This may not fix anything, but you may want to check it out. Go to "My Computer" then to "Dial-up Networking." Check to see that there is only one dial-up connection there. If there is a dial-up connection which you didn't have in the past, delete it. I ran into this in the past and assume that some spyware had altered my settings.
