If you're on at 12:30, Rush doesn't git 'till 12:10 or so. You'd better be ready for one way or the other.

While I earlier saw this story as the end, I no longer think so. America is the land of magic, and many a soul has re-made himself, or kept a head above hot water.

Rush can handle himself, especially of something of his own doing. You needn't fret. I'd suggest no defensiveness, just calm emphathy and kind wishes.

I will ask you to consider only one thing. If Michael Irvin (who at least played against the person in question) Jason Sehorn (he was a starting cornerback for NY Giants until he got hurt and is being converted to safety) were considered to be overrated and given media preferential treatment because he is white (most starting cornerbacks in recent years have been black), I think he could be accused of racism.... Please tell me what the difference is with what Rush said... I think he may be a racist but I am aware that there are eloquent arguments against. I would also be willing to grant him the benefit of the doubt and say that he did not intent to make anyone feel bad... However, I think his unwillingness to step up and defend his position in a forum where he does not control the mike raises questions...


He has the right to say whatever he wants but does he not also need to take responsibility for what he says...

I have stated on several occassions that he should not have resigned because he needs an adequate opportunity to show what he can do....

I also think that if he had stepped up and answered his critics in a place where he is not in control, he would have been perceived as someone who is misunderstood and we could have proceeded to have an intelligient discussion about a very important issue....

He has become the story and there is something wrong with that. I am not sure whether it is his fault or other reporters but I would like to see him show some grit and advance rather than retreat...

I congratulate you for your invitation and I wish you the best in your presentation but I would prefer to see Rush doing his own talking...

On the drug issue, I am taking a wait and see approach because I think everyone, regardless of their views, deserves impartiality and the presumption of innocence...

i stopped listening to stern years ago and only because i grew out of the show and it also was not longer as funny as it used to be.

yeah i still have tapes of his old show that i pop on nce in a while just to hear the most hysterical things ever uttered.

i hope you listened to him when he had billy on. he was on for a short period but that was the FUNNIEST time of the show.

how things change! i used to think it's just because i got older and grew out of the show but it might also be because the show did a 180 turn years ago. and when i talk to the people i used to like stern then with, they don't listen anymore cos they say he is just no longer funny!!
