Democrat in G.O.P. Clothing?
Winston-Salem, NC - On Monday, Republican COngressional candidate Ed Powell criticized Jay Helvey for having Erskine Bowles's Finance Committee Chairman, Scott Livengood, as the chairman of the Helvey for Congress campaign.
"This is proof-positive of what i suspected all along: Winston-Salem's downtown Democrats aretrying to hijack the Republican Primary with their man, Jay Helvey," Powell said. "It is beyond hypocritical for Helvey to praise Congressman Burr on the campaign trail and then have Erkine Bowles's biggest supporter in the Fifth District as his campaign chairman."
Livengood's history with Erskine Bowles is a long one. Livengood contributed $2,000 to Bowles effort to defeat Elizabeth Dole in 2002, and after Bowles lost, Livengood placed Erskine Bowles on the Board of Directors of Krispy Kreme. Prior to joining the Helvey team, Livengood had no record of involvement with Republican candidates in North Carolina.
"I am not going to stand back and watch the Liberal Democrats and pretend Republicans try to steal the Fifth District Congressional District," Powell added. "They know they can't win the race with a Democrat so they have to try to steal it with Helvey. I am calling on all the good Republicans across this District to stand up with me and keep Helvey and the Democrats from Stealing this election."

That's ridiculous, Jay Helvey is a great guy, he's conservative, and his staffers are hard-core Republicans. Business people back each other all the time. Many of Erskine's supporters in the business world are backing Burr this time around. Does that mean Burr is a liberal?
Give me a frickin' break . . .

He's the guy who registered the site. The website does not cite news sources to back up its claims. And I don't know what their problem with White Rabbit Graphic Design is.
Seems like pretty poor credibility to me.

well the information must be true. The only garbage is a Democrat acting like Republican to get elected. we have enough RINO's already. And its about time we take out the trash. You go Ed Powell!!

And the hits keep coming. It seems that John Cosgrove (one-time candidate for the 5th) has endorsed Jay Helvey for Congress. According to FEC records Mr. Helvey paid Cosgrove $1500 for yard stakes. THats a lot of money for some yard stakes.

Then you had best condemn Jesse Helms as a RINO too. Jesse had Dick Morris of Clinton toe sucking fame work on his campaigns.
And Karl ROVE who sits on president Bush's right hand was a Democrat consultant for years. There were lots of idiots in 2000 condemning George Dubya Bush for hiring a Democrat to not only raise money but to run his campaign. Bush kept Rove in charge even when a Rove staffer sent Bush's debate strategy to Gore in the mail.
This is a disgusting post done in the amateur manner by someone so stupid that they don't even know about Bush and Helms using political staff with Democratic campaign roots.
This worthless diatribe has convinced me to contribute to Jay Helvey's campaign.
With enemies like you Helvey has no need for Friends.

The perfect solution. Congressman Robinson sounds great to me.
To: Common Tator
no need for friends? Good!! THen he will not be the next person in Congress.
We conservatives in the 5th want someone who can articulate the values and views that we hold dear.
Let's support a candidate who has paid their dues to the Republican party and Conservative issues!!!!

"Livengood placed Erskine Bowles on the Board of Directors of Krispy Kreme"
Krispy Kreme = Dem-corp ?
To: Conservateacher
it seems to me it is a Democrat Conspiracy
C O N Spiracy
I have not had a single doughnut since I heard about Bowles. And now Helvey is in the Democrat doughnut hole.
To: JohnnyZ; blue-chip
In spite of his money, James Helvey is a second-tier candidate. The two first-tier candidates are state Senator Virginia Foxx and Winston-Salem City Councilman Vernon Robinson, with Foxx holding the slightest of edges.
