I am going to purchase two boxes for my children's homeschooling, their curriculum will be almost totally web and cd based with lots video and some interactive work. I have been looking at the E machines at Best buy. I am thinking that 512K and 120MB would do it. I am not sure how fast a processor I need I think the E machines use an Atheron. I am not sure what kind of video card for multimedia cds. It will be going on the network I am installing in my home. Any other tips for buying mid level boxes for short-type people would be appreciaed. I am going to put two of the darlings to bed right now.... I willl be back to check the thread in a lttle bit

If I read one more Ramona book...........

Ah - I see this phrase was ambiguous.

I meant to say "I would have recommended even earlier in this thread that you not get a Dell, instead of hedging my words on them, but I had not realized how low Dell's Tech Support had fallen".

I did not mean that I would have recommended a Dell, at any point in this thread.

You make a very good point with your #190. I had to deal with an Indian to send back a bad LCD monitor from Dell recently, and it was a trying experience. If I had been over my head and asking technical questions to this guy, it would have been bad.

Ma'am, PythonicCow's advice is very good, I am going to follow his lead myself. Look closely at what he says.

I still like good used machines, though, if supported by a competent shop.
