers 20 topics - not three or four topics; I offer the voters breadth and depth - experience!

The people want ideas - not some campaign that has got the "mechanics down" of running a race. Whether a candidate has 3,000 or 30,000 dollars to run against Kucinich, on March 2nd, 2004, Independents, Republicans and disenchanted Democrats alike will have to realize that Kucinich has millions. So, any bragging about having fifty thousand in ones campaign fund is silly. Dennis has funds that will eclipse that!

So, to the people, I tell you: This race better be about IDEAS and SOLUTIONS - not money. Because in the big picture, whether it's 5,000 dollars or 50,000 dollars, money will not beat Dennis. But sincereity, character, maturity and business acumen can. AND THAT IS WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR BRUCE COBBELDICK ON MARCH 2nd, 2004!

My opponent has pinned his political hopes on being a Veteran and "being mad - very mad at Dennis Kucinich," as he puts it. That is flawed thinking, and I'll tell you why. As a former Marine Corps Sergeant and past Chairman for the American Legion, I too am a veteran.

In fact, while my opponent is quick to point to his one year of active-duty time with the Army, I was in the Marines on active duty for 6 years, then I went on to also earn Honorable Discharges from the Army Reserves and National Guard for a total of 14 years in the military. I was the only candidate or politician who was at the Veterans Rally at the Cleveland Muni Parking Lot this past Fall.

But folks, that is not enough. No one is more proud of the military or being with the American Legion than I am, but the people of NE Ohio need more from their Congressman than simply being "mad at Dennis" and offerig military service to ones country. Where's the beef? The people here in the 10th Congressional District do not need someone who is single and 29. Voters want and deserve someone with maturity, business acumen and someone who can relate to what today's families are going through. How can a Congressman fight for family values and be insightful and sensitive to what it takes to hold a family together in the midst of tough economic times when the Candidate is single and 29 years young? Age is no guarantee of intellect, but ones life experiences are tremendous indicators of ones character and resourcefulness!

I had no silver spoon in my mouth. I know what it's like to be a child, drinking 3 glasses of milk to fill up your stomach when you're hungry. I know what it's like to be a latch-key kid. I know what it's like to be without medical insurance and I know what it's like to go from being a teenager to the family's breadwinner because of a parent's death. These are all intangibles - things that make you be caring and sensitive - they are life events that forge inner strength and compassion for others. My background has many things that I can draw on to help people - to care in a way that my opponent just simply cannot fathom.

I remember what it was like when we had my Social Security Death Benefits suddenly terminated. I have graduated from the School Of Hard Knocks and after beginning my life over in the Marines, I know what it is like to put yourself through college and change careers to make ends meet. Pain and struggle can serve to make a person be more patient, show more courtesy and love for ones fellow man. This I offer you.I applaud my candidate's military service record. I salute him for having enthusiasm. But the people here in NE Ohio need substance and experience - not mere enthusiasm. But ultimately, this race is far too important for the future of Greater Cleveland than to simply "be mad, very mad at Dennis Kucinich." The people don't want merely a default option to Kucinich. The voters want someone who has a Foreign Policy, someone with maturity and someone they can relate to - but best of all, the voters need someone who has walked in their shoes. I am that kind of human being. I've been there.I did not attend St. Ignatius High School and move on to a nice Liberal Arts College and teach English to Arabic Children. My father died when I was 18, and I immediately dropped out of School and went to work at Cleveland Hopkins Airport unloading planes and loading trucks for Summit Airlines. I then joined the Marines and after getting out of the military, I went to night school and put myself through college. My background and experience says a lot for my character and resolve.I love this community. I believe this still is The Best Location In The Nation, but if we're going to work together and make Greater Cleveland geat again, the people in this District are going to need experience and enthusiasm - not just enthusiasm! So, on March 2nd, 2004, vote for Bruce Cobbeldick.Get a family man who's worked for Blue Chip companies and who knows how CEO's and CFO's think. Cleveland needs a Congressman who can bring home the bacon and fight for this District.

If elected, I will fight for a fair flat tax and I will introduce legislation to get Congressmen and Senators on the same Social Security Retirement System that the rest of the American people are on. I will legislate to reduce United Nations spending by 50% and route that money to senior citizens health-care. I will fight for Tort Reform and Health-care Reform, including a Patients Bill of Rights. So, come March 2, 2004, please make it to the polls and vote for me!

Vote for EXPERIENCE, MATURITY AND QUALIFICATIONS. Vote for BRUCE COBBELDICK!

They want accountability and a lower, moe fair, flat tax system.

PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release SLUG: Herman Fails To Show Foresight On Syria TAG: Hey Herman, How Can Our Citizens Feel Secure About Syria? POC: Bruce Cobbeldick, Bay Village, OH (440) 668-0887 Bay Village, OH - - Bruce Cobbeldick has done more than simply be the first Republican Candidate to begin his campaign against Kucinich. He's done his homework! Cobbeldick, 40, a former Marine Corps sergeant sees his candidacy as addressing critical foreign policy issues germane to Syria, this nation's next real threat. With Herman's failing to weigh in on the Syrian issue, Cobbeldick questions the breadth and depth of Herman's strategies as a U.S. Congressional Candidate. According to Cobbeldick, matters of foreign policy will make or break this race, as 2004 is not just about jobs and the local economy. These times call for a candidate who has domestic solutions and Middle East policy positions that will serve to safeguard the people, making them secure in the knowledge that their representative is proactive and aware of terrorism threats that go well beyond our current battlefields. President Clinton was unaware and blind to what was going on in the rest of the world, focusing mostly on Bosnia. Meanwhile, look at what nations were empowered to get away with murder and terrorism training, said Cobbeldick, who served in three different branches of our military, the USMC, Army and National Guard. Terrorists crossing into Iraq from Syria have carried out attacks against American soldiers. In an August 22nd interview with al Jazeera, Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage said, “these fighters are not being stopped at the borders, and this is something that causes us a great deal of concern.” It is also important to note that Bashar Assad, President of Syria, is a proponent of the occupation in Lebanon and supports a terrorist organization known as Hizballah. By occupying Southern Lebanon, Syria enables Hizballah to carry out attacks against Israel. Hizballah has positioned 10,000 Katyusha rockets on Israel’s northern border. Moreover, President Assad has allowed the Iranian Revolutionary Guards to operate in the region. This is the area that Israel withdrew from in May 2000, in compliance with United Nations Resolution 425. If I had been a member of the 108th Congress, I would have supported H.R. 1828, the “Syrian Accountability Act.” Representative Kucinich voted against this piece of legislation. This piece of legislation would enable the President to impose sanctions on Syria. The possibility of sanctions would include the prohibition of U.S. investment in Syria and cutting off U.S. trade and diplomatic relations. These are all things for Americans to be aware of, and according to Cobbeldick, a West Shore area businessman, as a Congressional Representative, it is imperative not to miss this threat. "I'm very proud of my Domestic Platform, but these times require more from a congressional candidate than simply talking up the need for education and bolstering our local economy. The people want and deserve to feel confident that their Congressman is up on these issues of great importance, and frankly Herman has failed to demonstrate any foresight on Syria whatsoever. The Race in 2004 ought to have a lot to do with Foreign Policy-savvy. If not, voters will look elsewhere for their leadership. Kucinich has dropped the ball completely, and Herman has failed to show any expertise or wisdom on this topic, as well," said Cobbeldick. "I have a family, and even if I wasn't running for office, I would consider these matters of security extremely relevant as to who I could get behind or not get behind for the role of Congressman. As a father and husband, the safety and security of my family is a priority, and as a candidate for the 10th District, I come to this race prepared and up to speed with these things. That's a real issue for me - not just as a politician, but as a family man. There can be no more 9-11 tragedies on our homeland. And there can be no room for politicians like Clinton or others who fail to show the needed foresight in taking a position on Syria and the Middle East issues that are so relevant to Americans nowadays." -30- Cobbeldick Residence 440-808-8926 ----- Original Message ----- From: cobbeldick@comcast.net To: steck@wews.com Sent: Sunday, January 25, 2004 9:41 AM Subject: Elizabeth - the concern here is how'd Herman do it UNLESS IT'S OK TO BE WITHOUT AN AGENDA IF YOU GET A LITTLE MONEY & BACKING... PRESS RELEASE - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE dtd. 1-26-04 ***Read emails from Trakas to Cobbeldick below*** From: Bruce Cobbeldick To: Ohio-HispanicAmericanRepublicanCommitte@yahoogroups.com Sent: Saturday, January 24, 2004 9:17 PM Subject: [Ohio-HispanicAmericanRepublicanCommitte] VOTE FOR BRUCE COBBELDICK ON MARCH 2 ...BECAUSE EDDIE (HERMAN) NEEDS A LITTLE MORE TIME TO GET READY! Hello, you can reach me at 440-668-0887 or cobbeldick@comcast.net Welcome to my website! It's not enough for Herman to simply state ones opinion that Dennis needs to go. Many feel that way. But in order to earn the people's votes, you have to show preparation, maturity, and be electable. Being Pro-War, a fan of George Bush and for education and improving the economy are nice soundbytes from Herman, but what else have my opponents got? Where's the beef? Where's the creativity? Where's the innovation? Mere enthusiasm is not enough. The people want ideas - not some campaign like Herman's that has got the "mechanics down" of running a race. I, Bruce Cobbeldick, offer substance. I'll gladly compare my military service with that of Herman! Many Clevelanders aren't Veterans. My campaign does not hinge on my being a Veteran. A quick scan of websites shows my preparedness. This I offer you. I applaud my candidate's military service record. I've been there. I did not attend St. My background and experience says a lot for my character and resolve. I love this community. I believe this still is The Best Location In The Nation, but if we're going to work together and make Greater Cleveland geat again, the people in this District are going to need experience and enthusiasm - not just enthusiasm! So, on March 2nd, 2004, vote for Bruce Cobbeldick. There's work to be done. March 2nd better be about ideas, experience and preparedness. Pit someone young and inexperienced against Kucinich? Voters need help, relief, assistance - they need money brought home from Washington and someone who can have a dialogue with CEO's and CFO's. My .com and e-Learning background will be very key in helping Cleveland. I've coached executives as well as Ohio County Agency senior managers, doing Efficiency Studies and Management Consulting to help government be more effective. That's key. Get a family man who's worked for Blue Chip companies and who knows how CEO's and CFO's think. So, come March 2, 2004, please make it to the polls and vote for Bruce Cobbeldick. The question is who will get it done? Vote for EXPERIENCE, MATURITY AND QUALIFICATIONS. Vote for BRUCE COBBELDICK! "Together We Can Make Greater Cleveland Great Again!" Talk about a blast from the past. This thread is almost a year old.

Conservative Political Action Conference

An intimate gathering in Washington of thousands of your closest conservative friends. Last year , my first, I worked the Free Republic booth, went to addresses by Ann Coulter, Michele Malkin, Phyliss Schlafly, Oliver North, etc. etc. etc. Ate every night with other members of Free Republic, and made some lasting friendships. Ran into some of the people I met last year when I went to the KerryLied rally in D.C. on 12Sep04.
